  • Why can't I post a new topic in the Leopard discussions.

The option is available in other Apple discussions, but for some reason it's not an option for me in the Leopard area.
I just want to ask a simple question about why Firefox is now launching every time I restart my computer, but don't want to do so in a discussion about Final Cut or iLife or any of the other forums where posting a new topic is an option because that would be bad etiquette. At the same time, I'm not given much of an option.

    Hi dddnlb!
"Why can't I post a new topic in the Leopard discussions."
The info posted below is also available in the Announcement How to Post a New Topic
If you have a Technical question about Apple Hardware, Programs, Services, Technology, Software, Applications, Products, etc, from this page Discussions - Forum Home, select an appropriate Category from one of the sixteen divisions.
For example, under Mac OS X Related Software, choose the Category Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard.
On the page that opens, select a Forum, such as Installation & Setup, or Using Mac OS X Leopard.
Most Category pages, have numerous Forums within them.
But some may have only one, two, or three.
For example, the Safari Category page, has three choices listed under Forum / Category:
    Safari For Windows
    Safari for Mac Support forum
    Safari 4 (Beta).
And the Apple Remote Desktop Category, has only one Apple Remote Desktop Forum.
From a Category page, select an appropriate Forum to post in.
On Forum pages, there is an option to Post New Topic.
More info here How Is Discussions Content Organized?.
Edit: I have requested that a Host, relocate your Topic to a more appropriate Forum.
As it will be transferred, it is not necessary for you to repost elsewhere, at this time.

  • Why can't I post my resume from Pages to the web or an email on my iPad?? I've tried using iCab, downloading google docs, etc. I understand it's not possible from iPad but why???

Why can't I post my resume from Pages to the web or an email on my iPad?? I've tried using iCab, downloading google docs, etc. I understand it's not possible from iPad but why??? If I can't use safari to do it is there any other way?? Seriously, are iPads only used for watching Hulu, playing games, fb and twitter? My phone can do that!! Worst $500 I ever spent.

We don't want to email it.....  we want to upload it.
Then why did you say (emphasis added):
Why can't I post my resume from Pages to the web or an email on my iPad??
There are plenty of methods for putting a resume online, where a potential employer can download it, though admittedly the iPad is less flexible in this regard than a computer.  Nobody ever has claimed otherwise.  However, I get the feeling you're not actually looking for an answer to anything, and you're just posting to complain.  Note that that is a violation of the Apple Support Communities Terms of Use, which you agreed to when signing up for an account here.
I wish I had gotten a Galaxy Tab.
Then sell your iPad and go buy one.  You will have no problems whatsoever finding a buyer.

  • Why can't i post my question

why can't i post my question

The 2nd ethernet connection goes to an ethernet splitter that connects to my Yamaha Amp, Apple TV Living Room, thunderbolt connected MacBook Air, Bell HD PVR Sat Receiver and Xbox One.
By splitter I presume you mean switch.. as long as it is gigabit there is no issues.
Some of you info is a bit hard to follow and I cannot really comment.. wireless links are necessary evil but to be avoided as much as possible.. in particular no double hop wireless.. that means all wireless AP should be ethernet linked back to a main router.. when you extend wireless you halve the speed. You also make the network less reliable.
I have used the "Guest Network" in an attempt to prioritize specific home connections when Guests arrive.
Guests is for keeping the clients out of the main network.. it has no particular QoS attached to it.. although when you extend wireless in guest network it does seem to go super slow.. this I think is more a bug than deliberate. Apple routers have no support for qos.
    What is the best configuration?
All ethernet.. any wireless should not be extended.. only single hop to any wireless access point.
Should I attempt to assign wireless channels to our devices to improve connections?
Only if auto fails.. if it does then take control of the whole thing.. but you need to spend some time doing wireless surveys around the house.. start with the main AE with nothing else.. work out what signal levels you get and where the dark areas are.. then power on the TC and whatever express are associated and do the survey again.. get levels of each AP as seen by client in the places you want to use them.. conflicting wireless signals should be separated as much as possible but it is not so easy as there are only 3 non-overlapping channels at 2.4ghz namely 1, 6, 11 and using in between channels is not really going to help. 5ghz has more available channels but AC chews up 80mhz by itself so that doesn't leave so many.. although 5ghz wireless range is less so interference is less of an issue.
You also have to check what wireless is around you.. and that adds so much to complexity you might as well leave things on auto.. although I break that rule when I extend wireless because I think it is less than stable so the less auto the better.. and another reason to avoid extend wireless.
Or assign static IP addressees to the ethernet wired components?
Static IP can help but you should always use dhcp reservation on the main router. That helps to keep the ARP tables correct.. although Yosemite has real network issues.

  • Why can't you post direct links to the full installers?

    Not a tough question:
Why can't you just post direct links to the full installers instead of forcing people to sign up for "Distribution" EVERY DAMN RELEASE!?!?
Why do I have to fill out that form and wait a day after EVERY, SINGLE, RELEASE just to update more than one system? I have 150,000 nodes to upgrade. Why does Adobe go out of their way to make this difficult? Why the hell don't you inform people who already signed up about the new installers BEFORE they go to auto-update so system administrators could actually distribute them beforehand?
How could this possibly be a good thing for Adobe? I just had 50,000 nodes try to upgrade on their own, ALL OF THEM failed. That's 750 GIGABYTES of bandwidth you just wasted Adobe, yours and mine.
No more Flash updates I guess. There is no reason this has to be so terrible.

The download links for the offline installers are posted multiple times in this forum every day: http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player- windows.html#main-pars_header
And if you have signed up for a distribution license, you can always go directly to http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html for your corporate downloads.  There is really no need to sign up again.

  • Why can't I post on the community boards

Cannot post or view anything on the community boards even though I have a working account.

Also, the main problem that I am trying to solve by accessing the community boards is controlling of a unipolar stepper motor that is connected to an arduino duemilanove.  I have the LIFA tool kit which is the tool kit designed specifically for the arduino to interface with lab view.  Ideally I want to be able to use lab view in conjunction with the arduino to turn the stepper motor 90 degrees by pushing a button on the block diagram and stop. Then, when I push another button on the block diagram the stepper motor will return to the orignal position and stop.  This is to simulate the opening and closing of a garage door.  If you can offer any help on the community board question or the stepper motor code it would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you

Maybe you can help me on this one: "huge data hog" started by Aframer. It has 39 replies, but they are not numbered as is usual. Why?
    It, too, is locked. Why?
The notice says it branched to a different discussion, but when I click to see the new discussion branched to, I get this:
Access to this place or content is restricted. If you think this is a mistake, please contact your administrator or the person who directed you here.
How do I contact my administrator?
How can I access the person who directed you here.

  • Why can't I post comments on (blogger) blogs that I follow?

I am a blogger and I follow several blogs. A big part of the blogging community is commenting and sharing. Every time I try to comment on my Macbook Pro (or iPhone or iPad) the comments won't post. When I click publish or preview and it refreshes the text box is blank. Why?

I believe I did an update and the problem is resolved. (I am honestly not sure what changed from this morning but I am able to post comments.) Sorry for the troubles.

  • Why can I not post from my main account?

I had to create a second account to post from - any idea why I get a "user xxxxx is not allowed to post"

    Hi,
There is one forum that I know that might give you that response.
That is the Users Tips Contribution Forum
It is supposed to need Level 2 attainment before you can access it - but as the Discussions are becoming Apple Support Communities it may have been changed to Read only.
Sometimes the Hosts do "Ban" someone from posting dues to too many infringements of the Terms of Use
If this happens the person involved should get an email explaining this to the address the used to register the Account/ID.
(It can get sent to any new Email that has been changed in the Posters Profile and sometimes it then gets sent to both).
I must admit I had not thought, at all, about whether a banned Poster can actually still read the Discussions. (I had presumed their Login no longer worked.)

  • Why can I not post Questions?

    Hello
I am having trouble posting questions.. I click the Post button but the page justs refreshes.
Can anyone tell me why this is?
    Thanks,
    Stephen

    Hi
I see you have already posted a question here in this forum so it works!
I dont know why you were not able to post but sometimes I cannot post too.
It seems that the word filter is running in the background and sometimes its not possible to post because of the inappropriate content.

  • Why can't I post a question from my new system?

    Hello All:
I was just trying to post a question from my new mbp but it wouldn't allow me to do anything.  It continually gave me a message highlighted in 'red' that i was;t allowed to modify or post anything.  I've been asking questions for quite a while and have never seen this.  I also happen to have my older bmp, also logged onto the 'Apple Discussions' site, open beside me.  Can anyone explain this to me please?  BTW, my new system obviously has Yosemite on it while my older bmp has Lion.  Thanks in advance, to all those who respond.
    Regards,
    Ciaochiao

ChitlinsCC, I'm adding your reloaders to my article on how to make using ASC easier.
Here is my ASC work flow...
    1) I login.
    2) Block the automatic 30 minute logout.
Unless you do something every thirty minutes you get logged out.  The forum software waits to tell you this as long as it can to keep you in suspense  ;-) . Filling out a reply is the exception to the thirty minute window.
            Start an auto reloader.
    Safari = SafariTabReloader
Firefox = ReloadEvery: "Reload web pages automatically"
Others = Reloaders | Cerberus - Support Center
You need to pick a page that will reload over time without stalling out. It's ASC.  I've found my profile display the best to use. I get my Profile page after some  logins.  It's ASC.  Change rccharles to your apple id.
    https://discussions.apple.com/people/rccharles?view=discussions
    Reply technique
Open a new browser window.  Pick some discussion.  Open a reply window.  As long as this reply window is open, you will stay logged in.  The 30 minute times is reset as needed by the ASC software.
    3) I open another window to do my normal ASC browsing.
    4) I have a FireFox bookmark to goto the discussions that I have participated in. I've modified it to add on the content stuff.
turingtest2 recommends. Change rccharles to your apple id:
    https://discussions.apple.com/people/rccharles/content?filterID=participated~obj ecttype~objecttype%5Bthread%5D
    5) Use turingtest2's generated links with the /content suffix as browser bookmark to the ASC discussions:
Site map of Communities and Categories
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2463
    6) Adjust the ASC web page layout.
    For FireFox
I run with Hiroto's modification to user content.  This is the only way these forums are readable for me.  How to adjust the format and layout of ASC Web Pages:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-7501
    For Safari
"ASCPowerTools is a Safari Extension designed to give more control"
    http://www.etresoft.com/ascpowertools
    7) Read and answer my old posts.  I kind of memorize the time I last posted. ( It's way bad that apple eliminated the last poster to a thread. )
    8) I use tabbed browsering.  From a list of discussions, hold down the command key then click on the link. You get two tabs this way. The original window will keep where you have been.

  • Why Can't  I post to CS3 H__L?

Who made this thread bookmark only. That is VERY irritating as I had something else to say on this topic.
    >banders100
    >You should know that no one, and that means no one, that is a regular poster on this forum has the power to do anything to help you with your problems with Adobe.
Maybe maybe not. I believe ADOBE does look at these posts and take action. I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. When, however, they censor threads that is VERY bad. It makes them look bad. The Net is a tumultuous place. Get used to it.
    >However, you can still complain all you want if that floats your boat, and the only censoring will be for personal attacks and bad language.
I do agree that there is no need for anyone here to attack anyone here and bad language is offensive to some. I do feel however that just USING so called bad language should be protected under the right of free speech and ADOBE nor any of its agents have the right to censor that language. Just like everyone can just TURN THE CHANNEL if they don't like the Hollywood-spew, you can simply not read or click on another post if you don't like the language. PLEASE NOTE: I do differentiate the use of bad language to express oneself in general from the use of bad language to ATTACK someone. I say, you are an A__hole. That's not OKAY. However if I say, only a__holes use ADOBE products, I feel the first instance is a personal attack whereas the seconds is a general statement expressing high emotion. I want to know when people feel high emotion. I don't want to be attacked WITH high emotion however. There is a difference. IN one case, the poster is using so called bad language to really express his emotions about a SUBJECT. In the other case he or she is using bad language to attack a PERSON. People should not be censored for simply trying to express themselves as fully as they want and again those that chose to censor certain words from THEIR language, well that's their prerogative, but they have NO constitutional right to impose their limitations on others.
    James Jaeger

    >USING so called bad language should be protected under the right of free speech
You are misunderstanding the US law (Constitution) on free speech
This was written 200+ years ago, when "rabble rousers" would use a small printing press, or give speeches in the public square, and was designed so the Government could not suppress that speech
That means that you, as the owner of a printing press, may say what you want and the authorities may not suppress that right
That does NOT mean that you, as the owner of a printing press, absolutely must allow someone else to put his/her words in YOUR document... let them get their own printing press
Or, put another way, you may stand in the middle of the town square and falsely yell FIRE all day long... but do the same thing in a crowded theater, where someone is hurt in the rush to get out, and you will go to jail (and be sued by those who were injured)
So... if you want personal attacks and swearing in YOUR discussion forum... go right ahead
Just don't expect anyone else to allow those things... that is not free speech according to the law, that is simply following the established rules
    Just my $.02 worth

  • Why can't I post to Yahoo comments from Safari

I can not post to any comment section of any Yahoo! websites (Yahoo! News, Yahoo! Sports, etc.) from Safari. I can post from other browsers such as Explorer. From Safari, I can type my comment but when I tried to post it I am asked to sign in with either 1) Facebook 2) Google or 3) Yahoo!. I have tried signing in with these other services and I get nothing. I only have this issue with Safari on my MacBook.

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Prerferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click Details then remove all Yahoo related url's.  (deletes Yahoo cookies)
Back to the menu bar, click Safari > Reset Safari
Select:  Clear History  (also empties the cache)
Deselect the remaining boxes then click Reset.
    Quit and relaunch Safari.
If that didn't help, quit Safari.
Now open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Type of copy/paste:   ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari
Click Go then move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
    Relaunch Safari to test.

  • Why can't I post to the iDisk discussion?

I have set up an account and user name, am a dot Mac member, have logged in through both dotMac and my apple user ID, the side bar says I am logged in, but I have tried to post a message to the iDisk discussion and it tells me I do not have permission to post and have to log in. If I try to log in again, all I get is the same screen telling me I don't have permission to post and must log in.
Yet I can post a question here. What am I doing wrong?

No worries sleepydwarf... as always, a pleasure.
The only thing that immediately comes to mind is that, perhaps, you were trying to post in the User Tips Library forum where, indeed, you would get that message when trying to post.
Either way it's all academic. You're now where you want to be to post your question so all's well
