Why can't I open pages in icloud from desktop?

All of my devices are updated to the latest version of icloud. I only have one version of Pages on my desktop and I can't open any doc that is on the icloud. I can go so from my idevices and the browser version but not from my mac. I only get a message that the document can't be opened. No reason given in dialog. box.
I can move from icloud to desktop and open but when I move it back it can't be opened.

Yes you are right, the whole thing is one ginormous mess, thanks be to Apple.
Far from getting painless round transfer between iOS, OSX and PCs we are getting in practice very limited compatibility even between Macs and iOS devices and reports of files that abruptly refuse to open anywhere and can not be rescued because they are in an overly complicated file format.
Go to the iTunes Store and the App Store and rate/review the latest Pages.

Why can't Bridge open my raw files from my new Canon Power Shot 120-S camera? I'm using PS-5 and had no problems with other Canon cameras. I downloaded Adobe Camera Raw 8 but this has not resolved the problem.

Why Can't I Open Pages App??

I just updated pages and now the app wont even open. I can't even open specific documents. What can I do to fix this issue?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Can/Could/Why-Can't-We Open a Terminal Window from Finder...

I do a lot of development needing a terminal window but also need to bounce about a lot between file system areas (my machine, our NFS drives in our fleet, etc.).
It'd be nice if we could open a terminal window from Finder. I.e., If I'm in Finder and see that I need to work in the terminal window (be it with IDL*, NCL, gcc, etc) I can do a quick GUI click or keykick or whatever, and be happily dropped into a terminal window in that directory. The alternative for me now is to open Terminal from my doc and dig through the file system to my destination.
Can I do that in Finder? I seem to remember in a past life with (ahem) an certain other "operating system" that just released their "apology" edition, that you could do this from their File Exploder. If not, gee, wouldn't that be nice to add, kids?

It worked on the local mac, my unix nsf drives, and the samba drives to which I am connected.
I also tried the cd-to script but as I use tcsh it was not working for me. Other potential users have apparently cited the problem as well (nice simple icon graphic for the finderbar though).

What is the iTunes version you are having, and what is the MacOS X version?
Both versions need to match - iTunes 11.1 needs MacOS X version 10.6.8 or later. Is your profle signature Mac OS X (10.4.10) correct?

Have you updated Pages on the iPad? The iWork for iOS apps are free for anyone who has activated an iOS device for the first time since September 1, 2013. If your iOS device is older than that you will have to purchase the apps or a new device.
If your iOS device was activated for the first time after September 1, go to the App Store on your iPad which should open to Featured. If not, tap on Featured at the lower left of the screen & scroll down to Collections & tap on New to the App Store? then scroll down to Apps Made by Apple & tap. You should now see the iWork & iLife apps as "FREE."

Why can't I open mail of icloud

I try to login to mail icluod but I get a message that the mail or secret code incorrectly while I enter from the same account posted in Apple not problems

Try closing Settings completely and then see if it works when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Settings 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Settings app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Why can't I open simple pdf forms from IRS since Maverick upgrade?

Since my ugrade to Maverick I am having several frustrating challenges primarily with Numbers and today tried to open a downloaded pdf irs form and I coninue to get message that Adobe cannot open because it does not support this form or it is corrupted??? Is there something I need to do with Adobe now? I have 10.1.8 Adobe and 7.0.1 Safari. I don't seem to be behind in software updates.

are you able to open your downloaded IRS PDF form in Preview? (It can be found in your Applications folder.) If it is also unable to open it, then perhaps the download of the form was interrupted before it completed.
At the moment, 11.0.06 is the latest version of Adobe Reader which supports Mavericks.

Why can't I open a jpeg photo from my mail app on my iPad?

There is no download button at the end of the mail. Usually I just tap on the photo and it download itself.... I've received other photos in the meantime, also Joel and these ones I can open... I don't understand! :-S

Why can't I open folders or documents on desktop?

I did nothing unusual. Was working on a document using Appleworks, saved it on desktop. Went to open folder where I planned to place it. Nothing happened. Went back to that document. It won't appear. Tried other items on desktop. Nothing. HELP. I need to print document by 12 hours.

Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), & use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, try dragging this file to the desktop, then reboot...

I have iWork's 9 that inludes pages 4.3. I created a document that I saved. When I tried to open the document today, I was advised I needed a newer version of pages to open the document. Why can't I open an existing pages document?

I have iWorks 9 that includes Pages 4.3. I created a document and saved it as a "pages" file. When I tried to open the document the next day, a dialogue box told me I needed a newer version to open the file. The information provided stated the new app would cost $19.99 and the customer ratings are quite low. Why can't I open a previously created document in iWorks, regardless of the version. This is the first time Apple has demanded that I pay for a new version to open existing documents.

I am with Peter on this issue. Additionally, if you installed the latest IOS Pages (v2.01) on an iPhone or iPad and opened a .pages file on iCloud that was created by Pages ’09 v4.n, or IOS Pages v1.7.n — that document is now in the new .pages file format and only Pages v5 on OS X can open it.
