Why can't I transfer HD movies to my iPod?

I can transfer about 90% of my movies, but the two I just bought on a blu-ray+dvd+digital copy (which show us as HD in my library) won't transfer. Accorcing to iTunes, my device can't play them. why is this?

Why can't i put a movie on my iPod Classic?

All of a sudden, I can't put a movie on my iPod Classic! We've been transferring .mp4 and .mv4 movies to it and then playing them on our home TV setup for years . . . and now I keep getting the message "This movie was not copied to the iPod because it cannot be played on this iPod!"
What?
We've reformatted/restored the iPod with the latest software version a couple of times now, but to no avail. Same message every time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think I've found the problem here and its solution:
I use Handbrake 0.9.5 (mostly) to re-encode avi movies (and the like) for transfer to my Classic. When I launch that application, the default translation preset is "Regular/Normal." And therein lies the problem, for "Regular" most certainly does not work on the iPod Classic! It does for my MacBook Pro, to be sure, but NOT for my old iPod.
However, the moment I select "Apple/iPod" as the preferred encoding preset, a check mark immediately appears in the small "iPod 5G Support" box . . . which is NOT checked when "Regular/Normal" is the default. Eureka!
Now I have no problems moving movies to my Classic. Nobody's at fault here . . . I just had to look a little closer at the available options.

Even one (Harry Potter) that I downloaded straight after purchesing it as a digital copy to my phone, once I synced it to Itunes it said that the movie was not compatible and would not allow it back onto my phone.

You cannot set sync and manually manage music at the same time. You can only use one or the other. If you want to manually manage music, then turn that on and it should remove all music from the phone and then you can put it on there. However, once you start to manually manage music, you cannot sync, as those settings will not be active.

Why can't I transfer my iTunes from my old laptop to new? Only way seems to sync iPod to new laptop and wipe out all the stored stuff!

Are you manually dragging and dropping files in an attempt to move music from your client itunes to your idevice? And seeing the process hang and potentially locking itunes?
I have been having similar issues, but recently found something that works for my ipad air. Not sure if this will help you but...
In your itunes client music library:
Right click on one music file
Hover over the Add to Playlist option
Select a playlist from your iphone in the side popup window
See if that helps move the music file over. If it does, test out the original drag and drop on a new file. The move to playlist option seemed to clear whatever blockage I had and I'm not dragging and dropping with ease.

Why can't I import a .mov created with QT screen recording into FCX?

I created a .mov file with QuickTime's Screen Recording mode. The movie thus created opens in the QuickTime Player and plays fine, but when I try to import it into FCX's editor with File>Import, I get an error message: "File Error: 1 file(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown".
Why can't I import this .mov to edit it in FCX?

Bengt, I believe the OP's "FCX" does mean FCE.
Like Al said, they need to be transcoded (say, to AIC) in something like MPEG Streamclip, QT Pro or Compressor.
Actually, FCP X will happily open them.

I am trying to get my old library onto my new computer and the best way for me to do that is take them off of my I Phone 3gs and "transfer purchases" but when I try it the "authorize this computer " shows up and it is already authorized! You can very easily.
Simply copy the entire /Music/iTUnes folder from old computer to new computer.
