Why can't I right-click and set desktop picture?

Greetings.
I am having a lot of trouble changing my desktop picture. From what I understand, you right-click the image and click on 'set as desktop picture'. I click it and nothing changes. I have tried to download the image and set it manually through System Preferences but when I go into Desktop & Screen Saver but there are no other folders other than the 'Apple' one that have the wallpapers that come with the computer.
If it's relevant at all, my macbook pro is a 10.6.8 version.

You should be able to do it three ways, some of which you already know:
Right-click image, choose "Set Desktop Picture"
Right-click desktop, choose "Change Desktop Background"
Go into System Preferences, click "Desktop and Screen Saver"
Note when you are in System Preferences, the current desktop is shown in an indented "well." That always indicates that it is a drop target. You don't need to be able to see in the list the pictures or folder you want. Just drag it from the desktop, or iPhoto, or whatever app you're looking at your photo in, and drop it in that well, and it will be set.

If you did want to do it the old-fashioned way and drill through folders and files, you can click the plus symbol [ + ] below the list there and then you can add any folder to the list. In case you have a folder full of desktop backgrounds, for instance.
(I might be wrong about some of this since I am using 10.8)

When I learned I had to install silverlight to use MAX, I was somewhat dissappointed but I understand adopting new technologies. I did become quite irate when I tried copying the IP of my EVS. Why Can't I Right-click Open A Bookmark Into A Private Window?

Hello Mozilla,
I have always wondered why am I not allowed to right-click open any of my bookmarks from a normal window into a "Private Window" like in Opera or "Incognito Window" like in Google Chrome???
Why do I first have to click open the menu(or Ctrl+Shift+P), click "New Private Window" just so I can then be able to use my bookmarks in Private mode. In Google Chrome and Opera I don't need to open a Private Window. I can just right-click any bookmark in a normal window and automatically open it into a private window for many years now.
Why can't Firefox do the same?

Why can't it do it natively like Opera and Chrome?

How do I open/access "context menu"?
Also this Add-on does not solve the issue. It still requires me to open a menu, open a "Private tab, then click one of the bookmarks instead of the direct right click-bookmark-into-Private/Incognito-Window method of Opera and Chrome.

Why can't I right-click to see settings?

When I am using my cam and microphone on a website I cannot right-click to get to the settings manager. This started three days ago out of nowhere. What can I do? I am using Google Chrome, but I have tried it on IE and Firefox as well. I am using Windows XP.

I have tried this several times. I have also tried going to my plugins in Google Chrome and disabling Flash. When I say that I can't right click, I mean that when I right click over my cam preview, nothing comes up. Nothing at all. Why can't I right-click to save images from webpages with FF 3.6.13?

Ever since I updated my FF version to 3.6.13, I find I have trouble saving images from websites. And not just on specific websites, but everywhere (and they aren't protected or anything from saving). In the past I could right-click on them and do "save as..." Now the only option I have is "save link as..." Whenever I click on this, nothing at all happens. Is this a bug with version 3.6.13? It's really annoying.

I can have no problem in any view with a right-click.
Go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key and choose Library. Then go to Preferences folder and trash these files:
com.apple.finder.plist
com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
Then, restart, or log out and in again.
(You will have to reset a few finder prefs the way you like them.)

My mouse and trackpad on my Macbook pro will not right click. I am running Snow Leapord, just recently updated. I had this problem previously with Leapord before I updated, and it seems to have followed me.

That would depend on how you have right-click enabled/setup under your mouse and trackpad settings. Check it and change it around if needed. See what happens.

HT1338 Question: Why can't I double click and open anything on desktop?

I can double click on anything on my desktop. It will highlight it but will not open it. I can open applications from the dock at the bottom
and if I drag some things there they will open. I cannot open a program first from the dock, highlight the document on my desktop that uses that program, then open a document or photo. Inciden tally my mouse is also wildy erratic and will very quickly clear anything open on the desktop to the sides. I cannot delete anhything that comes in mail, and I can't delete or amend or aff any new or old Contacts. Any ideas?

If you select one of these files on the Desktop and perform a Get Info ( ⌘ I ) and then open the Sharing & Permissions section, is your account shown as having Read & Write access? Are there other accounts listed for the file? Does the same issue occur with files in your Documents folder?

How do I right click and save pictures in flash

I am wondering if its possible to create a flash button that
says 'save as' when you right click one of the pictures in flash.
Just like in HTML how you can easily right-click and save a
picture, I want to be able to do the same thing but in flash. Is
this possible? Would I use something like dynami pictures that are
outside the flash file but in the same folder and will be placed in
the flash movie when called upon? I very curious, please let me
know of any ideas you may have.

Call the button "target" (instance name) than your photo

If you right click Target Movie clip, you will have the

Thanks for replying again. I've got a little bit further thanks to you. I tried the US keyboard layout as you seemed pretty definte that it should work. This time I applied the setting and also started the language toolbar and selected it from there.
Hey presto, I've got the @ where it should be. Excellent.
However the single quote ' works in a weird way. When I press it, it doesn't show up on the screen. But when I press another key, I get the single quote plus the next key I press. When I press the single quote twice, I get 2 of them. This is also the same with the SHIFT ' key. i.e. for the double quotes.
Very strange. I'll look at other keyboards and see where that gets me.
