Why can't I set light theme in PSE 10 ?

In PSE is only dark theme - light theme is missing... Why ?  Dark theme is very unpleasant for eyes -> tears...

If you look at two different classes of photo editors, you find the 'pro' ones and the 'general public' ones. Photo editing is about having total control about the output : color  and tones fidelity while being able to work for a long time in front of digital displays. That means pros need a controlled lighting of the editing room, a hardware calibrated screen or several screens. That also means that for a good vision of your edited image, the eye should not be disturbed by harsh surrounding colors, menus etc. In such environments, a lot of ergonomy takes place for the choice of the user interface to enable long periods of editing in front of the display.
When you offer a photo editor for the general public, you should have a 'standard' interface which looks like any other type of software, and you don't need to bother with color accuracy when the editing is made on non calibrated low quality screens in udefined room lighting conditions. A clear interface is then the solution.
It is obvious that there is both a technical and marketing problem with the choice of the Elements interface. It's the evolution of an old software and it does use a lot of modules from its big brother CS. A lot of users do complain like you, others like me find the dark interface is the good choice. What everyone should agree upon is that there is too much problems with the text sizes and contrast for the menus. It's probably not simple to satisfy at the same time small notebook and big displays users, but that is the challenge.
