Why can't I re-install CS4?

Dear friends on the forum:
I recently purchased Abode CS4 on-line
and managed to install it OK. Just the other day, however, it crashed and wouldn't let me launch it again so I
uninstalled CS4, used Cleanscript then re-downloaded the program and re-installed it--or tried to! What I got was that little window that appears right off the bat
saying "Adobe Premiere Pro Installer: Initiallizing" with the caption below reading "Checking System Profile" All well and good. However, that thin blue line indicated progress of the process gets 90% accross then stops, never to go to the end.
Any suggestions as to what I might do about this? I have a PC running Windows XP Home Edition with an Intel Pentium 4 CPU with 2.8 GHz and 2.5 GB of RAM.

Yes I did buy my copy of CS4 from Adobe, Bill. I didn't deactivate my copy before uninstalling, however. How does one do that? In any case, I went through this twice. The first time, I simply uninstalled CS4 by going through the control panel. Then I ran Clean Script but, of course, CS4 was already gone so I uninstalled all other CS4 applications (like Encore). I then reinstalled CS4 from the setup file that was already on my computer and it was when that problem with "Checking System Components"or however it was phrasedcame up. I tried uninstalling everything again and deleting the setup files, re-downloading it all and trying to re-re-install! Same problem.
I tried the link to kindly provided but it led me to "Unexpected Error" at the site where it was supposed to be. I will try again later. In the meantime, if you have any further suggestions in light of the above, I'd be humbly grateful.
A computer-savvy friend suggested that I purchase a new hard drive, install it on my computer along with my O/S (Windows XP) and CS4 and get the BIOS to point to that drive when it goes to boot up the computer. He said that I should dedicate this drive exclusively to my video work. Does any of this make sense?

First, when you say that you bought CS4 "online," did you buy from Adobe Store?
Before you did the uninstall, did you deactivate your copy?

Yes, you are right. The web-based online help is available only for the current version of Photoshop. I also discovered how to access the online help that originally came on my CS4 disk. You turn on the offline option (Windows>Extensions>Connections). With the online help from the disk and the PDFs you pointed out, I am happy. Thank you very much. Why can I download and install CS6beta but the program does not activate???

Why can I download and install CS6beta but the program refuses to be activated on the idiotic grounds that either I am not connected to the internet or my computer clock is not showing the right time? If in New Zealand we're not allowed to use the beta, why does Adobe not have the decency and courtesy of telling us so and why instead of feeding us with those stupid putoffs???

I had a note from PS Pattie ; I can't find it here. Anyhow, these were her questions and my answers:

Why can I download and install all of the Oracle ATS products for free? When I installed, I was not prompted for any licenses or to purchase anything.
I want to know why this is possible and if there are plans to charge for it in the future?

I don't know Oracle's ATS products specifically, but many of Oracle's products can be downloaded and used for free for learning purposes.
Typically, if you intend to use the products commercially then you need to pay for a licence, otherwise you are using it illegally.
This is usually described in the T&C's you agree to when you download the software.

WHY CAN'T I JUST INSTALL ANY ADOBE CS PROGRAM??!

Whatever CS program I try to install, after initializing the setup, it just disappears... It's still in the processes tab of Task manager, but it doesn't do anything...
More then a year ago I successfully installed Photoshop CS3, but after that, it just didn't work anymore. I've tried Flash CS3, Photoshop CS4 and After Effects CS3, but none of them worked.
Does anyone have a solution for this??
And why can't Adobe just make WORKING setups...? Must not be that difficult...

Why can't Mountain be installed on a 2006 iMac? I meet every system requirement.

My father would like to go ahead and upgrade to Mountain Lion. I have upgraded the RAM on his his machine and it meets every system requirement other than it was manufactered in 2006. I don't see any reason why it can't run the OS.

Can't seem to install cs4 on mac 10.5.8

I've got a Mac 10.5.8 with 2 2.8 GHz Qad-core Intel Xeon processors, 4 GB 800 MHz DDR2 ram
I'm trying to install Photoshop cs4. When I first put the disk in things seemed to go okay, but then near the end of the installation I received the message "not compatible with this platform" then I'm forced to exit. After that incident the computer won't even read the disk. Takes it in, waits about 15 seconds, then spits it back out.
I tried downloading CS4 from the web (thinking I would use my key to activate it), but when trying to install it says it cannot install (no details given), and once again I am forced to quit.
I do see the uninstall utility which asks if I want to uninstall photoshop cs4 (didn't know I had installed it successfully), but when I try to uninstall it the progress window comes up and does nothing.
I would appreciate any thoughts or help.

I appreciate the reply. I actually got it figured out. Well, kind of. I still don't know why the Mac won't read the disk, but I downloaded Photoshop CS4 from the web, went to user\Adobe\profile (I think) and deleted anything that had something to do with Photoshop. I also delted all preferences, settings, etc tied to the program. I deleted Camera Raw, Bridge, and a few other files that apparently had installed correctly. I then installed Photoshop CS4 again and only got two errors. I re-installed (did not delete files) and it repaired those errors apparently.
And now I think I'm up and running. Happy day.
If problems persist I will reinstall the OS, but so far so good.

Since the iPod Touch 4g seems to have all the hardware required why have Apple chosen to not support allow iPhoto to be installed?

iPhoto CAN be installed on an iPod Touch 4G and also an iPad 1, just use the iPhone Configuration Utility download:

Just add the Application (after downloading in iTunes) to the program, connect your iPod/iPad and click "Install".
However: You can't sync apps with iTunes after doing this (it will remove iPhoto)

This will get you a copy of reader with no enhancements/ads for other products. The new Reader needs to be installed and the company you are downloading from has no idea if you have Reader on your computer or not. They have no idea. Your credit card company is just doing its usual job of terrible support and service.

HT201364 Why can Mavericks "not be installed on this computer" when I have all the system requirements?

Something does not match up. Check your year of manufacture.

Why can't I re-install Photoshop Elements

I purchased Photoshop Elements & Premiere Elements 12 last year. I installed it once.
My computer had to be completely wiped due to a bad virus.
I re-installed the programs and at first, nothing would happen when I tried to sign in to Adobe.
I got on to the Chat support and I was told Adobe had a known problem and was working on it.
So a day later, I tried again and this time I was able to log in after changing my password twice. It would attempt to validate my serial number, and then nothing would happen. No error, no nothing.
Now, when I try to go back to chat, it says I am not eligible.
I am so upset. Why am I not allowed to reinstall?
