Why can't I sign into the iTunes store?

I've been trying to sign into the iTunes store for months now. Since v10 released, I have been unable to sign into the store, use Genius or any other feature that requires an active store use.
I can sign in here (obviously) but when I try to sign in IN iTunes, it trys for about 30 seconds, pulls up the review dialogue and then goes back to asking me to sign in before I can review my information.
Sometimes it pulls up a Welcome page that looks like it's all text without any of the formatting or bells and whistles.
The fact that this has been going on so long, that I've found LOTS of other users with the same problems and that there is no fix for it annoys me to no end.
Has anyone, anywhere found a fix or heard anything about this problem being patched? Should I try reverting back to 9.x version of iTunes?

    Search the Web for the phrase "My Apple ID." The top hit should be an Apple web page with that title. I'm not posting a direct link because such links are never to be trusted. Sign in and verify the ID.

I can even sign into the Google Youtube app.  What i cannot sign into is the Apple Youtube app- the one linked to by Safari when you click on a youtube video.     I've got this as well and it seems to have affected only the Music and Home pages - do a search in the search bar and you will get to the films etc. Looks like somone goofed! If anyone from Apple checks this out, mine is the UK store. Home page and Music pages only affected.

    Probably because you have not signed in in the Settings app. The iTunes and App Store keeps track of apps that need updating and auto updates apps for you. You need to be sign in for this to work.
    Settings > iTunes and App Store > sign in.

    - logging out and back into your account on it
    - disconnecting and reconnecting to your network

    Saw this on another post.
    Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it!   It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    This works for some users. Not sure why.
    Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

    I did notice that you said everything you have obtained you've legally bought.  Because if there was anything in there that you didn't buy with your AppleID but WAS purchased with another AppleID this will happen.
    If this is not the case their is a possible issue with your account.  Only reason I say this is because it's happening on both of your computers.  So both of them have the exact same library?  Do you have another computer you can sign into the itunes store that has none of your content on it and if so does it continue to happen?
    Have you tried un-installing and re-installing itunes?  Are you up-to-date on both versions of iTunes?
    If there is an issue with your AppleID you might need to contact Apple and get an RTA sent to SSE(Site Support Engineering) to troubleshoot your account.

    You can't see your purchased history for the purposes of seeing what a purchase cost, when it took place, etc. on the iPad. You can only do that on a computer in your iTunes account.
