Why can't I stay connected to my Droid 3G hot spot?

Its a HTC Droid Incredible with verizon service. The phone and internet connection work fine on the phone but using 3G hotspot to get online with my MACBOOK PRO is very inconsistent. It connects for a 10-30 minutes but then keeps "looking for networks". I've tried all the tricks of powering off then on which sometimes helps, using it with no security, I exhausted the trouble shooting from Verizon and HTC. This is my only internet access at home and is very frustrating. It worked consistently albiet slowly when I used a PC.

Reboot the router. Sometimes the DHCP daemon in a router will die and stop issuing IP addresses. This affects iPhones more than computers because computers stay connected for long periods of time, but the iPhone disconnects and reconnects frequently, and must request an IP address each time it connects.
If this doesn't fix it make sure the router has the latest firmware rev.

since i upgraded to Lion, my computer cannot stay connected to my wifi network, I'm the only user on the network, my iphone and ipad stay connected, when I had snow leopard it stayed connected, but lion boots me off my network every 2 minutes and it takes 10 min to reconnect when coming out of sleep or screen saver.

I had a similiar issue where under 10.7.3 it would be consently searching for WIFI even when it was connect and would drop the connection numerous times throughou the day . Since updating to 10.7.4, the problem has gone away. I would recommend updating if you haven't already

This is ridiculous. It seems anytime I want to use it, I have to either restart the ATV, or unplug/plug in the router, or close/reopen iTunes, or any combination. Nothing changes in my setup. The computer is on constantly. iTunes is open constantly. No settings on my computer, iTunes, router, etc. have been changed, yet ATV half the time says to turn on homesharing, or it can't access Netflix, or whatever.

There was a recall of some sort; call AppleCare support to see if your serial number matches the string of devices that were having the issue

Did you update to iOS 7? If yes you need to update iTunes on your computer to iTunes 11.1
If you are using iTunes 11.0 and iOS 6.x then show the left sidebar in iTunes.
When in iTunes on your computer use the View menu to View Sidebar. The device should show up there when connected.

iMessage is Apple devices only.

If your Cell carrier supports it, you should have an option in your phone for "Portable Wifi Hotspot" under Wifi and networks.

If you follow this video you'll see how to delete your WiFi AP from the OS, this will allow you to select it again which I feel will correct your problem.

I was researching what may be causing you to not be able to access the iTunes store, and found a couple of articles that may help you out. The first is an article named Can't connect to the iTunes Store found here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1368. There are steps to try depending on the Operating System you are running.
Also there is a more Advanced troubleshooting article called iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3297 that may also help.
And if you havent already, a great troubleshooting set of steps would be to restart the computer, router and/or modem then retest.

I love my tablet, but with the problems I have been having, I am thinking that it is time to buy a lap top! It started with my having to reboot my tablet to connect to our home Wi-Fi. I was thinking that maybe ti was just slow Time Warner internet. I went to visit my daughter in NYC and had no issues with connecting to their Wi-Fi at all. I took Amtrak home from NYC and couldn't connect to the Wi-Fi on board the train. I came home and now I can not connect to our Wi-Fi at all. I tried rebooting my tablet and still no connection. Anyone else have problems with their Wi-Fi? What should I do? We have only had the tablet for almost 6 months!

We have two phones and the tablet connected to our home wifi, we have Time Warner. I don't think that is much. It is working better now. I thought that the train being overloaded might be the reason why I couldn't connect. I had asked the conductor if there was an issue with it and he checked and said no. He was connected, as were others around me. Most were using their smart phones. Since I had never had a problem connecting before, I didn't think I'd have an issue on this trip. BUT, there were a lot more people on board. My scheduled train was cancelled, so there were more passengers, and cars, than the usual on board! It was annoying because I had to reschedule, AND be without a wifi connection! I can only hope that the next time I take the train, that I can connect to their wifi.....and that my scheduled train won't be cancelled!!!!

IPad 2 can't reliably stay connected to the left USB port on my MBP

I was upgrading my iPad 2 to iOS 8 before (succeeded) and first wanted to do a complete encrypted backup to my MacBook Pro. But when I connected it to my left USB port it wouldn't stay reliably connected. It kept on disconnecting and I couldn't backup or upgrade.
However, if I connected it to the USB 3 hub connected to my right-side USB port it worked fine and I was able to backup and upgrade and backup again.
Even after upgrading to iOS 8 I still can't connect it reliably to the left-side USB port.
However, I don't think it is the port, because I was able to do the same backup, upgrade and another backup of my iPhone 5 via the same USB port.
So I'm wondering what it might be given these data points. The iPad 2? The cable? The USB port? Maybe the USB cable is wonky but works better with the hub than the port?
I have no problem connecting other things to the left USB port, such as my printer and USB headset. And the iPad 2 and cable work just fine for charging via the adapter.
Any ideas?

There have been a number of reported problems with the USB 3 ports on the 2012 models. Several people running Mountain Lion say that it 'fixes' the problems. Until then, see this Apple tech note - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5172#12.
Good luck - Mountain Lion is just around the corner and will hopefully fix some of the glitches.

Why can I no longer connect to WD White Light 2TB Harddrive?

Up until about 4 days ago, I was able to connect to my external WD Harddrive perfectly fine. It is wireless but I had it connected physically via Ethernet cable to my iMac and used the Connect to Server function every time I turned on my computer perfectly fine.
For some reason it no longer automatically mounts the drive when I do this. I have to enter the user name and password, which I do (and I know they're 100% correct) it seems to accept the username and password however Finder still shows "Connecting" with the option for "Connect As" still active depite the fact I've logged in as the harddrive's admin.
I have tried connecting it to our Wi-fi and connecting to the drive through my new Macbook Pro and it has exactly the same results. Whenever I purposly enter incorrect details the login box shakes showing that username or password is incorrect so I know it does log in. The automatic choice to mount the folders "Public", "Downloads" etc. does not appear.
Any ideas on how I can connect to it, I have a LOT of files on there and the thought of losing them all is just horrifying.
Sorry if this is in the wrong thread but as the issue first arose on my Intel iMac it was the best I can choose.

I am having trouble connecting to my WiFi at home. My laptop can connect and my phone shows full strength and says that it's connected, but the little arrows that appear seem to show that my phone isn't receiving the signal. I am able to automatically connect to any other WiFi locations I go to.
I have an Xfinity modem/router. I am unsure if this is a problem on their end or my end. This goes beyond just unplugging and resetting everything. I recently disconnected the modem/router because Xfinity said there was a new Blast speed update. Around this time is when my issues began.

One possibility is that you may have entered your encryption key/authentication code incorrectly, and its continuing to try to access, but being blocked because the code is wrong. Tell it to forget your network, and try connecting/logging into it from scratch again.

This is my first post and I know from searching online for the last week or so for a solution that this has been a problem for others before. I have tried all of the proposed solutions I have found including, resetting the network settings, resetting all settings, turning the wifi on and off, manually enterring information used within another phone on the manual element of the wifi setup.
I still cannot connect my phone to my home WIFI despite it being conencted for over a year with no problems, and also having other iphones, laptops and Ipads that can connect.
The phone that wont connect can still pick up other WIFI networks and barely finds my home WIFI.
I would really appreciate some help with this as we rely on the WIFI due to not picking up great 3G in my area.

I have had the same issue many times with Apple products (Mac, Macbook Pro, IPad) when I have been travelling (hotel, restaurant, coffee shop etc. wifi) or using an "off-site" wifi system. The solutions seems to be to unplug your router from the wall and wait about 10-seconds than plug the unit back in. Works everytime for me.
