Why can't I sync my movies onto my ipod 5th generation?

I have an ipod 5th generation. I just bought the newest macbook pro and started making a few iphoto videos. I transferred these videos to itunes in order to load them onto my ipod. However, itunes won't sync them because they cannot play on this ipod. Why can't they play? Do I need to change the formatting?

  • GETTING MOVIES ONTO NEW IPOD 5th Generation

I would like to know how to get movies that I have already downloaded from another website onto my IPOD. Also, how do I get movies from the ITunes Store when all I can see is Podcasts and no movies/tv shows.

Apple has not secured the right to distribute tv shows or movies outside of the US. So no tv shows or movies for you.
To move video content onto the ipod it must be formatted as MP4, complying to these standards:
Video formats supported: H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per sec., Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48 kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; H.264 video, up to 768 Kbps, 320 by 240 pixels, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48 kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48 kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
To do this, you need a transcoder(also called converter).
    Recommend 2 different ones:
    Mpeg streamclip(Mac and windows) http://www.squared5.com/
    Media coder(windows) http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/

  • How do I Sync All 5,000 of my songs onto my iPod 5th Generation without no problems at all, Most of my songs have the Album Artworks, some are ACC converted but after the "Changes Are Applied", it will say - Songs were not synced. File wasn't convert

I Am having a problem with syncing 5,000+ songs onto my IPod 5th Generation. Everytime I sync, some songs will either go away or ALL of them will come off my iPod. I have iTunes 12 for Windows, and it has a slow syncing process and it will take days for songs to get on the iPod. It will even say that any of the songs "we're not synced to my iPod because the file wasn't converted..
I Need help please, I would appreciate it.

    Hey Bryce,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like some songs aren’t being synced to your iPod touch because they aren’t in a compatible format. Can you play those tracks in iTunes? Try selecting the tracks that won’t sync and creating a new version of them with iTunes as shown in the article below.

  • Composite video out.  Why can't I sync some movies? What's the best res?

I'm guessing because I ripped some movies in a higher definition for use with the iPad and iPhone 4 I cannot add those movies to my iPod Classic 80GB.
Is there a good compromise in quality so I don't have to perform multiple rips? Better yet, is there a way I can add HiDef video to the iPod and play via the Apple Composite Video connector?
Given the relatively small storage space on the iPad and iPhone when compared to a iPod Classic it makes sense that the iPod would be a better storage and transport method for larger video files.
    Thanks in advance.

FIXED IT. For those of you who may be having the same problem, this is what I eventually had to do.
    1. erase my entire ipod
    2. put it all back on there
That seems simple but it also seems pointless. I do not know why I had to do this because I had already downlodaded the newest version of itunes, put everything on the cloud, and then downloaded everything back off of the cloud.
But for some reason I had to go in and
    1. put things from cloud back into library
    2. erase ipod (which had already had cloud info put back on it)
    3. transfer all library data straight from library to ipod (without use of cloud this time)
For some reason this made my video show up on my ipod and not just my itunes.

  • Why won't my podcasts sync from Itunes onto my Ipod (5th Gen/30Gb/Video)?

I have other podcasts that played on my Ipod before. But the newer ones are not syncing on my Ipod. I did have TV shows sync on my Ipod. Why they would only sync and not the others is beyond me. Also are podcasts the same as video podcasts? I know on my Ipod there are categories called "podcasts, or video podcasts". Please help!!

    Error messages:
    1. Some of the videos in your itunes library, including the video "Derezzed by Daft Punk", were not copied to the iPod "Ba25's iPod" because they can not be played on this iPod.
    2. Five different videos (podcasts - TV and Film) were not copied because the video format is not supported by the iPod "Ba25's iPod".

"Can you put purchased DVD movies that you have on your ipod? "
No.  breaking the encryption in order to copy them illegal.
" what about recorded DVD's that you have? "
    Add them to itunes.

  • Why can't i put a movie on my iPod Classic?

All of a sudden, I can't put a movie on my iPod Classic!  We've been transferring .mp4 and .mv4 movies to it and then playing them on our home TV setup for years . . . and now I keep getting the message "This movie was not copied to the iPod because it cannot be played on this iPod!"
    What?
We've reformatted/restored the iPod with the latest software version a couple of times now, but to no avail.  Same message every time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think I've found the problem here and its solution:
I use Handbrake 0.9.5 (mostly) to re-encode avi movies (and the like) for transfer to my Classic.  When I launch that application, the default translation preset is "Regular/Normal."  And therein lies the problem, for "Regular" most certainly does not work on the iPod Classic!  It does for my MacBook Pro, to be sure, but NOT for my old iPod.
However, the moment I select "Apple/iPod" as the preferred encoding preset, a check mark immediately appears in the small "iPod 5G Support" box . . . which is NOT checked when "Regular/Normal" is the default.  Eureka!
Now I have no problems moving movies to my Classic.  Nobody's at fault here . . . I just had to look a little closer at the available options.

  • Why can't I transfer HD movies to my iPod?

I can transfer about 90% of my movies, but the two I just bought on a blu-ray+dvd+digital copy (which show us as HD in my library) won't transfer. Accorcing to iTunes, my device can't play them. why is this?

What model iPod do you have? On the 4G and later can play/sync HD videos. You may have t use a third-party program to convert to compatible format.

  • HT1751 why can't i sync my iTunes music to my 1st generation apple tv

I have a first generation apple tv with a 160 gig hard drive. i bought it specifically as a storage for itunes. I used to be able to sync, now i can only stream? help?

Spoke with Apple support on this issue. After deleting all music and playlists from the phone, unchecking ALL boxes within Music tab on phone, and syncing, music was removed from phone. Then went back and checked sync music/selected playlists/the playlists I wanted on the phone, and it successfully synced those playlists. I did lose the purchased playlist on the phone, which I like because it's my newest music, but that is easily fixed by making a smart playlist of recent purchases and adding it to the sync.
    Hope that helps.

  • Can someone please help me to reset an Ipod 5th generation passcode.

Can someone plese tell me how to help my daughter?  She typed in a passcode but must not have hit the right number because now it is locked.  It is not set up through itunes either.  Getting very frustrated,,,,,,,please help me!

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • Why can't I manually transfer podcasts onto ipod?

I have an ipod classic, and I'm trying to move selected podcasts onto it by clicking and dragging.
It looks like it should work, but nothing goes onto my ipod. If I add the podcasts to a playlist and then add the playlist, then I can get the podcasts to move onto the ipod, but does anyone know why I can't do it the normal way?
I don't want to sync all my episodes as then I'll lose most of them because they're from another computer that died.

This seems very similar (if not identical) to my issue:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=725691&tstart=0
Has Apple removed the ability to manually select and delete individual Podcasts on your iPod via iTunes? And if so, why on earth would they do that? It can't be a "feature" can it?
I don't want to have to delete Podcast episodes from my harddrive/iTunes library simply to delete them from my iPod; I maintain a large library of Podcasts, and I like to manually move them to the iPod when I feel like listening to them in the car or whatever, and deleting them later (from the iPod only, not from iTunes).
I'm about ready to downgrade back to iTunes 6...
