Why can't I make FaceTime to work?

Maybe someone with more expertise than me could help me with FaceTime.
Running OS X Yosemite (from a clean install).
iMessages synch work very good. I receive a lot of messages during the day, and when I get home and turn my Macbook on, I see every message I received and replied to, and even the ones that I have deleted.
But nothing happens with regards to FaceTime. I can make calls from the Mac, but when the iPhone rings and the Mac is on and in range, nothing happens. Not a single notification although I have set Notification Center to show alerts and sounds. Life if they could not establish a link between them. iPhone Cellular calls is set to on, and no further messages appeared.
My Macbook is Handoff UNsupported. Handoff is set to off on the iPhone.
Any ideas of what could be wrong? Is there a setting or a preference file I need to modify?
Do I need to have FaceTime running in the background all the time in both my devices?
This feature of being able to receive and make calls right up from my Mac is the one I was really looking forward to.

Can't give you an answer cos I have the same problem for a long time.
Seems that no body has a solution for it. No help at all from Apple.

For some reason I can no longer make FaceTime audio calls on my Mac. I receive the following error on my Mac : "IPhone Calls Not Available. Your iPhone must use the same iCloud and FaceTime account."
Of course my iPhone does use the same iCloud and FaceTime account as I have set up on the Mac. I've tried logging out and logging back in. Unchecking and rechecking all of the contact boxes. Nothing.

I had to turn off FaceTime on my iPhone, then turn it back on and change the caller ID from my e-mail address to my phone number. This brought up an option on the computer asking if I wanted to use the phone number with FaceTime. That solved the problem.

Why can't I get facetime to work?

I have activated facetime the iphone, the wifi works but when someone calls using facetime, the caller has a ring tone and it just rings and rings. Nothing happens on the receiving end. However a missed call message comes up once the caller hangs up. Does anyone know why this happens and how this can be solved?

I have the same issue. My little bro told me to go into the wifi settings, go to advanced, and change the DNS sever from whatever to "8.8.8.8". i was skeptical at first but it worked. The problem now is I still can't facetime with anyone! So maybe its not such a good idea after all. My macbook pro is brand new and came with Lion pre-installed. the next issue too is that i noticed the mac app store is still selling the 1.02 version of the facetime app. i checked my one and noticed I have version 1.1! I think that this is the real problem. I tried buying the app on the App store and it told me to delete the facetime app I have on my MBP because my facetime is a "later version of the app". I tried deleting it but the OS won't allow me to delete it because its already integrated in the system! I realize now that this might not be helping......

Why can't I make my applets work in Explorer?

I know this is stupid but I've really checked almost every source to see what the problem is.. But it doesnt work... Here it is:
I write really really simple, "hello world" kinda applets just to see the java environment and stuff. I compile them using "javac" program. I view them using "appletviewer" in an applet window. But I can't see them in an explorer window, am I dumb or what? I checked my HTML code and I don't think there's a problem in it.The class name's correct, the path -i use codebase="."- is so... But I still see the error "class: blahblah not found" in explorer. Ok, there must be a prob. in my coding somewhere,but how do I view the working applet in "appletviewer"?

HTML is based on relative paths, so in the
codebase= make sure that you are using the
correct location, and if you are using a relative path
that the .class file actually is in that path.
Folder: HTML
Folder: java
File: applet.class
Folder: pages
File: appletTest.html
In the appletTest.html file in the applet tag, if I
use the code=applet.class then it is looking for it in
the "pages" folder and not where it actually is.
To fix this, simply change the codebase to point to
"../java" and then it will work, or you could just
move the applet file to the "pages" folder.
Make sure it is the .class file and not the
.java source code.

I've tried to do the 8.8.8.8 on the settings, I have everything in working order. I never used FaceTime prior to now even though my iPad is over a year old. I have always used my iPhone. I don't understand why it won't let me get it going. Any suggestions would be great.

Why can't I make the applet work?

I have developed an applet to capture the video stream from a Logitech (usb) camera and display it in the applet. This is a clone of another program that captures a network camera video stream and does the same thing.
I am using JBuilder 2005 and when I run the applet in the JBuilder applet viewer, it works fine, but not when I attempt to run it in the browser.
In the network camera application, I was able to overcome this by signing the jar file and it would run in the browser.
In the Logitech application signing the jar file does not work. I get the mesage that asks me if I want to accept the certificate, but it still does not initialize the camera.
Since I can use it in the Applet Viewer, I have to assume that all the connections are set up OK.
But the application fails when trying to get the capture device in:
di = CaptureDeviceManager.getDevice(str2);
I put the startup code in a thread and perform several iterations with a slight delay, suspecting that there may be a timing issue, but that was not the problem.
This code also works in a stand-alone application version.
The only thing I can think of is that there is some other connection or security issue that I am not addressing.
Since signing the jar file works with network video streams, I have to think that there is something different between USB and network video streams, but I have no clue as to what it might be.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Its possible that the server can be down now. Have you ever used it before? If you want, try resseting the phone by just holding the sleep/wake key and the home button together for 10 seconds. Then wait 5 seconds when it turns off and press the sleep/wake button to turn it back on. Then try it again. Let me know what the results are.

Why can't I make any calls on facetime, the call drops after saying connecting for a few seconds. I'm using an iphone 5, 32 GB on IOS 6.0.1 over 3G network in Muscat, Oman. Just to be clear, I was able to make facetime call in Muscat about a week ago.

getting Leopard tomorrow. system working great. plan to do an "upgrade installation". backed up all my files (106GB) to an external HDD. so I think I'm ready....
question is - why can't I make a disk image of my "Macintish HD"?
it starts to create the image but Disk Utility comes back and says "Unable to create disk0s2.dmg. Resource busy."
I thought it might be a good idea to do a "complete system backup" just incase something goes wrong with the "upgrade installation".
Since it didn't let me, I just dragged-n-dropped the Users folder to the external HDD, so I got my files backed up.

So where do you do when apps just seem to stop working, particularly when you paid for an app. I have now had then happen twice and there seems to be very little customer care from Apple when this occurs. It was a simple fillcolor with opacity. It is as if it doesnt respond. I can clic the symbol for a new layer, but nothing happens. I've dragged the style from appearance-box, to symbol for new style - Nothing. I've dragged the box directly to Graphic Styles - again - nothing. I've tried with my CS4 that worked. But not in CC.
