Why can't I see the Global Settings Manager - only the Local Settings Manager

I've had an issue with Facebook content for months following an upgrade several versions ago - can't see my own uploaded videos or certain other content although some you tube embedded stuff is starting to work since the last upgrade.
I've tried deleting various bits such as
%appdata%\Adobe
%appdata%\Macromedia
But no joy.
I wanted to see if anything on the global settings manager might have something to do with it but I get a blank where the various manager function screens should appear.
Any suggestions on how I can see MPG/MPEG/VID content, why my own uploaded stuff doesn't play and why I can't see the global settings manager bits and pieces.

Hi Chris - yep - for the first time, using chrome, I could see the settings manager.
Now is there anything there that might prevent my seeing my own uploaded videos on Fb - I can see some but not all youtube stuff but other embeds aren't working... original file format compatibility perhaps?

Why can I no longer change Global Plan options from the website?

I used to be able to add and remove the $29.99 Global Option (reduced phone minutes and 100MB data) via the web interface, but now it is no longer possible. When I click on "My Global Device & Services", I see "My Global Plan" but when I click on "Change Plan", I am transferred to a page where all I can do is change my OVERALL Verizon plan - no global features!

Thanks for trying to get that plan changed yourself, Zap13. We want to make managing your account easy. On that Change Plan page you described, there should be a tab at the top next to "Chose your plan options" that says "International & Global (Optional)". From there you should be able to make any international plan changes needed.

Why can't I see my original 'before' state in the Loupe?

Hey guys,
I was messing around in LR2 and screwed some things up. Firstly, I accidentally duplicated a bunch of jpegs in my library. I selected the duplicates and deleted them, but now something weird is going on.
Whenever I go to my tweaked photos in the develop module, I can't view the before state. It shows the 'before' edited picture as the current develop state. However, if I hit 'reset', it brings the jpeg back to the original state.
I looked at the photos in windows explorer, just to make sure I didn't write any changes to the original file, and they all preview as the original source file with no edits. However, there is an '-Edit' suffix attached to all the duplicated jpegs.
Also, when I double click the original jpeg to open it in Photoshop, it brings up the ACR4.5 panel with the LR2 changes. Why is Photoshop even opening jpegs with the Raw editor?
Did I accidentally write the develop changes to the Jpeg?
Any idea what I did or what is going on?

In Photoshop preferences go to File Handling and un-check Prefer Adobe Camera Raw for JPEG files. Why can't I see my Apple TV menu on the HDTV screen?

I just bought the Apple TV and, following the setup guide, connected it to my HDTV. I have my IMAC in the same room and I am using a wireless network. I thought that the Apple TV menu would appear on the TV screen, prompting me through a series of steps to hook up to the network. It did not do anything. I know the Apple remote is hooked up - the white light on the Apple TV flashes when I push most any button, but I can go no further. What up?

Do you have another TV you can try on or perhaps a friends? Is your TV HDCP compatible? Is it a newer model or have you had it for awhile?
Otherwise take it in to see if it will work in the apple store, to determine if it's a device issue or a communication problem with your set.

Why can't i see a movie i bought, when the audio works?

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

When you enable Photo Stream on your devices, only new photos you take or import to those devices will be automatically added to your Photo Stream. Existing photos won't.

Assuming you activated iCloud, try going to Settings>iCloud and make sure Calendars and Contacts are set to ON.

Generally I would not use Facebook for sharing any photos, it compresses the photos substantially, and when you have shadows and dark colours you get visible "bands" where there should be subtle gradients, ie at sunsets and sunrises.
It sounds like you are using two methods to upload to Facebook:
1. Sharing from within Aperture, which basically syncs Facebook with your Aperture album, so any changes made at either end gets synced, hence the deletions from Albums, although the original file should still be in your library, just removed rom the album. It is like a playlist in iTunes.
2. Exporting pics and uploading to Facebook from the browser.
I am not sure how method 1 gets compressed, but I know that uploading hi-res jpegs to Facebook using method 2 results in poor quality images.
I wouldn't even bother comparing option 1 or 2, and they will both be poor images once you view them on Facebook, as opposed to viewing uploaded images on proper image sharing / hosting sites.
Your problem is not with Aperture, it is using Facebook for showing your work.
If you export pics form Aperture at high res jpegs or TIFFs your images will be fine.
If you insist to use Facebook as your way to share your work, then your workflow should be this:
1. Right click images you want to share.
2. Select Export version.
3. Export as 100% size and ensure the export settings are set at 100% quality.
4. Upload this pic into Facebook.
This will get you the best image size and resolution on Facebook.
See how you go.

Why can't I see my iTunes Store reviews? Are the artists having reviews moderated? It's been a week after writing a review on a few albums I purchased. I can see the reviews I've left when I view the settings in my iTunes account. The problem I'm having is that my vanity requires me knowing if people find my reviews to be helpful or useful - I actually put effort into some of my reviews. It would be nice to see feedback on the more critical reviews rather than seeing nothing but cult-followers of various artists leaving carpet-bomb 5-star reviews. It kinda diminishes the quality and legitimacy of iTune's recommendations as well as how they sort popular artists.

Well then it is somewhere on one of your Home pages or in a Folder:
Do a spotlight search to see if it accidently got moved into a Folder: Swipe down in the center of the screen to bring up the Spotlight search and type in iTunes. If it is in a folder, the folder name will show up to the right.
If it is not in a folder, but shows up on the Spotlight search, then you need to look at each Home screen to see if you can find where it got moved to.
Finally, you can go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout, which will reorganize all of your icons so that the original Apple core apps are on the first Home screen as they were originally. Of course, if you have a lot of app icons that you have set up on specific Home screens you would have to move them all back to where you wanted them. But that should put the iTunes icon back on the first Home screen.

Yes you are right. You have to set it to 100% to see the menu words. Makes all the print kind of small though..quirky program.

Go to the control panel and check dpi scaling under Appearance or Display.
It’s not uncommon to see a setting of 125% or higher to improve screen readability but PSE requires a dpi of 96 or 100%
Whilst the Editor Menu will appear at 120% to 149% the Organizer Menu (and the advanced button in downloader) won’t. Sometimes the mouse or tool cursors are distorted.
Try a setting of 115% or 116% otherwise 100%. A common display resolution, notably for notebooks/laptops, and netbooks is 1024 x 768 but PSE requires a screen height of 800 for full functionality. If your height resolution is out of the range 768 to 800 try experimenting with the slider/settings.

I have downloaded and installed Photoshop Elements 11 on my new Macbook Pro. Why can't I see my scanner (Epson Perfection 3200 Photo) from the File>Import menu?

There was no driver update available (it said my driver was up to date), so I just deleted the scanner and restarted the computer. when it came up, the scanner had already been added again. With great anticipation I tried to import from Photoshop...but no luck (scanner was not visible). I finally ended up calling Epson (had great difficulty in locating a number for support) and they finally told me there is no driver update for OS X 10.10 and I should as a work around use "Image Capture" application. I tried it, and it works quite well.
