Why can't I open Comcast email in Firefox browswer... but can in Chrome?

Since one of the recent Firefox upgrades, I haven't been able to get past the preview window on my Comcast email. I now need to use Chrome to get to my emails, but would prefer Firefox, but haven't found a solution that works. Is the problem related to the Java Script add-on that is disabled?

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

  • Why will PDF not open from email?

    I recently modified my Adobe Reader 9.1 (with instructions from the bank) to be able to electronically sign documents.
    Since then I can not open any PDF documents from email.  I went back and reversed the changes I made. I uninstalled Adobe and reinstalled it. No luck.
    I have to save the documents and open them from Windows Explorer.
    Any Ideas?

    A fast workaround for PDF problem (See my original post)
    In Firefox:
    Open Tools > Options > Under Main tab click Save files to > click Browse
    Scroll up or down to find where you want it to go (I put mine under Documents because it's the easiest to find).
    Click New folder and label it something you will quickly recognize.
    Now when you click on a PDF attachment it will automatically be sent to that file and you can double click or open
    it in Adobe Reader
               ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    (Note) If I use Internet Explorer (I have not used IE in years) I can open PDF's from Hotmail with out a problem.
    I like Firefox better so I will continue to use the quick workaround until somebody finds a fix.
    If you use IE, here are the instructions for saving PDF files.
    Click
    to open Windows Mail.
    Open a message that contains an attachment by double-clicking it
    in the message list.
    In the message window, click the File menu,
    and then click Save Attachments.
    Select the folder where you want to save the attachments.
    By default,
    Windows Mail saves attachments in your
    Documents folder. If you want to save the attachments to a different folder,
    click Browse, and then select a folder.
    Select the attachments that you want to save, and then click Save.
  • I I cannot sign out of my comcast email in Firefox but I can do so in IE.
    My husband and I each have our own email account on Comcast email. We almost always use Firefox to open it. Suddenly, I cannot sign out of my email account on Firefox. I click on sign-out, then click on sign in, but the email automatically goes to my email account. After signing out, and clicking on email, it sometimes says "oh oh, you're not signed in." But when I click on sign in, instead of giving me the sign in box it goes right to my open email account. Just can't get out of it. When I am on IE, I can still sign in and out of both Comcast accounts without a problem.
    I use a laptop with Windows 7 or 7XP I believe, not sure which it is. Thanks for your help.
    Try to clear the cookies from that Comcast website.
    "Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
    If clearing cookies doesn't work then it is possible that the <i>cookies.sqlite</i> file that stores the cookies is corrupted.
    Rename (or delete) <b>cookies.sqlite</b> (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookies files like <b>cookies.sqlite-journal</b> in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
  • Cannot open Comcast email
    Just the evening (Saturday June 22nd, 2015) I have not been able to open my email. I get as far as signing in and then nothing else happens.I reset the modem and still cannot get into my email.I sign in and nothing.I have never had this issue before and naturally am not happy.Thank you....
    Clicking on the blue hyperlink of a new message in the Inbox Preview window all of a sudden works for me today, where it didn't work yesterday or before.
    Try using the '''View Entire Inbox''' button under '''''Inbox Preview''''', to be able to see your entire inbox.
  • I am unable to open my emails using firefox, I get message page not found 404
    I am having problems opening my emails, a page with 404 not found with the following message 'The requested URL /dc/launch was not found on this server.
    Apache/2.2.9 (Debian) PHP/5.2.6-1+lenny9 with Suhosin-Patch Server at uk.mg.bt.mail.yahoo.com Port 80'
    I have found a way to access my emails by changing my running program eg internet explorer or google. But I don't understand why this has happened, it only affects my emails when I use firefox
    The updater may not have been able to update all the files and some were left as older versions.<br />
    You need to do a clean reinstall.
    Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
    Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
    Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
  • Outlook 2010 - User tends to open many emails at a go but this may slow down the machine.
    Hi,
    My user tends to have this work habit of opening 8-10 emails at one go. She view this way of working as more efficient and faster. But this means that if outlook crashed, all the emails will be close as well, and this way of working tends to slow down the
    machine.
    Is there any way Outlook can users to open multiple emails without hording CPU page milage?
    Thank you.
    Hi Josh,
    Slow Outlook can be also harmful for your database and there are numbers of factor which slow down the MS-Outlook like:
    * Third Party Plug-ins
    * Slow internet connection
    * Antivirus/ Firewall Programs
    * Corruption or Error within Outlook
    So always try to open Microsoft Outlook in safe mode whenever you stuck in such problems.
    How to optimize Outlook performance:
    * By Disabling add-ins
    * Check default account settings
    * Disabling Scanning programs
    * Scanpst.exe (Inbox Repair Tool)
  • When I open Yahoo email in Firefox the mail listing names are overlappint and are not readable, how do I fix it?
    When I open my yahoo email in Firefox and all the list of all the mail I received Inbox shows up the listing of email received are partially hidden or are overlapping. How to correct this?
    I have Java (TM) installed on my computer. I have Windows 7 operating system.
    Your immediate reply will be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    You can't use File > Open File to process server side includes. That will only work if you use File > Open Location and if there is a server that can process the file. If you use File > open File then you open that file directly in Firefox (bypassing a server) and only the HTML code will be processed and not SSI code.
  • I want to open my email using firefox, but since installing Google Chrome, all email links are opened with it, and I don't have access to my firefox tool bars to email a page, etc.
    All email are opened by Google Chrome since I installed it. I want to use Firefox with its toolbars for emailing pages, etc., and there seems to be no easy way to email a page using Chrome.
    I tried uninstalling Chrome, but then could not open any email.
    I have created a podcast for my class and stored it on my college's server. It will open fine in Safari but the faded blue Q with a question mark appears if I try to open it in either Firefox or Netscape. Is there a plug-in issue here? I would appreciate some help on this one. Thanks.
  • Why can't Chrome find the webpage when Previewing in Browser?
    Hi -
    This is thoroughly bizarre to me.
    I can preview any site I'm working on using any browser I have except Chrome (current version 33.0.1750.152).
    As an example - when I use Preview in Browser - Chrome says "the webpage is not found" - the path to the page is:
    file://external-drive/_PROJECTS/CLIENT/_files-from-client/_SITE-031614/index.html
    My next step is to manually navigate to the page using Chrome's File/Open.  This works perfectly but when the page appears the path is different:
    file:///Volumes/external-drive/_PROJECTS/CLIENT/_files-from-client/_SITE-031614/index.html
    This second path is the same path in the Manage Sites/Site/Local Site Folder line.  All other browsers (FFox, Safari, Opera) use this second path.  But for some reason Chrome has shortened the path to an incorrect address.  Weird!
    I don't think this is related to Mavericks because it was happening before that upgrade.
    Has anyone else had this happen?  Can anyone explain how I can fix this?
    TIA your insight.
    JL2
    BTW - other details:
    Dreamweaver version 12 (CS6), Mac OS X 10.9.2.
    Hi jl200,
    I have the same problem since few weeks, and I am absolutely sure that jdaco answer isn't correct. All my files are on a desktop (iMac hard drive) all times and Dreamweaver has a problem with a preview in the Chrome browser. Few weeks ago everything was OK, so there isn't a problem with the files location. I think the problem has started after the last Dreamweaver update. Unfortunately I don't have any idea what to do to resolve this issue.
    You're right, the answer provided might be part of the problem but it's not the solution to the whole problem. My files are located on the computer too and Chrome will not preview them, sometimes, most of the time.
    I can't be asked to find out exactly why so I use Firefox or Safari.
  • Why can Google Chrome browser display PDF that Reader cannot?
    I have a large PDF of a 2300-person family tree (400 pages if printed) that I am trying to share with family.  The PDF is produced by MacFamilyTree on Mac OS X 10.8.4  It has the ability to simply "Save" the Graph as a PDF and I can also ask it to "Print" and inside the "Print Dialog" I can ask it to "Save as PDF".  I have created the PDF both ways, and have the same problems with both.
    Using Mac OS X 10.8 and Apple's Preview program, I can view the PDF and search inside the PDF just fine.  If only all my relatives were on Macs my problems would be solved.  But alas, they are predominantly on Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8) with all the annoyances that are entailed in trying to help troubleshoot non-technical people who have no idea what software they have or have not installed or updated.
    Using the Google Chrome browser on Windows 7 (64-bit) and on Mac OS X 10.8.4 I can view the PDF, but search fails.  Being able to see the family tree will certainly be a bonus to family members, but the first thing they all want to do is "Find Myself" in the tree.  So getting a solution that both displays and allows for search (like Preview does) is what I'm hoping for.
    These other browers (Safari, IE, FireFox) all the latest and greatest, downloaded today with fresh installs, fail to display the PDF on both OSes (obivously, IE was only on Win7 - not 100% sure which version it was, probably 9).
    Acrobat Reader, version 9.5, and the current latest version on both Win7 and Mac OS X fail to display the PDF at all.
    If I reduce the scope of the family tree, down to say 300 people, then pretty much all of these programs are able to display it just fine.  Search is still mostly broken, but display works.  If I reduce it even futher to just a couple dozen people, then display and search works great everywhere.
    The largest file itself is only a tad larger than 4MB.
    The document is not very complex - just a bunch of lines connecting people to their spouses/children/parents and small boxes around each "person" with their name and a little bit of other text, like wedding/divorce and death information.
    It's as if all the engineering teams (other than Chrome and Preview) decided to impose an artificial limit on the size of single PDF "page" and the family tree has simply gone past that limit.
    Any suggestions?  Any chance Reader can be tweaked to be at least as good as the Google Chrome browser or Apple's Preview programs?
    I think you might be hitting a page size limit of 200 x 200 inches in Adobe software. Larger files typically appear blank.
  • When I open Safari why does it not open my pre-set home page, but instead opens multiple previously viewed web pages?
    I open up Safari and expect it to go straight to my home page, but instead it seems to open any number of previously viewed web pages.  I have recently installed Lion and I don't recall this happening with Snow Leopard.  Any ideas...?
    Hold down the shift key as you click the Dock icon. This will kill the automatic "resume" feature found in Lion.
    Hold down the Option key when you use the Safari menu to quit the app. This will "discard windows".
  • Gmail frozen opening an email with Firefox 3.6
    Firefox 3.6 freezes when loading an email from gmail. Happens with any email. Works fine on (hiss) IE. Started last night. Using WIndows XP. Have not tried from another PC yet.
    I had the same problem when I changed to from Gmail from Googlemail. It worked fine on IE8 but froze in Firefox. I tried clearing all cookies, re-starting PC etc. but still no change so I changed back to Googlemail again. This was difficult to do as although I changed back in IE it still loaded as Gmail in Firefox even after clearing cookies. I could not change back on Firefox because it just froze on loading page so I could not get to account settings.
    In the end I copied the link to my signed in Googlemail account in IE into Firefox browser and changed the settings from that link.
    I will keep it as Googlemail now rather than risking the change again.
