Why can't I open pdf's after install of adobe reader? Should I see it in system preferences?

There are can be reasons PDFs cannot be opened. For example, some forms created with Lifecycle Designer cannot be opened.
Are you sure the file is a PDF? Can you open it in Adobe Reader or Acrobat on a Mac or PC? Does it give an error message when you try to open it?

Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds).

  • TS3212 I have downloaded iTunes, but every time I click on the link it does not open. Why can I not open iTunes after downloading?

I have deleted old versions and uploaded the new version. Now that I have completed the install, I cannot open iTunes. I double click it on desktop and it shows thinking symbol for one second and doesn't open. I go through the start menu and it does the same thing. Help!! Please.

Can you check something for me please?
Restart your PC. after the PC restarts, bring up your Task manager, and go to the "Processes" tab. Click "Image name" to sort the processes alphabetically.
    Now try to launch iTunes.
Does an itunes.exe process appear? If so, does it vanish after a second or so, or does it persist in the Processes tab (even though iTunes itself never shows up)?

  • Why can't I open itunes on my pc

I've tried downloading itunes and icloud to my pc so I can sync my music to my ipad2, but when it finishes downloading I can't open it.  I saved it to my desktop but when I click on it to open it, the internet explorer screen pops up for a second then closes almost instantly

I posted, separately, and, this may be a widespread problem.
I uninstalled, and tried to reinstall iTunes four times, wasting a tremendous amount of time.
typically, the error message was that "iTunes was not installed correctly. Error 7(Windows error 126).
The original error message was R6034, and involved Microsoft.net Framework.
I tried to update iTune, soon after installing Windows Updates on my XP-SP3. I did not update iTunes on my 8.1, and it is fine. My suggestion is to ignore any urging to update. At this point, I have lost iTunes on my old computer.

  • Why can't I open iTunes?

iTunes will not open on my Mac. I did an update last week and now I cannot open it.

    Hey Iansgolf,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with iTunes on OS X. The following resources provide some great trobuleshooting and isolation steps:
iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3430
There are several ways in which an add-on can cause iTunes to act erratically, such as those listed below:
    - Loss of iTunes functionality, such as the Visualizer.
    - Distortion or irregularity in the iTunes interface.
    - Slow performance.
    - iTunes won't open or quits unexpectedly.
    - You see an alert while syncing stating "... cannot be synced. A duplicate file name was specified."
If you notice any of the above symptoms or other unusual behavior, you can disable any plug-ins not manufactured by Apple by opening iTunes in Safe Mode. This is done by holding down the Option and Command keys (on Mac OS X) or holding down the Shift and Control keys (on Windows) while opening iTunes. If performed correctly, you should see the following dialog before iTunes finishes starting up:
"iTunes is running in Safe Mode. Visual plug-ins you have installed have been temporarily disabled."
Isolating an issue by using another user account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4053
    Symptoms
When isolating issues and/or troubleshooting software issues in OS X, you might want to use a different user account. Learn how to use this technique to narrow down the cause of an issue.
    Resolution
The issue at hand may simply be caused by a bad preference setting or user-specific data file. With proper isolation, you can avoid time-consuming and inappropriate troubleshooting methods.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Why can't I open iTunes on new iMac?

My wife has a brand new iMac running OS X Lion. She already has an iTunes account which she accesses on a year old iPad. She can not access her iTunes library or even get the page to open on her iMac. Going to Finder - Applications, shows iTunes as one of her apps but it will not open. The iTunes icon is on her task bar but all it does is bounce when clicked on. The bar at the top of the window has switched to itunes ( showing controls- File, View, Edit etc) but no page opens.  We are both newbies, are we missing something obvious?

Since it's brand new I'd call AppleCare and let them walk you through it. They will have you try things and you can give immediate feedback and they will take you to the next step. That would take us too long here. Apple's service is very good.

  • Why can't I open itunes on my computer?

Whenever I try to open itunes from my dashboard, the icon just bounces up and down, but does not open itunes.  Any ideas what's wrong?

Let's try a repair install of iTunes first.
Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
Can you launch your iTunes now?
