Why can't I send MMS or Makes calls from home, signal is fine.

My wife is having an issue with her Verizon iPhone 4s, it seems that when ever she is in our neighborhood she can not send mms or make phone calls, but as soon as she leaves the neighborhood her phone works fine. Here's the kicker, it seems like she can send/call to iDevice's just fine. We have tried with a network signal update by calling I think *221, that didn't work either. Anyone have any ideas? This started about 2 weeks ago

Turn off and on (restart) your iOS device (press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds, then slide the slider.)

It has been reported that changing your DNS settings fixes this issue. To change DNS servers, follow these instructions for iOS devices (iPhone, iPod touch, iPad):
Tap Settings
Tap Wi-Fi on the left-hand side
Tap the blue arrow next to your current Wi-Fi network
Tap the “DNS” field and enter the DNS servers; 8.8.8.8
Now see if it is working.

WEll, I send messages to everyone on my iphone, just cant get certain ones on the ipad. Only 4 or 5 people so far can get my messages and respond on ipad. All the people have iphones and I use facetime to talk to them, but no imessages.....frustrating. I have read all the articles and tried my best. I might go straight to the apple store locally, and see if they can help me.

An ipad is not a cellular phone even if it has a cellular module, that module is for data only so sms/mms messaging is not available to an ipad with using a third party app that transfers the messages from voip to cellular phone networks.
So messages on an ipad is an Apple only protocol and only works to other Apple users that have also registered their devices with messages, attempting to send to a user with a different device (android for example) will simply fail.

Why can't I send my workouts to nikeplus from Itunes?

I have a 2nd Gen iPod touch and I am unable to send my workouts to Nikeplus from the iPod as it says 'Unknown Error' when I try and type in my username on the website. Also when I try and upload my workouts from Itunes it says 'Itunes could not connect to Nike+'

I did already update it, alas with no results at first, but after your answer I decided to use the 'restore' instead the 'update' button. After this I deauthorized and authorized the computer and it helped. Everything is working properly! Thanks.

Cant send texts or make calls from europe (EE Extra plan)

Hi there. i recently signed up for an EE extra contract that allows me to make phonecalls nad recieve texts while traveling in the EU. since arriving my hpone has been usleess- unable to send texts or make/recieve calls (including to EE themselves) i'm at a loss. I've read that i may need to turn roming on before leaving the country (thanks for the heads up EE :/) i've tried going to 'manage my device' as i read on these forums, but theres no option to turn on roaming. any help is greatly apreciated, i'm feeling pretty frustrated at the moment

You need to call EE on +44 (0) 7953 966 250 and activate roaming. You may need to pay a refundable deposit if your have only just taken out the contract.

Why can't I send mms internationally?

I can send picture messages to other Australian numbers from my iPhone 4 but not to international phone numbers. Why? I'm on vodafone, don't know if that makes a difference

You'll have to talk to vodaphone and see if your account is provisioned for International messaging. It may not be something they do unless you ask for it. Just like International roaming is not normal for most people in the US to have placed on their phones without asking for it.

Why can't I send iMessages to an iPhone from my laptop?

I am using a new MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013) with Yosemite 10.10.1 and trying to send text messages to people using the messages app. Both people I tried to send messages to have iPhones. I get the same results each time. You can see by the attached image that I get a red exclamation mark. When I click on that I get the "your message could not be sent dialog" Does anyone have any advice for me?

It is likely to be something in the Mac User Account.
Messages creates several .plist that start com.apple.ichat
Some refer to the accounts for AIM, Jabber and Yahoo and the Subnet one is for Bonjour.
There is a Shared List one (for Recent Chats that Yosemite's Messages does not display) and the Status Messages one I have posted to Eric about.
This one com.apple.imservice.ids.iMessage.plist deals with calling the info from the Keychain about the item there.
This one com.apple.imessage.bag.plist holds the server info the the iMessages account is logged into.
com.apple.ids.service.com.apple.madrid.plist is the one that holds the Apple ID used in the iMessages Account and any other ID linked to that iMessages accounts.
I would delete the last of these and restart the Messages app.
You may have to re-enter the Apple ID.
(And accept the pop ups about the iPhone number)
If that does not work try also deleting the iMessage.bag one as this will force a Server connection when the app is restarted.
If that does not work open the Keychain Access App in Applications/Utilities
With Login in the top left box
Passwords in the lower left selected find the IDS: AppleID iniMesages-Auth token item and delete it (the italics bit will be your Apple ID)
Restart the App again.
Check the Contacts app has your detail in the My Card (Contacts > Preferences > Card > My Card)
After that if it has not worked it is a long process of moving half the listed Apple.com .plists to the Desktop (I would create a folder to hold them)
And then restarting the computer.
You then have to move half the moved ones back to Preferences replacing newer items that have been made if nothing has been solved.
i.e move A to M to the desktop folder. as the apps read the plists you will need to restart. Then move A to F back so there is a gap between F and N (so you can see where you are up to)
Repeat a 1/2 the reminder until you find the faulty .plist. (complete with restarts each time and replacing new .plist when you move old ones back)
Most likely this will be a group move so you will have to work the last move you made.
This is very time consuming.
If you decide that replacing them all might be the way to go then keep the following:-
Anything with Address Book In it (Some info in in the .plists that you need)
Same for Mail
Any item for purchased apps from Apple Like Pages, Numbers, iWeb and so on as this may contain License info
Do not Delete the Desktop item until you are sure you don't need them and everything is working.

My sister and I both have 4th gen. 8gig. itouches. Neither of us can video Call our friends through FaceTime of send them imessages(our friends have 4th gen Itouches). I'm also a RoadRunner customer and although RR has a different SMTP server for each designated geographic area, RR's SMTP server does not require separate authentication from their incoming mail server and is not supported.
Unless you have None selected for the SMTP server authentication, it will not work.
Port 110 is for the incoming mail server and since RR is your ISP, Port 25 works for their SMTP server.
RR does not block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network on Port 25 as long as the SMTP server is authenticated such as the .Mac SMTP server but I use 587 for the SMTP server port with .Mac's SMTP server and lately I've been using RR's SMTP server to send messages with my .Mac account so i know both work when connected to the internet via RR.
Apple prevents using .Mac's authenticated SMTP server to send messages with any other account besides your .Mac account.

I compose an iMessage with the destination as my email address and I attach 2 photos I want on my PC. I send them several times from my iPhone 5C but they never arrive. I look at my ipad later and realize that it's iMessage app is getting ( and swallowing) these emails. I then turn the ipad off. Still can't get the photos through because iphone is now getting them on it's iMessage. I turn off the iMessage feature and try to send photos from text msging. Phone tells me it can't send photos unless iMessage it turned on. What happened to regular MMS text messaging? I go and try to send photos as an email attachment and see that there is no option to attach from the stupid email program. I look up online to learn about the brave new world of apple attachments and send them.

Did not work. I've selected iMessage to ON and left it. After a few hours I recieved a message "activation unsuccessful. Turn on iMessage to try again". This has been going on for the past 3 days.

Both of those are carrier features, contact your cell phone provider and ask them why.
