Why can't I search Forums

This seems like a very stupid question, but I cannot search the forums. I am logged in, and my user name appears at the upper right of the Adobe page, as well as just above the forum. No matter what I search on - text that's visible in the forum topics - searches return 0 results.

Why can't Preview search in a foreign language?

I have a long .pdf document in Russian but find, as in the past, that words placed in Preview's search bar always get no hits.
If Preview can display a text in a foreign language, why can't it search for words in that language?

Try Adobe Reader instead of Preview.
The basic problem is that the pdf format is not reliable for searching, and sometimes even copy/pasting non-Latin text. Depending on how it is produced, the internal representation of the text can easily become useless garbage.

I'm disappointed in Apple's inability to do the smart thing, and post a notice in the header of the site, this is a user-wide issue, you don't just hide the fact it's happening behind a server status page.

You can only sync to one computer.
You would have to transfer purchases, but the apple ID would need to be the same.
Or find a 3rd party app to transfer content.

Why can't I search icloud calendar

I can search mail, contacts, notes, and reminders.
Why, for the love of god, can I not search calendar?!!

You're welcome. If you entered new events for next week that don't appear on your iPad, they were probably entered on a non-iCloud calendar. If you have now set the default calendar to be your iCloud calendar on your phone, you will have to re-enter the events on your iCloud calendar and delete them from the non-iCloud calendar to get them on your iCloud calendar and not see duplicate events on your phone. (There isn't a way to move them from one calendar to the other.)

Had the same problem. Turn phone off completely and restart. The search bar reappears.

Why can't I search/filter on display names?

See Question. Yes, it's 'display names', so I guess you can only see them on the display while thunderbird pretends to not know them really.
Still this is a less useful non-feature which annoys me a lot.

Display name:
is useful in identifying emails from specific people like family and friends.
It is more informal.
The shortened format means the 'From' column header does not need to be so wide - especially if these emails have been filtered to suitable folders.
for example: it is more user friendly to see FROM Mum instead of the long email address and many peopke do not always send emails showing their name.
However, like many things, you are not obligued to use it in the contact properties.
Regarding searching:
It depends upon how you are doing it. there are different search methods and each will search in a slightly different way.
If using 'Quick Filter Bar' then it does not search on Display name as those options are not available. It searches on Sender , Recipient, Subject and Body. But if the display name happens to be used in the body content then it will display.
If using global search then it does search on a display name.
Enter the display name in the search eg: Mum and select the Mum and email address option from the drop down offered.
It will show display name and email address, so you can select the search parameters.
If using this method:
Edit > Find > Search messages
This method searches on specific fields/headers and therefore will not search on a display name.
So I would recommend you try using the global search option if searching by a specific display name.

Why can't i access forum threads-- everythread must be opened all of a sudden from showthread.php (?whats that)

my operating system is ubuntu
this just started. well for a couple hours i was getting repeated message for a couple of hours in terms i didn't understand, pure computer talk, from who? i don't know. i did download some email photos but did not save them. can't tell you what it said. but everything was normal at the forum. they just did a minor upgrade there in the last few hours tho also.
i put the machine to sleep for an hour or so. got back on line and can't access the forum threads. i get a window that says:

what should firefox do with this file?

I don't know much about samba, but I have had very similar problems with netbios in windows, I find it to be very unreliable and I think you would be better off with ftp, but that's just my opinion. Apart from that, are you sure you have the necessary ports opened, and so do they? And you might need a line in /etc/hosts.allow

Why can't I search on google?

For example, if I type tiger into google it will take a really long time then say the server has timed out. Or it will take me to stuff about tigers like say The Detroit Tigers website, so say I click on that..then it instantly goes to some kind of page where they want you to download programs, or buy stuff for your phone or something. I go to images and click on a pic of a tiger and it goes to the same kind of page with the programs to download and its always different programs and different web addresses. I use firefox, but tried internet ex. and it did the same thing. Im on a Dell windows xp laptop. I think my daughter went to some game website off of facebook or something and that did something. I can type any web address into the address bar and it will work just fine. Its just the search engine that is messed up. I cleared cookies too. Please help its driving me crazy! ( :

HT1338 Why can't I search in my toolbar anymore?

I now have to open google up in a separate tab/window but I used to be able to just put my search straight into the toolbar. A small thing but it's driving me nuts! It seemed to happen after my son had been playing around on it.

I've tried dragging the default toolbar back but this doesn't work. The reader button is white rather than grey so I can't click or drag that, I'm not sure if it should be like that.

Why can't I search in the location bar anymore?

I don't mind the changes made to Firefox too terribly but the one thing that's really throwing me off is that I can't search Google from the location bar anymore! Previously, when I wanted to know something stupid like how tall the Eiffel Tower is, I just popped 'how tall is the eiffel tower' into my location bar and bam, instant answers. Now, if put anything with spaces I get:
"The URL is not valid and can't be loaded."
I already went to about:config and keyword.enabled is set to true. What could the problem be? :(

Why can't I search in content?

I'm just evaluating iFS - please forgive any stupid question.
I've installed a fresh Oracle 8.1.7 and iFS 1.1 under Windows NT 4 (SP6a). ifsconfig ran
without problems and also ifsstart. I created a new user with ifsmgr and I'm having
no trouble to view the contents of the
folders via Windows Explorer and WebUI.
But I can't find any file when I search "in Content". Is interMedia configured to work
right out of the box or do I have to do something? I could not find anything in the
docs!
Also I can't find the SMBServer. I can "mount" the iFS with Windows NT but I can't find this Server (Protocol?).

Rene, did you start the ctx server? I don't know the situation on NT, but here on Unix, we have to start the ctx process manually after ifsstart.

Why can't I search istore?

I seem to have iTunes installed correctly on my Mac, can go to iStore and sign in and view my account, but when I try to search nothing happens.

All we here can say is that it's because the iTunes Store doesn't have that feature in the search. You can suggest it to Apple here:
