Why can't I open another window to organize my playlists in iTunes?

I've read this is some new "feature" of the new version 11. What a gigantic pain in the ***... er, wrists. I have repetitive strain injuries that have destroyed my career - more poking/clicking/scrolling is not what I'm looking for. *Apple Fail* Maybe my question should be: how do I remove the new software to restore my ability to navigate conveniently on my Mac and not some **** mobile (small, limited real estate) touch screen interface design? Poor Job lads. Steve must be cringing in the grave with you abandoning perfectly useful desktop interface for the sake of mobile whatever. Not everyone uses iPhone/iPads for everything. Thank you for the added encouragement to buy music on vinyl!!

I've edited down your post to capture a theme with which I agree. Despites being serious user of ATV, iPads and iPods.
But like you I resent the dumbing down of OSX to match the interface of the considerably capable iOS. I'd naively expected the reverse.
Sadly, this seems to be the direction of the other software and OS developers as well. Click click drag drag. Bye-Bye Menus, keyboard commands and the assumption that users might actually care about doing something other than texting their facebook friends.
As to the specifics of your annoyance (opening a seperate window). This is indeed the case, I've found no trick or workaround in iTunes 11. This drives me crazy also .

• Why can't I open another tab in the current window anymore?

I have not had an issue with this problem until today. I have had my laptop since May 2010 and I have been using firefox the whole time. Today, my roommate used my computer, but used internet explorer. Since then, I have not been able to open another tab on the current page.

Perfect solution. The resolution was not letting me get past the user agreement and into the iPod settings.
Really appreciate your taking time to respond. Thank you!

• Why can I not open 2 windows (playlists) to view playlist and library at same time

I cannot open a separate playlist window at the same time I am viewing my library as I have been able to in all previous versions. I want to see all my songs in a separate window, plus a playlist open that I can drag and drop into. Or maybe 2 playlists open. Is this not possible any longer. i want to be able to have different playlist in different windows to manage my tracks.
<Re-Titled By Host>

No longer an option. Best you can do is enable the side bar (CTRL+S), display the source tracks and drag them onto the playlist you want them to go to. You'll have to reorder that playlist, if necessary, as a separate step.

• Why can't i open my window until i re-install ?

I cant seem to open the mozilla window until I delete and re-install the package and after I exit the browser it won't open again. please help.

Sounds like a registry issue, after uninstalling ff
You can either run a registry program(ccleaner is free just google it)
or you can type in window's 7 or lower search window type in regedit when the registry opens hit ctrl+f a search window opens type in Mozilla or key words like firefox, anything related to Mozilla or firefox you want to delete, try several times when searching after cleaning registry try to reinstall Firefox again should resolve issue

• Why can't I open a window from the dock when Firefox is running?

When I start Firefox, all is well. However, when I close the first window, the Menu Bar items (FILE, EDIT etc. disappear. The word Firefox is still visible as are all the other Mac icons on the right end of the bar.
Clicking on the Firefox icon on the dock while Firefox is running does not open a new window whether in Firefox or in Finder, but clicking on a HTML icon on the desktop will open a new window and go to the site.
The Menu items may or may not appear, but the drop down menus are still active.
I just looks like the Menu headings (FILE EDIT etc) are invisible. I reiterate that Firefox is open and still active (the name is at the left end of the Menu Bar).
I have reinstalled the most recent version of Firefox. Running 10.7.5 Firefox 26.
It is irritating to have to Quit and re-open Firefox every time a want a new window after closing the previous.

Try to remove the Firefox plist file (org.mozilla.firefox.plist).

• OK, why can I not authorize my Windows 7 64-bit computer for iTunes?

I'm entering my AppleID password just fine (the one I'm using to post this, but the iTunes store keeps rejecting it. Any ideas?
BTW, why does the 64-bit iTunes installer program default to installing under Program Files(x86)? I changed it to the other Program Files directory-- is that the cause of my problem above?

is that the cause of my problem above?
Maybe.
iTunes is still only a 32bit program with 64bit drivers.

• I downloaded an album from iTunes on my iPad and then i synced it with iTunes it doesn't show the individual songs in my library just the album which opens another window. Can you help?

I downloaded an album from iTunes on my iPad and then i synced it with iTunes it doesn't show the individual songs in my library just the album which opens another window. One of the albums won't even play the music. Will only open the "booklet" for the cd but not the music. Can you help?

Hello dannugget
Normally, if the songs showed that it is purchased then it is probably already in your library. If not check out the article below to walk you through downloading your past purchases. You may also want to check to see if you have Automatic Downloads turned on so that way next time you can get your tracks without having to plug in and sync.

• Why can't I open pdf files allthough having adobe reader 9 preinstalled on my new windows 7 laptop?

Hi!
I think my question might be simple to answer, so please if you read this give it a try...
I just bought a new laptop with windows 7 on it. Adobe Reader 9 was allready installed. I wanted to open simple pdf files, but I got the message "Adobe Reader ?" in an empty field that pops up.
Why can't I open pdf files? Do I also need to install the Adobe Flash Player as well?
I would be very glad if you could give me a hint.
Thanx

It appears as if Adobe Reader is not correctly installed. Try installing the latest version 9.2 from http://get.adobe.com/reader/ - make sure that you uncheck any unwanted software bundled with the download.
P.S. no, you don't need Flash Player to open PDF files.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

• Why can't I open my Hotmail or MSN live emails on my mac?

Why can't I open my Hotmail or MSN live emails on my mac? also the google pages like google map will not open
Is this some kind of sick joke being played by APPLE for not having bought a Mac before and for daring to have a windows based email ?
I've tried Firefox, Safari, Opera and Explorer none of them will allow the window pages to open up nor can I get Mail to open up my non yahoo emails
I have tried to post this on the communities board several times but the question always vanishes

So you get the log-in screen for Hotmail but it won't complete the log-in? I also take it from your posts that there is no error message that appears to give any indication of the nature of a problem, it just doesn't complete the log in? That sounds like it could be an issue with your Hotmail account. Have you tried logging onto your Hotmail account from another computer, say a computer from work? If not, then the first thing to do is try logging in from another computer. If you don't have one anywhere else, go to a public library and use one of theirs and try logging into your Hotmail.
There is no reason why you would be blocked from Hotmail/Live, Google pages and such while other pages (such as this) are accessible unless one of a few things are happening:
1) You don't have access to those pages because of account lock-out (that's why you need to check your ability to access Hotmail from another computer -- to verify that this is not the case).
2) Something is actively blocking access to those pages. This could be one of a few things:
a) ISP settings, which you seem to have eliminated when you indicate that you tried accessing Hotmail from another location than your default location, if in fact that other is connected through a different ISP, although in actual fact you did not indicate that you verified that the other access point you tried was actually connecting via another ISP.
b) Router settings, which you did pretty much eliminate when you tried accessing Hotmail from another location than your default location.
c) Software blocking. This could include the following:
* Add-ins: You seem to have eliminated the likely hood of this when you indicate that you've tried multiple browsers.
* Security software: Family blocking/URL blocking software would cause similar issues across all browsers. If you had installed anything of this nature, this would be a suspicion.
There is one red flag I see amongst all this. You indicate that you have a Macbook Pro running OS X 10.6.7 with membership in these forums showing a start date of March this year, your posts suggest that you recently purchased a Mac, and that your prior posts have disappeared (son't know how far back you were meaning, although I do see one from 3 days ago posted in the Windows section). My question has to do with something you wrote earlier in this thread: "I've tried Firefox, Safari, Opera and Explorer". Uh, would that be Microsoft Internet Explorer? How do you have that installed?

• Why can't I open my PDF's?

Why can't I open my PDF's?

Beats me. Can you tell us any more about it? Some of the things you might want to share include:
- your version of Adobe Reader or other PDF software?
- any message you get (exactly, in full)?
- your system (e.g. Windows 7, Mac OS Lion)?
- if you're running another app (e.g. Outlook, Chrome) what is it?
