Why can't I publish to iWeb?

I like iWeb. Surprisingly, it was just updated by Apple. Why can't I publish directly from Aperture to iWeb?

I think you would benefit from further exploration of the choices under the File/New menu, and to watch:
http://www.apple.com/aperture/how-to/#video-web
I think you will find that iWeb can see what you then create in its access via the Media Browser, and can even change and apply its own themes.
Keep in mind that galleries published to your iDisk, if that is you method, will be gone after June 30, 2012 from any source.
I have found the use of SmugMug to publish galleries far more satisfactory than MobileMe, and never really used iWeb to publish to anywhere except MobileMe.
Also keep in mind that iWeb is not a destination, but only a FTP, and you have not said to where you have been publishing.

  • Why can't I publish my iweb page?

It is asking me to sign in but it shows that I am already signed in... :-)

    Try this:
go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of MMe.
login with a bogus username and password like "Ying" and "Yang". This clears the caches.
login with your correct username and password.
    launch iWeb and try again.

  • Why can't I get my iWeb '09 widgets to publish?

Why can't I get my iWeb '09 widgets to publish? None of them appear on my published site, just when it's unpublished.
I'm using an FTP server, and my domain name is parked on GoDaddy.com.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you.

What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand? While viewing the site in Safari type CommandOptionA to bring up the Activity window for the site. It will list all of the files for the site and those that are missing will be marked "not found".
If there are any missing then your ftp client is not uploading all of the files. Are you using iWeb's built in ftp client? If so try publishing to a folder on the hard drive where you can first test the site with your browser before uploading to the server. Then use a 3rd party ftp client like the free Cyberduck to upload your files.

  • It's before June 30, why can't I publish?

Yes, before you say anything, I know that moblieme, iweb, etc will be no more. But, even still, publishing (even after transferring you account) is still avalible till the 30th of june. Which, is about when my blog will stop, so no big deal for me.
So why is it that when I went to publish my new blog entry that it asked me to log in? Sure, I went ahead and did, it gave me a message that I had move to iCloud. Fine. But it specifically said that I could still have my iweb services till the 30th of june. It's april 11 right now! Why can't I publish my site?

Bob ~ This post seems to be a follow-on from your first thread in which I posted a reply and asked a qstn:

...It's usually better to continue posting on the same thread unless there are substantial differences between the problems. Meanwhile, for those error msgs you could try the five steps suggested in this thread:

  • General inquiry - Why ar .Mac and publishing/accessing iWeb sites so slow??

    Greetings,
I do realize that that general topic has been addressed somehow many times, in whole or in parts. I am just shooting for a general update on the subject(s).
I have grown fond of iWeb and just renewed my .Mac subscription. I am also a user of Dreamweaver and FrontPage. I just find the iWeb/.Mac combination so straight forward and... irresistible fun to play with!
BUT, before i commit more to that environment, I need to know - again:
    1. Why is .Mac/iDisk so slow in access?
    2. Correspondingly, publishing to .Mac and iDisk is slow. Why, actually?
    3. Difficulties in accessing iWeb sites published to .Mac/iDisk when using InternetExplorer (which, whether we want it or not, IS the predominant browser out there...). We know Firefox is better at it.
    4. Ultimately, would publishing iWeb sites to other servers (I have a couple of non-iWeb websites currently hosted elsewhere) make publishing AND accessing such sites speedier?
I will appreciate any advice, input, assessment.
    - Roger T

I think it's because it's more a social server with a lot of server side features available for .Mac users and iLife applications. Therefore there's a fair amount of server work when users use it for email, web sites with slideshows, backing up, etc. A commercial server will be much faster. There are othesr here that know more about servers than I and can give you a more technical explanation. But you're right, it is slow but convenient.

  • (No .Mac Acct.) Can I still publish with iWeb?

I don't know much about iWeb. I already have a webpage and domain name and I am thinking of buying iLife but only if I can publish to my existing domain.
Sorry if this question has already been asked but I didn't find a similar question anywhere in the iWeb discussions.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Jamie

    I already have a
webpage and domain name and I am thinking of buying
iLife but only if I can publish to my existing
    domain.
If you have hosting space at your domain, of course, you will be able to use iWeb to design your pages. Then through iWeb you will save the website files to a folder on your desktop. And from your desktop you would use an FTP program to upload the site files to your webhost server. There are some tips from Tom Gewecke here on this page for hosting iWeb pages on a non-.Mac server...
    http://homepage.mac.com/thgewecke/iwebserver.html
Good luck and enjoy iLife (especially iWeb) when you get it! If you have found any of this information to be useful to you, please take the time to provide me with feedback by marking my reply as "solved" or "helpful" using those little buttons that you see in the title bar of this reply. I'd really appreciate it!

  • Why can't I publish to IPad w/o having to buy a Mac?

No one else requires that people buy an OS they do not already have.

The iPad can get books from lots of other places besides the iBookstore, so you certainly do not need a Mac to produce something it can read.
If you want to publish to the iBookstore, you can use an aggregator.  Apple has an approved list of them.

  • Why can't I publish/preview?

My second Author book won't let me publish or preview. Both grayed out.
Anyone know what I did wrong?
I see everything, can edit, change pics, etc., but can't publish or preview?
    Thanks

I had similar tonight after I'd made a lot of changes (adding images, videos). Author restart didn't work, so restarted macbook & reconnected iPad. Then it was OK again.

  • Why can't I publish a public folio with my professional DPS account?

I don't have access to the public folio publishing option from Adobe DPS. I know that we have a professional account, so I should be able to publish a public folio. I've tried to contact Adobe support many times to clarify this, but haven't received a reply.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Gregg

The folios that will appear in the app need to be published using an account that is assigned an "Application" role. You use the Account Administration tool on the DPS Dashboard (https://digitalpublishing.acrobat.com) to assign roles to accounts. Note that you can't assign a role to an existing DPS account. You'll probably need to create a new Adobe ID to use for that account and then use the Share > Copy method to copy the folios to the new application account. See Digital Publishing Suite Help | Account Administration tool. You might also want to read through the section of the DPS Getting Started Guide that covers account setup (http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/products/digital-publishing-suite-family/pdfs/dp s-getting-started-guide.pdf).

  • I can not publish my iweb site to moblie me

I had originally written and published a site with no problems.
However since then I tried to publish my changes and the iweb would show up as "not responding"
I tried other avenues to change my site which at first worked then failed so I deleted the site amd tried to start over thinking that may solve the issue.
It still will not publish merely stops reponding
Just to clarify - I found that I was able to make changes by publishing the iweb to a folder and then uploading the altered files to mobile me. This worked fine to start with but then I added some hyperlinks then uploaded the replacement html pages again - this caused the whole layout to change. This is the reason why I basically deleted the site.
I can still not publish my site now - same problem when I click the publish or publish all it freezes!

    Hello Frank,
The good thing of all your efforts is that you could determine the problem to iWeb.
    Frank Jacob wrote:
... come on apple get it together!
Well, there are at least 2 more well known issues that you didn't verify yet, at least I didn't see it in your post.
i get a portion of the files published only.
This is a clue to these 2 issues: a wrong filename or a problematic widget.
Go back in history to the point where you had your last successful 'Publish'
Have a good look at the filenames of the pages you created since then.
Is a very big chance there is a "wrong" character in the name or 2 spaces..
With a little bit of luck, when you do a Publish, you can see iWeb hanging on the name
of the problematic page (not always).
If it isn't the filename, try selectively remove widgets and do a Publish.
The moment Publish works, you've found the villain.
As this tip involves deleting things, make a backup of your domain file first.
Let me know if these tips don't apply to your situation.
I still have one radical solution at hand.
    Kind regards,
    Leo

  • Why can I not sign in with IWEB?

I have changed my password, but I can not login to Iweb. I can with Icloud and everything else but I can not publish in Iweb?

When you sign up for iCloud you are automatically signed out of MobileMe.  All you need to do is go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and sign back in to MMe.  There's no need to sign out of iCloud.
Don't forget that MMe will be discontinued on June 30, 2012 so be making plans to host your site on an alternative hosting server.

  • I have an apple id but ı can not use it for sign in to itunes connect account while publishing my ibook document. Why ı can not login? What can ı do to figure out this problem?

I have an apple id but ı can not use it for sign in to itunes connect account while publishing my ibook document. Why ı can not login? What can ı do to figure out this problem?

As note already on the iBA forum [ AppleID for ibooks publishing ], you need two IDs. You can't use your developer ID.
If you already signed up for books with that ID, you need to talk to Apple to straighten things out.

  • I can't publish to iWeb, it doesn't seem to be able to login to my icloud account. any ideas?

I've been trying to publish a site on iweb. It seems that iweb is unable to sign in to my icloud account. I push the publish to mobile me tab, push the sign into your account tab,( already a member). I get the barbers pole for 30 seconds or so, and then, nothing happens.  Any ideas anyone?

MobileMe closed in July last year.
    iCloud does not offer webhosting.
You have to find a webhost.
It's been discussed for the past 2 years in this forum, the MMe forum and all over the planet.
    Browse this forum.
    In short :
    Find a webhoster.
And since you use iWeb 08, publish to a folder and use an FTP app to put the files on the server.
Oh, and look to the right. I see these topics :

  • Why can't I use photo's edited in iPhoto in iWeb?

Why can't I insert photo's edited in iPhoto into my website design? It will only allow me to insert pictures that have not been edited. Is there away around this? Or a reason for it?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You should be able to add edited photos from iPhoto to an iWeb page. How are you adding them and to what type of page?
