Why can't I open a dynamic PDF?

I can open a regular PDF, even though it's a larger file than the dynamic PDF. I'm trying to open the dynamic IEP and ETR files from this site: Ohio Required and Optional Forms | Ohio Department of Education. Can anyone else? Is it the site? Can anyone open it on an iPad using iOS8? I *just* bought this iPad to WORK on, and can't!!! I've tried to open both files in Evernote, Google Drive, and Dropbox. Still no joy. Please help me!!

Unfortunately no. Not for iOS at any rate. You would need to use a different machine.
That is the fault of the folks that made these forms. It's documented that this isn't an acceptable workflow and suggested that if they want to target people using tablets (iPad or Android), they need to be rendered as HTML mobile forms.

When I use iBooks in Maverick, why can't I open and read .PDFs as I can on my IOS devices?

I keep getting an error message that says, 'The application "Adobe Reader" can't be opened. -10810' But I've downloaded a variety of .PDFs on my iPhone and iPad and they open and work fine in iBooks.

I has this same problem until I:
opened iTunes
Selected "Books" in the "LIBRARY" section
At this point iTunes posted a message similar to: "Your books have moved...".
I went back to the iBooks app and, presto, I could now open all my PDFs. I went back to iTunes and the "Books" item no longer appeared in the "LIBRARY" section on iTunes. Gotta love quality software engineering!!

I know that the file is there. In fact, none of my PDF file will open.

There was an option in the Old Keynote "Save new documents as packages". If it's off, the document would be automatically zipped. As a result, you couldn't "Show Package" on it.
if you selected it, it would save as a package and you could "Show Package"
This second one is what the new Keynote is doing and there's no option otherwise. SO, I believe you'll have to .zip the file yourself before emailing in order for it to send successfully. However, I'll have to play around a bit more specifically with the iPad interactions.
OH, just thought about another option. Have you tried sharing via iCloud instead? It provides a link that can be pasted in an email and loaded from both Mac's and iPads (and PC's if they have a recent browser, it'll load in iWork for iCloud).

Why can't i open a scanned pdf file on my ipad?

I transfered several Word files and several pdf files that I scanned into my pc into pages. I can open the Word files but the pdf files are grayed out on the iPad.

Or if you toich and hold the file, does the' open in' pop up? Can you open them in i books?

Only a few PDFs require Adobe Acrobat. Preview should be able to open most. What happens if you Option click the PDF link and open it from your download folder using the control-click Open-with Preview?

PDF files are extremely reliable. You may have a software issue. I have the problem on 2 identical systems with the exact same specs. The problem occurs at the same exact interval. It may be a windows update. We have had to re-install software form the DVD in each instance. This fixes it for awhile and then it recoccurs. Adobe acts as if they have never heard of the problem...imagine that. I'm the only one with th problem.
This is happens with CS6 volume lic product.
If you dont own Adobe product it will be even more difficult to find and answer as the reader is used my so many people.
We know we have the problem again when we double click opn a PDF and nothing happens. SOme have reported that reloading does not fix the problem.
Wish I could help you. I am looking for answers to this issue right now and phone support is a 30 minute wait.

Well then, as I wrote in the headline... Why can I not open PDF-files?
I get a notification that says that either the file is already open (which it's not) or it is missing a plug-in thingy for this kind of file.
So, how do I know which plug-in thing I should chose from Adobe which will solve my problem?
Could it be enough just to update the program? I tried with 6.0.6. upgrade but it wouldn't even open up. I'm not so good at this type of computerproblems (choosing upgrades, plug-in etc.). The program is not upgraded for a long time, unless it do it automatically, but I think we've chosen it not to....

I just bought a new laptop with windows 7 on it. Adobe Reader 9 was allready installed. I wanted to open simple pdf files, but I got the message "Adobe Reader ?" in an empty field that pops up.
Why can't I open pdf files? Do I also need to install the Adobe Flash Player as well?

It appears as if Adobe Reader is not correctly installed. Try installing the latest version 9.2 from http://get.adobe.com/reader/ - make sure that you uncheck any unwanted software bundled with the download.
P.S. no, you don't need Flash Player to open PDF files.

I get the same thing... no matter what site i try to pull a pdf for IE10, it gives me the black x... if i use chrome it works, but my client does not want to use a different browser.
I followed the guide that Pat posted... nothing worked... I have uninstalled and reinstalled Java, Adobe reader, Adobe flash,.. upgraded to IE11, then back to IE10 due to medical software that is not compatable with IE11...
The kicker is that my Admin profile works just fine.. no issues.. so i know it has something to do with his profile....

I try and open them in Reader (double left click on the file) and all I get is a single screen with two overlapping frames neither of which have anything to do with the subject although the presentation title is at the top. One of the frames had "Adobemail.com" on it. Our work computers were recently up-graded to Adobe XI and this was the first time I tried to open a presentation that has worked fine in the past. I would have thought that Adobe XI would have been backward compatible, but it doesn't seem so. Word is a text processor, not a PDF viewer. You can embed a PDF document in a Word document, but that's pretty much it. Besides Preview there are numerous third-party applications that can also view PDFs such as Adobe Reader.
