Why can't i transfer music to my iphone?

i am using an iphone 4 running IOS 7.0.4. I can't tranafer music from my itunes to my phone. Why not? I just get a circle with a line through it and the number of songs i want to transfer

You should transfer your library from your old computer to the new one.
If that is not possible then you should be able to:
Backup the device to the new installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

ive tried everything to get my apps to sync to my itunes i dont kno what im missing ive tried file trnasfer so many times.up at the top of itunes where it shows all the apps downloading the bar under that wont load i dont kno if it has something to do with that or not.please help mem im getting the new iphone 4s at the end of the month and i want all my apps so i dont lose them.

Yes, my phone is detected and I can back it up using itunes. I can transfer video to the itunes library, but can't then move it onto the iphone. I've tried transferring direct from windows explorer to the iphone but that doesn't work either. No error messages appear.

Why can't I transfer music on my computer to my Ipad?

I recently pudated Itunes and my Ipad and Iphone. Now I can't get any music on my computer to sync with my Ipad or Iphone. The songs show up in the Itunes menu to be sinced, but they are greyed out. This is making my Ipad totally useless. Is there some trick to it or am I stuck with a $600 useless piece of junk?

Well I figured it out on my own. After updating Itunes, I couldn't sync any music that wasn't purchased from Itunes which I mentioned above. I later discovered that 90% of all music i had allready had on my Ipad would no longer play either.
The fix; delete everything from the Ipad and re-sync. It looks like all of my CD rips, home recordings, Internet purchases and Itunes purchases are all working now.

I thought for sure I used to be able to swipe to delete albums or tracks on my iphone - on my iphone 5 I can no longer do this. I found that if I turn itunes match off, I can delete. But turning itunes match on and off a lot is really a huge issue. It seems every time I do this the iphone loses track of some of the music.

... frustrated, you end up deleting the whole library. Because there seems to be no other way to clear space.
And re-download.
But "use cellular data" is back on, so it downloads when you're out.
And your phone bill is now $300 because you live in Canada and the data caps are so low.
Great. Now I paid over $350 to get my music I already own onto the phone.
At this point, the old USB seems like a better option. Or even the firewire 400. Longing for the days of my 10 gig iPod with a FireWire cable.

Why can I not drag music to my iPhone anymore - iTunes Match

This is beyond a joke now. I cannot drag music onto my iPhone now. Apparently I have to download the music from iCloud first. It comes up with the message, "You must download items from iCloud beforeyou can copy them to your phone."
The music is on my bloody hard drive, why do I need to download it? Just a joke.
This is a frigging joke. How can I turn iTunes Match off, I've had nothing but bloody trouble with it since I bought it last week.
- Only about 60% of music is availble, I refuse to upload 8000 tracks, it will take months.
- I can't drag and drop music anymore to iPhone
- Why does it not match certain tracks off the same album 6/10 tracks from the same album, really?
- 5000 tracks with errors, really?
How do I turn it off and go back to normal? Is my library knackered now, will I have to reimport all my music.
So bloody annoyed with this.

Well, I've solved the problem now, just about!!!
What I did was followed most of the guidlines in the link you gave me and set the folder location for Itunes library to the D Drive where it was present. I then re-synced my music (which deleted everything and added everything back to my Iphone) and now it is letting me check the point "manually manage music and videos" without giving me the message so I have lost my playlists doing this and had a very frustrating time trying to sort this out but everything as far as I can see is now in place and I've kept my apps etc....

i have a lot of music stored in my itunes library and have only been able to add 75 songs to my iphone 5. When i had my iphone 4 i was able to add all the music i wanted from my entire library.

Why can't I put music on my iphone?

Last night I dragged an dropped and it was fine. Tonight I decided to add some more and now it isn't. I have the dreaded red circles with squares. It's greyed out when I look at my phone music on itunes. I have not time to check, uncheck, check, uncheck a thousand times.

This was my problem:
"song" was not copied to the iphone because it cannot be played on this iphone.
I did this:
1. right click displayed song on itunes.
2. click, "create AAC version
3. I dragged song to iphone, and it finally accepted the song.
conclusion: after days trying to figure it out, it was something easy the whole time.

when i connect the usb it says
The iphone " insert name " cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 10.7 or later. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes.
i downloaded the latest itunes to no effect.
any advice would be so appreciated, i just got my iphone today. music is the only thing i really want on it.

From your post I see that you're unable to move files to your external hard drive ever since it was unplugged before being ejected. To start troubleshooting this issue, I'd like you to please repair the disk using Disk Utility.

Why can't I transfer music files from i-Tunes to my 30GB ipod?

I have just updated the software on my ipod, and now there seems to be a major problem. When I drag a song from the i-Tunes library to the ipod folder it has a 30% success rate - the other 70% gets the message "attempting to copy to the disk 'name' failed. An unknown error occured (-48)." What on earth does this mean?
NB. yes my preferences are set to manual update

HT1711 My laptop got restored so i lost all my music, photos, etc. Can I possibly transfer music from my iPhone to iTunes?

Is there any possible way I can transfer my music and photos from my iPhone to my now new iTunes which has nothing on it.
I dont want to lose my photos or music.
