Why can I not send messages it just started today and I cannot see that anything is different from my wife's iPad mini and its iPhone or iPad users I am trying to text

WEll, I send messages to everyone on my iphone, just cant get certain ones on the ipad. Only 4 or 5 people so far can get my messages and respond on ipad. All the people have iphones and I use facetime to talk to them, but no imessages.....frustrating. I have read all the articles and tried my best. What phone do you have? And how, exactly, are you trying to send pictures to Facebook? It sounds like you need to log into Facebook on the phone or re-enter your username and password for Facebook. Somehow the connection between your photos and Facebook has been lost, and you need to get them connected again (verify your login information)

I recently upgraded from a Droid X to the LG Spectrum 2. Why can I not send messages?

I recently upgraded to a LG Spectrum 2 and have been having trouble sending messages. It either takes a REALLY long time to send a message or it doesn't send at all. It seems I had better service with my old Droid X. Does anyone know why the slow message time with 4G?

Why Can I Not Send Messages or Video Calls?

My sister and I both have 4th gen. 8gig. itouches. Neither of us can video Call our friends through FaceTime of send them imessages(our friends have 4th gen Itouches). We are both logged on but we can't send/recieve anything! I've all ready tried toggle the app on/off and setting the time to automatic. So please give me some different advice ThanksApplefreak1257

I'm also a RoadRunner customer and although RR has a different SMTP server for each designated geographic area, RR's SMTP server does not require separate authentication from their incoming mail server and is not supported.
Unless you have None selected for the SMTP server authentication, it will not work.
Port 110 is for the incoming mail server and since RR is your ISP, Port 25 works for their SMTP server.
RR does not block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network on Port 25 as long as the SMTP server is authenticated such as the .Mac SMTP server but I use 587 for the SMTP server port with .Mac's SMTP server and lately I've been using RR's SMTP server to send messages with my .Mac account so i know both work when connected to the internet via RR.
Apple prevents using .Mac's authenticated SMTP server to send messages with any other account besides your .Mac account.

The way you worded your questions showed that you already knew you couldn't do it. And you didn't ask "how do you do it?", otherwise I would have answered "you can't".
You asked "when?" and I answered that question. Apple has not said if they ever plan to add messaging to Game Center, let alone when that may be if they do decide to add it, so the question of "when?" cannot be answered any more accurately than I did.
If you don't want "a generic none chalant", don't ask a generic nonchalant question. Ask what you actually want to know.

I just got an Ipad2 and can not figure out why I can't send a message to someone who does not have an apple product. I can from my iPhone. When I enter there name it is shown in red with an ! Behind it and the word send does not light up.

You can text this person from your iPhone because you are using SMS over the voice cell network. There is no access to the voice cell network on the iPad, even if you have the WiFi+3G model.
There are some apps, such as TextFree, that will let you do this.

When I go to Messages / My Status my options are greyed out.

Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings > Enable Airplane Mode, wait five seconds, then turn off airplane mode.
Check your phone settings:
Check your Do Not Disturb settings: Tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
Check for any blocked phone numbers: Tap Settings > Phone > Blocked.

Make sure that MMS is turned on in Settings. Sometimes that can get turned off during an update, if you recently did that. Next try would be a reset. If that doesn't help, then contact the carrier, as SMS and MMS are carrier specific functions.
