I can't save any VIs. When trying to save a VI, LabVIEW crashes and gives the following error message:
Error #3:"memory.cpp", line 996 LabVIEW version 6.1
This a new installation of LabVIEW 6.1 on a WIndows NT operating system.

What has happened prior to the save? Error 3 indicates that someone is
calling a memory manager function with a bad value, possibly from
another memory zone, but possibly corrupted.
Here is a test. Launch LV, open an empty VI, and Save it somewhere. If
this doesn't work, you have a bad installation of LV. I don't know how
it got that way, but you might want to uninstall, check the file system
using chkdsk or some other disk utility, repairing any bad tracks, etc.
Then reinstall.
More likely, the emp
ty VI is fine, and you have a particular VI that
after being executed will not save. This probably means that VI or one
of its subVIs is corrupting memory. The primary suspect in these cases
is a DLL or CIN that is incorrectly configured or passed parameters it
can't deal with. If you have more than one, narrow it down by putting
case statements around some of them or running only partway through the
VI and aborting. Then unload the VI to check for corruption. Post
again if this is the case and it isn't obvious why the DLL call is
corrupting memory.

I opened an Excel file in Numbers and made some modifications. Now, trying to save it to a numbers file, I get the message, "The file 'filename.numbers' couldn't be opened. How can I save this file?

oddly, i needed to restart my computer for another issue (i could not hear any sound no matter what i did). luckily, apple has had the insight to include automatic recovery of files and i was able to re-open these applications and have my unsaved files intact. even more strangely, i was able to save my file with the original name.
as a pc & windows convert, this whole thing was a little disconcerting. perhaps i am just used to that environment, but i have never had something like this happen there. (though perhaps i have had other things... )

Why can't I save any re-size images in Preview

I've just (stupidly?) upgraded to 10.9.2. Prior to this I could export an image from Aperture and it will be a large file size (e.g. 8.2MB). I'd then open in Preview and resize/resample the image. This would then reduce the size a lot (e.g. down to 2.4MB). This was great and I've used for some time.
Now, following the upgrade, although I can still resize/resample I can't save it. Well, it looks like it's saving but the file size in Finder is still the original size (8.2MB). Am I doing something wrong??
Interestingly, if I resize/resample and then try to do this again the before file size is the size I want it to be (i.e. the size after the first resize/resample that won't save!)
This is really rubbish but I don't want to downgrade unless I really have to. PLEASE HELP!!!!

I don't see that. I resized one and it shrunk in size as expected (although I used iPhoto--but I doubt that would be the issue).
Maybe it is just Finder reporting the size incorrectly. Since you cannot save over it, maybe it is still open in Finder.
Have you tried restarting?

Why can't I save my tabs when I exit the Firefox browser?

That is to say, where is the option that was available in the previous version of firefox?
I ''don't'' care for the option "open browsers from last time" since I may not want to save my tabs each and every time, not to mention the fact that it's goddamn cumbersome to keep going to the options menu just to switch between "show my homepage" and "show my tabs" every time I use firefox. I mean honestly.
And don't even '''mention '''the "restore previous session" option. I can't help but feel like what I'm asking is that difficult to implement. Why was it removed in the first place? It was a very important feature for me, when Firefox would ask: "Do you want firefox to save your tabs for next time" when I'd close the window, and there was an option to stop firefox from asking for those who so wish.
Please bring back that feature, it suits my needs perfectly. I hope people remember what I'm referring to. I hope "about:config" has an option to bring this back...

You can have things the old way, and even if you don't choose to restore your tabs the next time Firefox starts you can still restore your through your history as John99 mentioned, should you change your mind after restarting Firefox.

Why can't I save a re-sized image in the new size and new dpi? This just started happening 2 days ago.

I haven't been here before.
For some crazy reason when I try to save a re-sized image with a different dpi, PS6 indicates I have saved it.
But if I go to re-open the same image, its in a different (but proportional) size and its original dpi.
I also have PS3 and if I open the re-sized image in PS3, it opens in the correct new size and the new dpi!!
What's wrong with my PS6??

Thanks but I don't think you understood the question so I'll be specific.
I took an 8x12 image at 300 dpi (not ppi) and enlarged it to 20x30 at 240 dpi.
I then did a "save as" for this larger size and it seemed to save properly.
I closed the image.
When I re-opened the image in PS6 it opened as 16.667x25 at 300 dpi, not the saved 20x30 at 240 dpi.
That shouldn't happen.
When I opened the same image in PS3 it opened as 20x30 at 240 dpi the way I saved it.
So my question was why isn't PS6 opening the image as it was saved?

There's an iTunes button on the main page for that show. If that isn't working perhaps you'll tell us what error messages you see or why you cannot buy what you want.

Why can't I get any devices to show in the sidebar of a finder window?

Until recently I had devices (hard drives, DVD's, disk images, etc show up under devices in the sidebar of a finder window. Now none of these items show up. In Finder Preferences>Sidebar>Devices I nave all 4 checked (Bob's Mac Pro, Hard disks, External disks and CDs, DVDs and iPods). I tried rebooting. I tried unchecking the 4 boxes and rechecking them to no avail. It's annoying that I have to find an icon on the desktop to open these items. Any suggestions?
This is a Mac Pro running 10.9.5.

Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist and com.apple.sidebarlists.plist. Move the .plists to your desktop.
Re-launch Finder by restarting the computer and test. If it works okay, delete the plists from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plists to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

Did you already try to reset the iPad by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting, but it can clear some glitches.

View Object Editor in JHS 10.1.2 does not save any changes....

When I did exactly as the JHeadstart Tutorial says, I noticed that
in JHeadstart 10.1.2 with JDeveloper 10.1.2
JHeadstart does not save any changes I make in the View Object Editor
of the Application Structure File Editor !!!
For instance when I change the Width property of an Attribute from 60 to 5
it changes to 5, but when close the View Object Editor
and reopen it again, the Width is back to 60...
Even when I click the button "Validate the Application Structure File" before
closing the VO Editor....
What do I do ??? Is the only solution to edit the XML file
or something like that without using the VO Editor ?
Or is there a better solution ?
Does it maybe work in an older version of JHeadstart ?
If so, where is the older version available for download ?

How did you leave the JHeadstart VO editor?
The changes should be saved when you click the OK button in the VO editor itself, but they are not saved if you click Cancel, or the little cross in the upper right corner, or leave it open while going back to the Application Structure File editor. That's because it's a standalone editor (you can also find it when right-mouse-clicking the VO in the Model project). The icon in the Application Structure File editor is just a quick way to get to it.

why can't I save as my photoshop cs4 file to .png file? I don't see any option for saving .png in Save As diolog box now? It was working fine until yesterday. Neither I can open a .png file nor save my psd file to png file?
Please help. I am using Microsoft Window XP Professional and Photoshop CS4.

In Photoshop CS4, .png open/save support was provided by a plug-in. It is possible the plug-in has been deleted or moved, or has become unavailable to Photoshop because of a change in file protections.
Do you have the file PNG.8BI on your system. It should be here on a 32 bit Windows system:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Plug-ins\File Formats\PNG.8BI

App purchases are permanently tied to the ID with which they were purchased. They cannot be transferred to a new ID.
You will have to enter the password for that ID or delete the apps and re-purchase them with the new one.
