Why can't I slide my clip?

I cut part of it out and now I can't slide it into another clip. (So they are back to back)

Control (right) - click on the photo in the frame and select Fit to Frame Size in the contextual menu.

In addition to the suggestions, [Mails Scripts|http://homepage.mac.com/aamann/Mail_Scripts.html] has an applescript that will collect all the addresses in an email and give you the option to select a subset and save to a group or make a new group.

Why can I no longer drag clips?

I can no longer drag clips from the viewer to the canvas or timeline. When I the clip seems to disappear behind the canvas or timeline. "Show Overlay" is checked. The Edit Overlay box, which used to appear in the canvas, no longer appears. I use Final Cut Pro 7. I've edited a feature with no problem, so I'm assuming something has gotten switched off? Thanks.

Have you tried trashing your preferences? That is the usual first step when FCP begins to act in unexpected ways.

Why can't I drag a clip into the timeline?

I just loaded PP CD5 onto my Win 7 laptop. I can import movie clips into my project, but I can't drag any of those clips into the timeline. When I try to drag them, I get a hand with a "do not enter" symbol. No error messages of any kind.
I vaguely remember having this same issue when I loaded PP CS5 on my Win 7 desktop several months ago, and I thought I found something on the forums that told me how to fix it, but I can't find it now. Perhaps a change in the preferences?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Did you actually create a sequence? If not, go to File > New > Sequence, or drag one of your clips to the New Item icon at the bottom of the Project Panel. You can also click that to get the New Sequence option.

The status error -56 is a permissions error. Have you used your iPhoto library from a different user account? Where is your iPhoto Library located? On an external drive or in the default location in your Pictures folder?
Try to repair the permissions for your iPhoto Library using the First Aid Tools.
Select your iPhoto Library in the Finder and hold down the key combination option-command ⌥⌘ .
Keep the keys held down firmly, while double clicking your iPhoto Library, until you are seeing the First Aid panel. Select first "repair permissions".

Why can't see "slider" to scroll images in Split View?

Ok, this is going to be an embarrassingly simple question...
When in the 'Split View' in earlier versions of Aperture (I am now on 3.5.1), I would like to be able to grab the "slider" (I don't know what it's actual name is..) that I would think appears below the images at the bottom of the screen, and then drag it left/right to move through pictures quickly. (just like the slider that appears in a browser window on the right edge that I can use to scroll up, down on a web page).
Right now to scroll through pictures I have to either
1. Roll mouse button over and over again when the cursor is in the bottom view area (with the little pictures), or
2. Click on an image, and then arrow right/left to move
For some reason when i am moving the mouse button over and over the slider will sometimes appear. When I try to "grab" it and use the slider to move and scroll left/right through images, it goes away. Most apps when I scroll a direction, the slider will appear and I can grab it and scroll with it.
One time I was able to grab it and use it to move through pictures. Once I went to another view and back it was gone.
And at other times I can't see the slider at all.
What on earth am I doing wrong??

The missing sliders are of the new GUI "Features" that has been introduced with MacOS X Lion and stayed on.
And before you ask, there is no way to get the arrow heads back for the sliders. They are gone for good.

Why can't I edit my clips on iMovie?

I'm doing a book project for school and I imported my clips into move 10.0.6, and I can't do anything to edit besides import and delete entire clips. I am new to move 10.0.6. If someone could please help by December 6th, 2014, that would be great! The book project is due the following Wednesday. Thanks!

A great resource for learning some of the wonderful features of iMovie, is the online iMovie Help User Guide. Since you've already succesfully imported movies to your application, the next step is to create a project that you can edit and manipulate. That's eplained in greater detail here:
iMovie Help: Create a new movie
Create a movie project
Click the Create button in the toolbar, and then click Movie.
In the Create window, select a theme for your movie, or select No Theme.
To preview a theme, click the Play button in a theme’s thumbnail. For more information, see iMovie themes overview.
At the bottom of the Create window, click the Create button.
In the window that appears, type a name for the movie in the Name field.
In the Event pop-up menu, choose the event where you want the movie to reside.
Click OK.
A new movie project is created with an empty timeline.
As you work your way down the Help Menu, you will see it lays out some practical information in the order you would be creating your new project.

Why can't I import this clip?

A posting in the other forum got 19 views but no replies. Reposting here. I have iMovie HD 6.0.2
I have a DVD disk with a 43-minute mpg clip followed by two shorter clips. All play on my TV using a DVD player. Near the end of the 43 minute clip is a scene I want to incorporate in an iMovie. The two short mpg clips import from the DVD drive without problems. But the 43-minute clip stops importing after 19 minutes and 21 seconds. (It shows the clip to be the full 43 minutes in the clip viewer under the iMovie monitor, but when sliding the playhead, the picture freezes at 19 minutes and 21 seconds.) I tried several times. It always stops at the same place. I tried a Firewire external DVD drive. Again, it stops at 19 minutes 21 seconds, about halfway through. It seems unlikely the disk itself is corrupt, because the two short clips that do import come after it. Is this a memory cache problem? Anyone got any ideas?

A wild guess: Is the iMovie project disk formatted
for PC (FAT32)?
FAT32 has a 4GB file size limit, which is a bit over
19 minutes of DV.

My guess is that you are almost certainly correct. The iMovie project disk is more than likely, as you say, formatted> for PC (FAT32. (It came from a cousin in Europe.) The "bit over 19 minutes" cannot possibly be a coincidence. So what do I do now? Just go to the site you suggest? Where all will be explained? I'm grateful. Of 38 views, yours was the only one that had a helpful suggestion.

Why can't I find the clips I imported on my project?

I just imported a project from a VHS in iMovie and saved it to a folder with the name on it.
There are no cache or media in the folder and I can't ever seem to locate
the elements. Where does iMovie put them?

All materials in iMovie has to be handled from within iMovie application. One should not move or alter anything in regard to iMovie on DeskTop/Finder as this can result in a major mess.

Why can't I move my clip from Source to Timeline?

I have 1:30 clip in my Source pane with one Mark In and one Mark Out defined. When I click on it to drag it, I get the hand icon with a circle and slash indicating I cannot grab it. I am unable to drag the clip from the Source pane to the Timeline pane.

Most of the time when people cannot drag the clip or part of the clip into the timeline (despite having a sequence) is because they forgot to source patch the track.
If I am not mistaken this feature was introduces in CS6.

Why can't I see my clips in color

I am using send to color from FCP - SD footage
When it opens in color some of the clips just aren't there or it is the incorrect scene. Some of them work great. I took the clips that weren't in color, put them in their own sequence and sent to color and got a totally different scene. I did slow the footage down and it was from a mulit-clup, but I told the sequence to flatten all of the multiclips. Any info?

Okay, that's not in the manual but it should be in the Release Notes.
Multi-clips aren't handled (well) by the hidden XML export. FT/Color doesn't know which clip to address, even if it has been "flattened". Peruse your "Shots" bin. You'll probably wind up rendering out the selected angles as independent clips to get COLOR to recognize them.
Speed changes: not handled well, either. It apparently shows the correct frames now, for linear/constant factors, but it will attempt to render the ENTIRE ORIGINAL SOURCE CLIP no matter how long it is -- eg. the entire one hour of material if you did a "Capture Now" on a tape, even if you only selected a few frames of it.
Also consider the non-support of Drop frame.

No, you don't have to pay, and it is email support, you fill out a form,
With my expericence, they send you an email asking questions, you answer it. Next day they send you an email with instructions that do not work and are out of date. (please tell me where I can set none for my paymet options). Then they send you more instructions that don't work. I have just tried the third set of instructions and they did not work.
