Why can't I print with Adobe XI?

I print PDFs all the time. Suddenly I can't. The problem isn't my printer, as it prints not only Word docs but it also printed the test page from the Adobe troubleshooting link. I assume the problem is related to updating to XI.
Please tell me what to do. Begging ...

Today it works, Pat, but let me explain in case this can help someone else. Nothing happened after I went through the printing motions. I'd press print, or Cntl P, or print from the pull-down menu. The dialog box would pop up, but once I pressed Print nothing happened. I even tried using an alternative dialog box. The box stayed there, but ... it just stayed there.
I did a bunch of troubleshooting based on ideas I found on other boards and sites, including trying to print them as an images. No change. But, one place suggested I press "Save as" before printing. I did that, and suddenly the entire process worked. It makes no sense to me, but I was happy with the results.
Of course, now my printer won't fax from the computer. That headache is for another day.

HP printers tend to have long names. Try renaming your printer to something more simple.
Click on System Preferences in the dock or from the menu after clicking the apple icon (top left)
Under Hardware choose Print & Scan
Right-click or Ctrl+Click on your HP Printer and choose rename printer
Type a new name e.g. My Printer (you can also add a location if you wish)
    Then click OK

OK, I have a magazine done in Flash at the following site:

Before I was able to print the Web content and had a print icon in the Flash Player window -  located between the Share icon and the Zoom out icon.

I just noticed this after the latest Flash "patch" come out.

Same issue in Google Chrome and IE.

    thanks in advance.

Companies like Adobe, Google, Firefox, etc.. no longer support anything less than 10.6. If you’re happy with 10.5 there’s no need for you to upgrade. But realize that you can’t get the latest version of many applications.

  • Why can't I print with the new version of Firefox (4.0)?

My problem has to do with printing web pages, but I am not able to change values in my Print "Properties" tab before printing. When I click to change paper size, orientation, pages to print, # of copies, etc. from the "Properties" tab, I get an error message that reads: "Prop Res DLL not loaded". I have to open Internet Explorer (and I HATE Microsoft) in order to be able to change my print properties and effectively print web pages.

  • Why can't I print from Adobe CS4 apps after installing Mavericks?

After installing OS X Mavericks, my Adobe CS4 Illustrator and InDesign apps crash when I try to print form them. I'm able to print from other programs, but not these two.

Please try Resetting the printing System:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14141
If it doesn't help, tell us more detail about your printing setup. Printer model, connection type, etc.
And use Console Utility to look at /var/log > cups > error_log and copy and paste any error that seems related to the printing failures. Include 5 lines from above each error - that's usually enough to explain what cups was doing when the failure happened.

  • Why can't I print to scale?

Adobe reader. It doesn't let you print on the scale you want.
I'm not talking about that stupid 'print to fit the page' option, which does nothing for most cases. Why can't I print with scale that I want? I'm not asking anyone how I can do it. I've read I can do it through photoshop or changing the printing paper size. Why doesn't the adobe reader have that function at all? It's like the most basic function of a paper reader. IMO, the adobe reader exists so that people can share stuff to 'print'.
Don't adobe care about the community feedback, or interface? Do they think we're too dumb to figure out scaling so they have to do it for us? What is it? This is probably why Apple is trying to exclude adobe.
Please reply if you knows why, or if you just want to rant with me.

    Terry,
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
The printing system in OS X is CUPS. To be able to use the network print protocols, you need driver(s) that work with CUPS. Not only does Canon not provide CUPS drivers, but they don't cooperate with the open source community so that Gimp-Print (free CUPS drivers), for example, could support your model. The only CUPS driver (I know of) for your model is available for purchase from www.printfab.net.

  • Does Adobe Send allow you to select how many days your files can be downloaded - as with Adobe Send Now? Also, why don't I see the virus scanning message any longer with "Send" versus "Send Now"?

Does Adobe Send allow you to select how many days your files can be downloaded - as with Adobe Send Now? Also, why don't I see the virus scanning message any longer with "Send" versus "Send Now"?

We relied upon the "days available for download" to get people to take
action more quickly. The "virus scanning" progress bar was simply another
way of knowing this activity was actually taking place - unless this is
written somewhere in the Adobe Send User Guide.....wherever that is.

  • Barcode printed with Adobe Reader XI cannot be recognized by barcode reader

    Dear Support,
We are generating barcode and convert it into pdf using Crystal Report for .NET Framework 2.0.
The pdf is opened with Adobe reader XI / FoxitReader 4.3.1. And it is printed with Avery Dennison AP 5.4 300DPI.
When the pdf is printed with Adobe reader XI, the barcode cannot be read with barcode reader, but when it is printed with FoxitReader 4.3.1, barcode can be read with barcode reader.
I've compared the two printed barcodes and found Adobe printed the lines thicker and the characters wider. Thus, two lines sticked together and become 1 line. As result, it cannot be recognized by barcode reader.
Could you explain why did this occur and how can I fix it in Adobe? Are there any settings I can change to solve it?
    Thank you very much.
Operating System: Windows Xp or Windows 7
Application: Adobe reader XI or FoxitReader 4.3.1

    Thanks Pak,
    I've attached the pdf on:
    https://files.acrobat.com/preview/47dde05c-4835-4bdc-881f-c406f8056f01
As the problem I've described in the post only occurs on specific printer, I've found a way to reproduce the barcode problem in most of the printer.
From the pdf I've provided, you may print it with Adobe and Foxit, using a printing scale of 190%.
For the Adoble one, you may observe some white lines in between the labels, and the Foxit, there are no white lines.
I do believe that two problems are related. Do you have any idea on that?

  • Why can't I print from my ipad?

I've had my iPad for almost a year now and I like it a lot. It looks very good, it performs very well even though I'm far from reaching my goal of only taking my ipad to school, nothing else.
One important reason why this won't be the case for quite a while still is that I can't print from the iPad.
Let me explain. I make quite a number of worksheets. Being a teacher this is one of the things you do so that the students have something to write on and do exercises. Over the years there have been many of these and my initial thought was to put them all on the iPad and print them when needed. But imagine my surprise when I found out that printing from an iPad seems to be near impossible.
Other colleagues of mine got themselves cheap EEPCs and they work fine. They can access the local printer easily printing whatever they wish. But I can't do that! Unless my school buys a new Air-thingy printer from HP I just won't print there! And that just *****.
I've bought a sleek and expensive machine that is so sophisticated - that I can't use it the way I want to. And that isn't even ******** about the file system that seems to be equally messed up.
My question is, why can't I print from the iPad? Printing had been announced many times before the launch of iOS 4 and then, all of a sudden, nothing more. How can this be? Why do I have to buy additional software - which is not really cheap and far from certain to work at all - just to be able to print a few pages?
Please help me understand this, as I see it, major flaw of the iPad and iOS 5.

    Thanks guys,
I seem to have understood by now.
    To sum it up:
    - I can print with the iPad directly if the printer is Airprint compatible.
    - I can print via a number of more or less working apps.
I've downloaded some HP software for my iPad and even seem to be able to access it from some other apps, that is except Apples Pages app. Sigh! So whenever I have to make changes in my documents, I still can't print.
GoodReader on the other hand lets me send my documents to the HP app, but the app/HP won't let me print microsoft docs unless I register and send my documents over to HP where the printing prep is being made, then they send it back to me/my printer. Anyway GoodReader blows my layout apart, so I must change it on the iPad, but when I do …
    It's a big catch.
You must realize that printing really isn't that comfortable and that as a spoiled old Mac user I might be excused for wishing something more workable.
The truth seems to be that I've got to carry all those docs on a USB-stick, move them over to the Windows-machine at our school and print from there - which is what I do on a daily basis already.
All those workarounds that may or may not work (check out user comments on those printing apps!) are so annoying that my overall question remains pretty much the same.
But I could also rephrase the question: Why can't I print from the so-called best tablet office app even if I am equipped with all the apps I apparently need?
Please understand that this is not Apple-bashing in any way. This is a real problem for me in my everyday life. I won't be persuading my school to buy AirPrint printers just because of my little problem and I honestly don't want to spend more money on printing apps that seem never to even have gone through beta testing.
Still, thanks for you efforts. I guess I'll just have to wait for Microsoft Office for iPad to get that big problem solved.
