Why can't i pick up signal when everyone else in the flat can?

i've got an ibook g4 thats just over 2 years over.
i placed an airport extreme card in my laptop a few weeks ago and i have tried everything to try and get signal. 2 of my flat mates have got pc's and they have no problems and my other flat mate has also got an ibook g4 that is only a year old and came with the card. she is able to pick up signal anywhere in the flat.
if i want to use the wireless i have to sit next to the shevels where the rooter is placed. just moving to the other side of the room i have no signal. i have no idea what i can do now could it be my laptop its self.

Use the photos in KB 108039, Properly attaching the antenna on an AirPort Extreme Card to verify that the antenna wire is properly connected to the card.

    the wifi ones can get their location from the wifi router if the router support it

    You can name it something other than index, but will be harder to find.  when you create the subjects and link to them, they can can be named anything with the html extension  Or if your using PHP end in .php. There is a Microsoft type asp or aspx but your hosting service has to set up using windows server system.
    My hosting service use a Linux server normally but can convert Windows for a Fee.  UNIX Linux has no concept of asp or aspx.

    Flip the Ring/Silent switch. Make sure Vibrate when silent is off in Settings>Sound.

    Thank you for your response.  I have just had everything sorted out on your on-line chat with Justin.  I didn’t understand the difference between the two subscriptions.  I don’t need to store images in the cloud so I have changed to the $10/month plan.

    Does the cursor move as you type?
    Reset the tool by right clicking here to see if that is the remedy.

    Try reset ipad. Hold down Sleep and Home button for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo.

    Hi,
    You can change it in several ways.
    In Messages > Preferences > Viewing you can change your outgoing background (Balloon) colour, which then gives you access to change the Font and it's text colour.
    This works Mac to Mac in Messages using any service (iMessages, AIM, Jabber, Bonjour and yahoo).
    iMessages users on iOS devices will not see it as it does not do coloured Balloons  (the App only colours your outgoing ones to tell you if it is SMS or iMessages but does not send the colour)
    You can also change individual IMs or iMessages by using the Format menu (Show Font and Show Colours)
    And as Eric says there is the Keyboard/Contextual Menu method.
    As lots of yours are "white" I presume this is iMessages on several iPhones and one computer.
    iChat (the forerunner to Messages used to attribute random colours to incoming IMs in a group chat so they (people) looked different.
    This can't be done in Messages 7 and 8
