    you can find many articles on how to repair mac disc permissions on Google. Just
    try googling it. Else you can always ask applecare. They will guide you with
    same.

    I recently purchased Adobe CS4 Design Premium. I attempted to install it Sunday, and it completed with an indication of success. I then tried to open all my applications to make sure everything went well, and Acrobat keeps coming up with the following error: "You can't open the application Adobe Acrobat Pro because it may be damaged or incomplete." I tried to remove it with the uninstaller, and it does not see it. I have tried to install it multiple times. I even swapped out the DVD drive to see if it was having problems reading the disc, but nothing has helped. I even tried to delete it entirely. I currently have a web case open, but they state that can take up to 3 days to be answered. I tried to call technical support, but gave up after an hour on hold. I suspect a bad disc, but I really don't want to have to wait a week or more to get the issue resolved through sending endless emails back and forth with a web case. I was hoping someone would have a good answer to my problem that would not require that. I am trying to install it on a fairly plain OS 10.6.2 system. It is a 2009 Mac Pro Quad with 6GB of RAM. As stated, so far none of the other applications are giving me any issue. It has just been Acrobat Pro.

    I ended up finding the probable solution to this problem. I downloaded the trial version of CS4 Design Premium. Seeing that I had already installed CS4, it asked what application I wanted to reinstall. I reinstalled Acrobat. When I opened it the first time, it told me that the licensing server could not be reached. I opened Photoshop, then it again. It has worked fine since then. I have updated it to 9.3.1, so it should be good from here on out.

    I purchased Design Standard CS6 the entire package. I downloaded and installed but I was continually having problems with Adobe Acrobat Pro. I tried updating to the newest version but it only made the problems worse (acrobat was super slow and constantly not responding). So i decided to try to uninstall and then reinstall the program. Well I uninstalled, and then attempted to reinstall ONLY the adobe acrobat pro but it says my serial number (which is for design standard) will not work. Since Acrobat Pro is included in the suite, i thought this wouldnt be a problem. Is there anyway to get around this without uninstalling the entire design standard and reinstalling everything? I only need to reinstall acrobat pro.

    You need to reinstall Acrobat the the Creative Suite, you cannot download it is a separate application and install it that way because it will be looking for a serial number relative to being a singly purchased application.

    when i open adobe 7.0 standard and click help --> "check for updates now", it says there is one update available (Adobe Acrobat 7.1.0 Standard Update). it shows up on the right column "selected updates", but when i click the update button nothing happens.
    no error, no event logs...nothing. just closes the updates window and brings be back to a blank acrobat screen

    It could be possible as Acrobat 7 standard is a pretty older version .
    Compatibility of Acrobat 7 standard with the OS you are using could be another possibility .
    It is an older version ,would be slightly difficult to get the updates of this specific version.
    I would recommend you to opt for the latest Acrobat version .i.e Acrobat 11.0.10.

    All of my other CS4 programs operate fine, and this is not a licensing issue.
    A little Microsoft Window pops up and says that Adobe Acrobat 9.1 has stopped working.

    converted), I still cannot open AA9 to create a new portfolio or add to an
    existing or open the icon on my desktop. I have tried to repair the
    application but with the same results.

  • Why can't I install Adobe Acrobat?

    I have downloaded Adobe Acrobat but it won't install.  Adobe Application Manager says that I need to close Safari when there's absolutely nothing open.  I've tried restarting my computer but to no avail.

    Please search for Activity monitor in spot light (search option on top right hand side) and chck if Safri is still running in the background, if yes then select the application from there and click on quit button.
    If still not resolve then restart your computer once and go to /Application and double Adobe Application Manager to install Acrobat Pro on your computer.

  • Why can't I interact with Acrobat Pro XI while it is performing OCR on a set of large files?

    I am running Acrobat Pro XI on a beefy MacBook Pro with lots of RAM and CPU to spare. I need to perform OCR on hundreds of pages of text spread across dozens of files. That understandably is time consuming and is not perfectly parallelizable.
    However, why am I prevented from doing *anything* with Acrobat while the OCR process runs?
    Two suggestions:
    1. Allow the user to perform OCR on discrete files in parallel. (I realize this will consume additional CPU and memory.)
    2. More urgently, allow the user to access non-OCR features of the application while OCR is in progress.

    Maybe it should be 64-bit and have multi-threading capabilities .  Understand the problems associated with that though and I won't hold my breath.

    No product should force security on its users without providing them any practical way to override. Web browsers, email clients, and operating systems warn you of potentially dangerous files and then let the client make the choice. What if it's a zip file from a trusted source full of harmless text documents? Too bad - because Acrobat says so. Acrobat makes no attempt to examine the zip file to see if perhaps its contents are dangerous - it just sweepingly decides zips are far too dangerous to let the user have any voice in the matter. I fundamentally disagree.
    Notice that I've attached a zip file to this post. Adobe allows zips on their forums but not in their PDF documents. Adobe: If you've deemed zip files safe enough to be hosted and delivered in your own forums, why have you decided they have no place in a PDF?
    I think Adobe got this one wrong - and I cast a vote that they loosen the noose on zip files on a future release. I'd like to hear other users' thoughts on this issue. Adobe is good at listening to their users - so tell them what you think on this issue - I've posted this article as a feature request here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/520515 - reply to it that thread and share your viewpoint.
