Why can't I share my iPod touch app with my new IPadmini

Just got a new IPad mini but cannot share a purchased game from IPad touch to IPad mini?

What happens when you try to redownload them directly to the iPod by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • How can I sync my old ipod touch apps to my new ipod touch

I have an ipod touch 3G and just got an ipod touch 4g, I want to get the apps with their history (such as my calendar and golf scores) on to my new one.
But apparently I made a mistake when I registered my new touch.  Is there any way I can sync my old apps on to my new ipod touch?

Set the new one to be the same name as the old one and it should restore everything on to your knew one.

  • Why can't I download Free iPod Touch Apps from Apps Store w/Shopping Cart?

I have an 8GB iPod Touch (original model) with the current 2.1 software. I also have iTunes v. 8.0. The behavior I am seeing started about 3 weeks ago and continues with these updates - it was not like this when I first downloaded the 2.0 software and began installing Apps.
I prefer to manage my iPod Touch applications in iTunes. I have my iTunes account set up for a Shopping Cart, not 1-Click Buy. This is because for Music, I prefer to add songs I will want to my shopping cart, then buy them when I want to.
When iTunes 7.7 first came out with v2.0 software, even though I have a Shopping Cart for my iTunes, I could "buy" a Free App just by clicking on it, and it would be automatically downloaded and added to my Applications folder on iTunes. Then, when I synced with my iPod Touch, it would install the app on my iPod Touch. This was true for either new Apps or upgrades to existing Apps.
For the last few weeks, every time I try to update even an existing App for my iPod Touch, if I do it through the iTunes store, I get the following message:
"Applications cannot be purchased with Shopping Cart.
Your preferences are currently set to buy using Shopping Cart. Application purchases cannot be placed in Shopping Cart: they must be purchase by 1-Click. Select Buy if you'd like to purchase [NAME OF APPLICATION} by using 1-Click and your credit card will be charged immediately."
The [NAME OF APPLICATION] is filled in with whatever application I am dealing with at that time.
Why is it that even with a Free application, and an update for it at that, it will not let me obtain it with iTunes if I have a Shopping Cart? So far, I have solved the problem by doing all of my Applications management on my iPod Touch. I use the iTunes Store on my iPod Touch to search for and download the application. Then, when I sync, it places it in my Applications folder on iTunes on my PC.
This is very strange behavior for iTunes. Why would it want to charge my credit card for a Free Application?
    Many thanks.
    Joe

    Hi Steve,
Thanks for your reply. I do have a valid Credit Card on the account. In addition, I also have about a $5 credit from an iTunes gift card in my iTunes account.
In any event, I'm actually NOT purchasing anything. All I'm trying to do is download a FREE App for my iPod Touch. It simply won't let me do it.
    This is extremely frustrating.
    Best regards.
    Joe

  • Can 2 teachers share an ipod touch and put apps on it with two itune accounts

Can 2 teachers share an ipod touch and put apps on it with two itune accounts?

    Sure.  No problem.
Be aware that ALL purchases are permanently associated with whatever Apple ID was used to originally obtain them.  Apps can not be updated without knowledge of that ID and, more importantly, its password.  Apple IDs can not be merged and purchases can not be transferred from one ID to another.
Minor nuisance if you choose to update apps from inside the computer's iTunes.  If you're logged into the "wrong" account, it's necessary to log out/in to do the update.  It's easier if you update from the iPod itself.  No need to log out/in but you do need to know the password for the ID.

  • Why can't I update my ipod touch to the iOS 4.3?

Why can't I update my ipod touch to the iOS 4.3?
I try to update my ipod touch 4th gen. to the new iOS 4.3 software and the thing loads and after the 7-8 minutes or so, when it says "processing file" a pop up says that the network connection has timed out, and to check my network settings. I've tried several different times and get the same result. My wi-fi is working with all three bars and my computer is also connected to the internet. I've tried restoring it but it says I have to get the new software and then I get the same result( this time ipod not restored).... What's going on with my ipod? Anyone help?

    Hi,
Have you tried to see if you have the newest version of iTunes? Also, it may help if you try the following steps.
Download iOS from a third-party website (i reccomend http://whited00r.com/) (as this is a full operating system, it is a big download and may take time on a slow internet connection)
    Unzip the file.
After unzipping, you should now have a .ipsw file.
    Open iTunes
Connect your device and make sure you take a back-up of it first (if you don't all your data will be erased)
Now, while pressing the Restore button, hold down the Alt key (for Mac) or the Shift key (for Windows).
You should now have a window open asking you to choose a file.
Choose the file you just downloaded from whited00r.com
    Press OK
It should start replacing your current OS to the new one.
When this finishes, your device will restart
Click restore from (whatever your old device was called)
It will put back all your apps and information

Are you logged in with the same account that was used to activate the phone ? If you are, and the apps aren't showing as free, then try logging out of your account by tapping on it at the botto of the Featured tab in the App Store app and then log back in and see if they then show as free.

The real point is Kappy gave you a link to a list of video demonstrations of changing the digitizer to show you that what you intend to do can in fact be done.  However, not once but TWICE you questiofed what was freely given to you, and you obviously didn't take the time or make any effort to find out if white framed digitizers are available.
The fact of the matter is, white framed digitizers are available, and rather inexpensively I might add.
My post with the outrageous prices was intended to trigger some of your obviously dormant gray matter into some form of activity that might just resemble intelligent human thought and maybe generate a giggle or two.  Guess I was wrong....  But at least now I know why you have a picture of a box of rocks for your avatar....

  • Why can't I share my iCal diary anymore with my work colleagues? I used to be able to send a link so the calendar could be viewed in any browser be it PC or Mac platform??

Why can't I share my iCal diary anymore with my work colleagues? I used to be able to send a link so the calendar could be viewed in any browser be it PC or Mac platform??

Ordinary webspace won't do - what you get is a text file: this is the problem - MobileMe took the file published by iCal and formatted it as a calendar. Presumably if you were running your own server as indicated in the help page it would do the same; but unless 1&1 can speficially provide you with a CalDAV server it's not going to work.
Do your colleagues have Macs? For those who do, they can subscribed to a shared calendar in iCal and it couldn't be simpler. Presumably Windows owners could do the same thing in a suitable calendar program; and this is a lot simpler solution.
Another route: according to this site:
    http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/publish-ical-calendars-mobileme-os-server-mac/
box.net can do this for you. I seem to remember that this arose a while back, but I have a feeling that the poster then couldn't get it to work. I can't advise on that, but you might want to investigate it as an option.

  • Since i have upgradet my ipod touch 3g with the new 5.0.1 version,  i can`t upload music or pictures or apps or anything else. the synchronize button is gray and allows nothing. the i tunes version is the 10.5.3 ... please help me!

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

For what purpose are you trying to pair them?
Only supported peer to peer apps such as photo transfer or multiplayer games can connect to other iOS devices via Bluetooth. You initiate the connection inside the app running on both devices.

  • Can I use my old iPod 3G dock with my new iPod Touch

I just got an iPod Touch, and I am wondering if there are any reason why I shouldn't use it with the old dock that came with my iPod 3G in 2004. It seems to sync and charge without any problem, but I'm wondering if it could cause physical damage because it's not designed to support that shape, or if there's any other potential issues. The iPod Touch came with an adapter, but it doesn't fit my ancient dock.

I do not understand why a 2G Touch would not charge from an AC connector. I am charging mine with the AC connector which came with my iPod Photo. That may have been the last iPod to include the charger with the device. But yes, it charges the Touch just fine. However, my Bose dock does not work with the Touch at all. I understand that it would not be able to charge it, but I can't even play through it. Two other docks I have are the same EXCEPT that both of them have an auxilliary input and I can play the Touch through a cord going into that input, lying down of course, not in its dock.

  • HT1768 why can't I charge my ipod gen 2 on my new Windows 8.1 computer?

why can't I charge my ipod shuffle gen 2 on my new Windows 8.1 computer?

    Hello, jmjapple.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here is some information you may find helpful when experiencing issues charging an iPod shuffle.  Make sure to test with another charging cable and avoid using adapters.
    For iPod shuffle (2nd generation)
To charge the battery using your computer:
Connect the iPod shuffle dock's USB connector into a high-power USB port on your computer.
Note: To charge a iPod shuffle battery, connect the device to a high-power USB port. Please be aware that USB keyboards and non-powered USB hubs generally do not have high-power USB ports. If you connect to a low or non-powered port, iPod shuffle will not charge.
The computer must be turned on and set to not go to sleep.
Insert the iPod shuffle into the dock.
Verify the iPod shuffle is seated securely in the dock.
Once the iPod shuffle is plugged in, it will take about 2 hours to charge the battery to 80% capacity and about 4 hours to charge it to 100%. Find out how to check the battery charge here. For information on status lights while connected, click here.Note: The computer must be turned on and set to not go to sleep or hibernate. To charge the battery using an iPod USB Power Adapter:
Connect the AC plug adapter to the power adapter (they might already be connected).
Plug the USB connector of the iPod shuffle USB Cable or Dock into the power adapter.
Plug the power adapter into a working electrical outlet.
Connect the iPod shuffle to the dock.
Verify the iPod shuffle is connected securely.
