Why can't I render or smoothly play 1080p30 .mts file (Canon XA10 camera) on premiere

Using both a quadcore pc and a brand new quad core macbook pro both take my 1080p .mts file and bring in with yellow line....can't render workspace and won't playback smooth....occassionally a red screen appears as well. I dragged file into new item in project lower corner to create custom sequence...no help there either.
Thanks a ton!
Jason

Yellow line is what you usually get. Dont worry that is normal.
Make sure you copy the whole card onto the harddrive first and then ingest via the Media Browser.

  • How can I play 1080p MTS file without conversion?

    Hi,
I wasn't yet able to find a decent player capable to play 1080p MTS files smoothly? I acquired the snapshots using a Sony DSC-HXV9 and I don't want to convert them. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

This MTS files can't be direcly played by media player. You can find yourself a converter app. But since you don't want to convert your videos I recommend you VLC player, it may help you .But the quality may not very good. for some free converter app: Handbrake, MPEG Streamclip, freevideomaker.

  • Why can't I see the layers of cs4 .psd files passed to me in photoshop elements 11?

why can't I see the layers from cs4 .psd files passed to me in photoshop elements 11?

You should be able to see normal layers, but PSE doesn't understand layer groups/sets or comp layers. The inexpensive add-on elements+ from simplephotoshop.com will let you expand layer groups. (If you also have Premiere Elements installed you should be able to see layer groups in PSE without adding anything.)

  • How can I browse my network and play my media files?

I installed a free file explorer on my Android tablet. I can easily browse my network shares and access all my media content. I can play my movies, music, TVshows, anything by just browsing to the folder and selecting the file to play. It took me 5 minutes to figure this out on my Android tablet. I've been trying to do this for about 3 hours on my new ipad 3. I have yet to even find a file browser type app. Please don't tell me there is no way you can do this with an ipad. There is no way to play all your multi-media files with my very expensive ipad. I have so much media content I would love to access via my ipad, but I can't. Has Apple done this on purpose to lock down their devices so users can't do anything flexible? This is a HUGE difference between Android / iOS.
Also, I'm able to visit music.google.com on my Android to play my music. Besides iTunes, does Apple have a way the user can access a simple website and play their music files? I'm finding all this very troublesome and such a limited factor with Ipad. Please help!
If it ends up that Apple's brand new ipad can't easily browse a network and play media files then I'm going to return the two of them I bought. Just not a capable device if it can't do something so trivial.
    Thanks.

I'm still trying to find a way to do this simple task. Everyone has home networks now and not able to simply browse to a folder where you keep your video/music files is quite a problem with such a brand new, ultimate tablet. I can even do this with my Android phone I have. I have terabytes worth of music and movies and if I can't watch them with this ipad tablet then I for sure will return this tablet and buy Android from now on. I'm now finding out how locked down Apple products really are and how limited UNLESS you BUY an app or only go through an Apple type portal. I wonder if people know that you can't play your media you have saved at home with an ipad.

  • Seriously Apple, why can't Leopard render a transparent menu bar on my Mac?

I have a 2-year-old PowerBook 12" 1.5 GHz running Leopard 10.5.2 freshly updated today. I thought for sure I'd get to see a translucent menu bar but, no, still opaque as ever with no option to change.
Apple, let me tell you some of the things this pretty capable computer can do:
-Dynamically render transparency and reflections in a magnifying Dock
-Dynamically render transparency in Terminal windows with varying levels of transparency
-Render GPU-intensive animations such as Genie effect, rotating cube, and dashboard "splash"
-Hey, I can even boot into Linux, run Gnome, and make it's menu bar transparent!
Please stop telling me my computer is not compatible enough to display a translucent menu bar. Displaying the transparency in the menu bar has got to be one of the least intensive operations Leopard will do. It is a static image (save for seldom changing menu items) that rarely needs to be re-rendered. Terminal windows, however, get resized, dragged around and display their transparency beautifully.
Let's get some straight answers as to why this simple issue of getting a Transparent menu bar consistently displayed (ot not displayed, by choice) across all of your "compatible" hardware is such a confusing mystery.
Thanks for fixing the Stacks, at least.

Thanks for your input. While you may not mind a solid menu bar, I quite like it and would like to have one. My main gripe however, is the fact that this really just seems like some bug that Apple isn't willing to focus on, or admit to.
They say the graphics card can render "most effects" but not the menu bar. But, seriously, as I've mentioned before, why can it render transparent drop-down menus, transparent Terminal windows, transparent/reflective Dock, Dashboard ripple effect but not a simple, basic, transparent menu?
Once I get a decent answer to this, I'll be satisfied. Because right now, telling me my 64MB graphics card can't handle it seems like a load of bulls**t.

  • Why can't i open my Panasonic Lumix FZ45 RAW files in CS3?

why can't i open my RAW files?
    I have photoshop CS3 with camera raw plug-in 4.6.0.30 on MacBook Pro OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63) and a Panasonic Lumix FZ45
I have checked the list of supported cameras and mine appears to be there.
I have no available updates in photoshop so assume that I am up to date with those.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    thanks

I have checked the list of supported cameras and mine appears to be there.
Yes, the Panasonic FZ45 is listed but it was first supported by Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) 6.2.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
Then go to this table to see which versions of Photoshop are compatible with ACR 6.2: CS5 and later. Not CS3.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
So your options are to upgrade to CS6 or subscribe to CC (check out the Photoshop Photography Program: PS CC + Lightroom 5).
Or download the free DNG converter, convert all your FZ75 Raw files to DNGs then open the DNGs in CS3

Why can't I change a Word file to a PDF file with your $9.99 monthly plan? I have done so before.

Firefox is a good browser, but it comes with its own PDF viewer, which may not display PDF files correctly.  See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1158136

  • Why can't I see the Finder thumbnails for .mov files with alpha channels?

Ever since I upgraded to Mavericks I haven't been able to see the thumbnail for or preview using spacebar any .MOV clips that contain alpha channels in Finder. PSDs and PNGs with alpha channels are fine, and I can still see their thumbnails and previews, it's just .MOV clips with alpha. Here are a couple screenshots:
Most of these clips are using a PNG codec, but I converted on to the Animation codec and tested it in After Effects to make sure it kept the alpha channel and it did, but the same thumbnail error persists.
Any idea why this might be or how to fix it?
    27" iMac late 2012
    1TB Fusion
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB
    16GB RAM
    OS X Mavericks
    Thanks.

ok, have copied the photos again from the memory card and hey presto, it all works fine.  So in summary...for RW2 files from GF1 camera, I have no thumbnail images, couldn't view in Preview, and neither Quickview nor Coverview were working.  Ran the bit of code provided at "https://discussions.apple.com/message/18369759#18369759" (thanks to Snoop Dogg) and then recopied the photos onto my Mac (only required for photos copied since upgrading to Lion, everything from before the upgrade is fine anyway).
    Hope others find this helpful.

  • Can OS 10.7 Lion play raw .mts files unconverted

As the title states, does Lion have the ability to play .mts files raw and unconverted?
    Gracias

    You can also use VLC

It woks very well, can read almost anything, and also lets you do conversions to other formats.

  • How to play back mts files in Bridge CS 5.1?

I figured out that the reason of slow and stuttering playback of my AVCHD clips in Premiere was that I used re-wrapped H.264 files in .mov container. That makes it easy to visualize them in QT or in the Finder, but Premiere cannot play them smoothly. The original .mts files play smoothly in Premiere, but they are not recognized in Bridge. What gives? How can I make Bridge to use the playbacl engine of Premiere so that I can first add metadata and annotations to my clips (in Bridge) and then edit them in Premiere?

yes I second that! It'd be quite helpful to preview MTS files in Bridge - especially since you can't preview them in PPro either!

  • Why Poor DVD quality Encore CS6 with Sony FS100 MTS files from PPro CS6

I am using PPro CS6 on a MAC Pro Quad zenon with Boot Camp. On PC side I was using PPro CS6 & Encore CS6 with MTS files from  Sony NX 5U with NO Problems.
I just started using a Sony FS100 recording 1080i (60) format MTS files. When I Dynamic Link to Encore, the quality of the image is very soft compare to image from previous
projects with MTS files from Sony NX 5U.When I open a previous NX5U project, it still displays and creates an excellant dvd.Need help in solving problem.

Thanks for the advice. I tryed your method with same results.
I then tried changing project quality settings with somewhat better results
    but not good enough results.
I looked at some of my previous dvds that used mts files from my Sony NX5U
and the quality was much better
that any results I am having using the Sony FS100 mts files. Even still
pictures do not look good now in Encore.
I then tried using Roxio Creator 10 Pro to make a dvd.
The results were excellant! Video files and stills are great.
I noticed that Encore CS6 is using the "Main Concept" codec to transcode.
Has something changed in the basic
settings with my Encore and can I reset my Encore to original defaults???
Any advice would be welcomed...Thanks again.

  • Why can't iPod Touch 2nd Generation play html5 video?

I have just upgraded my 2nd iPod Touch's OS 3.1.3 to iOS4, but it can't play html5 video on iPad-ready sites like (http://tv.robbreport.com/). My iPhone 3GS and iPad can play html5 videos on this website smoothly.

I'd like to report further that after changing the wallpaper the iPod Touch has somehow stopped being able to play either video or audio.

  • Why can't I render to match sequence ?

    Hi there,
I have quite an irritating problem.
I brought in an effects I did in AE which is in 1920 x 1080.
Then in Pre Pro, I also set the sequence as 1920 x 1080.
When I render, I did Export > Media. I chose "match sequence settings" but the output is always in mpeg format which I cannot change (it is the only format availabe).
So since I need to render in mov, I cannot use "match sequence settings", I select Quicktime. For the Preset, there is only NTSC & PAL DV widescreen. How come there is no option for HDV ?
As it turn out, when i click export, the output is in 720 x 756.
How to I get Premiere Pro to render in 1920 x 1080 ?
Please help me, I am desperate !!
    Thanks
    Cheers

    Oh, forgot--you're on a Mac.
Well, as I recall, AIC is limited to 1440x1080, using non-square pixels. I'm surprised that Premiere doesn't automatically reset the height and width values, but maybe that's only for non-QuickTime formats and codecs, as it uses its own export module. You will probably have to manually set those dimensions (1440x1080) and PAR (1.333) if you want to export using this codec.
That said, why do you want to use this codec? It's an intermediate codec (and not a very good one, at that), not a destination codec. What do you want to do with your file?
EDIT: Just checked on my Windows machine, and with QuickTime as the Format, dimensions do change depending on the codec selected. DV and DVCPROHD, for example, are locked, but other codecs can be changed to suit the source and destination. If you choose AIC as the codec, and the dimensions appear locked, please post a screenshot...
    Thanks Colin & Bill,
I didn't realize below the Codec chosen there is a vertical slider to surf down & change the dimension. The default for vertical & horizontal was 720 and 576, so I changed them to 1920 and 1080 and it worked. Not sure why the default was 720 & 576 but oh well ....
Colin, I select AIC simply because it says Apple Intermediate Codec ... I thought because I was using an Apple computer so I select it. Okay, what would be a good codec then ? I wanted it to be able to watch on a computer in HD.
    Thanks
