Why can't I send email via comcast?

I can get email on my computer, iPad and iPhone through my comcast account but when I try to send email I get an error -  The user name or password for account name is invalid.

Check the outgoing server. The username pasword under this server might be incorrect.
What network connection do you use? Cellular, WiFi? and on what network?

Why can't I send emails from my iphone & ipad? Everything worked fine last night, but I updated my software yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been having the same problem with one of several email accounts on one iPad2 and one iPhone5.  It has been driving me crazy.  I have deleted and reinstalled the email accounts more times than I can count and was ready to throw the device out the window.  However I just found a post from another user who stated that they were able to solve this problem by confirming that the outgoing mail server password was corrected.  Apparently they found that after an upgrade the old password was retained by the server.  I had never checked this because it's a few extra steps to get into the outgoing mail server.  When I did I found that it was incorrect.  Once changed, I was able to send the email again.  Problem solved!  Also I agree that the other user was rude in commenting to you the way that he/she did.  Hope this helps you

Do you have data enabled? MMS enabled? While it doesn't count against your data plan, your phone should be able to send small photos, but does require a data connection.

  • Why can't i send email since the ios5 upgrade?

why can't I send emails since ios 5 upgrade?

There are several threads discussing this issue. I tried many suggested solutions without success until one finally worked and I'm sharing it in every thread.
First, here is my hardware/software situation, if your's is diff, then the fix I found might not work.
iPhone 4 upgraded to iOS 5.  IMAP email wouldn't SEND
    Fix:
Go into setting>mail>your account>Outgoing mail Server SMTP>Primary Server then turn Server ON and fill in both User Name + Password under Outgoing Mail Server.
It seems that in previous versions of iOS, you didn't need to enter your username and password in the outgoing mail server settings, but in iOS 5, IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE.
Thanks to worapoj for being the first (i saw) to post this simple fix.

  • Why can't i send photos via sms text?

Wondering why I can't send photos from my iphone to someone else's phone via sms text. every other phone i've had with a camera could do that. am i doing something wrong?

This doesn't sound very user friendly. I want a phone that's easy to use and doesn't require a ton of work arounds. Everybody else's phone can send and receive pictures just by knowing the other person's phone number.
They don't have to know how to send it via email.
They don't have to know what carrier the other person is using, or whether they switched carriers or not.
They don't have to go to a stupid website to receive a picture that someone sent them - a website that doesn't even work on iPhone, so they have to wait till they get home!
They don't have to tell their friends that because they have a cool new phone, they have to be treated specially so they can have fun too.
It makes iPhone users sound like a bunch of dorks with a phone which can't get pictures like everybody else can. I've been playing with mine for 4 days and it's a really great phone but I've already noticed that my crappy old Blackjack beats the pants off of it for sending pictures around without having to know who someone's cellular company is or what their email address is or whether their phone can send or receive email.

  • HT4979 why can I not send email when away from my home wifi? Am able to receive messages OK, and outgoing mailserver is correct?

Why am I unable to send email when away from my home wifi ? I am able to receive mail OK, and have double- checked the outgoing server which is correct. This problem is consistent with my Macbook Pro, iPhone, and iPad2.
Attempts to send messages results in them sitting in the Outbox and never- ending 'sending message' displayed.
I am able to send using my   me.com  server.
    Home service provider is Cogeco.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Why can't I send email if I can recieve it?

If I am at home, I can send and recieve email on my iphone. I have a Netgear wireless router at home if that matters.
If I am not at home, I can only recieve email. I will get an error message if I try to send.
Anyone know how I can fix that?
    Thank You.

because you are probably using your ISP's outgoing mail server. it works fine when you are home because you are on that ISP's internet but when you leave your house you are no longer using your ISP and can no longer use your ISP's outgoing mail server.
for example. if you have a @me.com email and say have comcast's internet service you can send mail from home using comcast's outgoing mail server because you are on their service. once you leave the house you are no longer on comcast and therefor can no longer send mail through their server.
instead of using the outgoing mail server of your ISP use the outgoing mail server provided by the provider of the email. for mobleme the outgoing mail server would be smtp.me.com (instead of your home ISPs mail server which may be something like smtp.comcast.net)
since you mentioned that you do use comcast then it's most likely the issue i described above and i believe the fix requires changing the out going port.
go here and see if this helps with setting up your email account, you may have to remove the account and reset it up:
    http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/mailhelper/
i found this info in another post regarding comcast email:
    outgoing: smtp.comcast.net
    username: first part of email
    password: same as incoming
    ssl:on
    authentication: password
    port: 465

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • Why can't I send Emails from iPad apps?

When I am using iBooks, or Evernote, or Hootsuite, or just about any application on my iPad that allows me to Email items from within the application, the following happens when I try to send an Email:
    1) I click the share button.
    2) Choose Emaill
    3) Write the Email.
    4) Click Send
    5) Hear swoosh sound and it appears the Email is sent.
However, the Email is never actually sent.  I've tested this mutiple times to various Email addresses and it just isn't sending the Email.  The only exception is when I send Emails from within the Gmail app, in which case they send fine.
After discovering this I took our my iPhone 5 and tried to do the same from there with the same applications.  I was able to send Emails from within the iPhone applications just fine so this problem is specific to my iPad.
I checked my mail settings and didn't see anything out of order.  As I said, I can successfully send Email from the iPad using the Gmail app or just sending it from within a Chrome window.
    Thoughts?

I used to be able to send e-mail from within apps on my iPad. Then all of a sudden, I was unable to do it. I changed none of my settings, and my regular e-mail works just fine.  One day I could e-mail from within apps, and then next I could not.
When I hit the share button within an app, I then select the e-mail button. An e-mail message opens for composition. It has the subject line filled in, but that's all. It will not allow me to enter the address and it contains no message or link. It's just dead. Sometimes I wait for a while to see if anything changes, but it doesn't.
Did apple change something without telling us?
