Why can't I update apps at the app store?

I cannot connect to the iTunes store and update my apps. I dont know why. I have an ipod touch 5th gen and IOS 7. Also two of my apps just disappeared from my home screen. Dont know what is happening.

Do you have automatic updates turned on? That is new for iOS 7. If yo d you may see that some apps need updates but that goes away after the automatic update prcess finished. The iPod periodically checkds for updates and periodically updates apps.
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

If your iPad is 3G then I think Johnathan has answered the question - if the downloads were larger than 20MB. If the downloads were smaller than 20MB you can try restarting or resetting your iPad and see if that helps.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

I have been given my Auntie's Mac to use and I can't get the updates in the App Store because I can't log in. Why?

You will need to use the same Apple ID and password that was used for the original purchases, (even free apps).
Otherwise, create your own Apple ID and purchase your own.
From the App Store menu bar click Store > Sign In > Create Apple ID

I have same problem. Same message when trying to update iphoto as required to obtain iCloud photostream. Also, when I go to purchased apps, it lists 3 --- imovie, iphoto and garage band -- and notes there is an update available for iphoto, but requires me to "accept" (sending hardware id) in the upper right corner. When I click on "accept," the screen sort of blinks and otherwise nothing happens.
Am stuck.

To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it." Not sure how to update them...I am signed in under my Apple ID and all of my software is up to date. Any help??

Why can't you purchase stuff from the itunes store if you're not in that country? I'm in South Africa and most of the best things I want to download are on the US itunes, so I try switch to it but it won't let me download or purchase? I don't get it?

I don't get why? What's the harm if you're in a different country? We all pay the same way and the internet was made to connect people over the world, stuff is downloaded from different global destinations millions of times a day. So what's the point of having an itunes store and App Store that limits you to the boring stuff in your own country? You read about these great app's, bands etc and find them in search engines, you have all the Mac products, but then you can't use them coz of where you're currenlty living? It's like a horrible tease!
Is there a way around this? Or what can be done in order to access the things I want?

The reason is licensing - artists/record companies/TV networks/movie distributors all have separate licensing deals in different countries (or no licensing deals at all). It isn't mysterious or secret.
The only way around this is to have an iTunes account in the other country - either a valid credit card with billing address in that country, or an iTunes gift card from that country (though you'll still be asked for a billing address in the country for which you've purchased the card).

I've been having that issue off and on lately, but I'm certain it's my cable provider and not my Mac. You probably see the Wifi indicator with an "!" in the middle of it? It means that the Wifi was able to get onto the network, but not to make an internet connection because of a bad IP address.
So, to resolve my issue, I have to reboot my router. Give that a try to see if it clears it up for you.

Why can't I find App Store or iTunes on my iPad Air anymore?

I got this iPad Air as a late Christmas present this past Christmas. Up until this point, it's worked very well, but now nothing to do with the App Store can be found. Siri cannot see any app named AppStore or iTunes, the search cannot find anything to do with it on the iPad, and it cannot be found scrolling through All the apps either.
What do I do To fix this? sorry but my mom let my little brother cover this iPad in stickers, and all basic info is covered for now other then this is a iPad Air

It looks like its had 11.7 GB usable, with just 1.1 available. I don't know about the processor, but I suspect is clocked slow by factory for battery since my iPhone is far faster in all equal areas but battery on this lasts far longer then the iPad 2 and iPhone 4s

Why can't I buy downloads from the US store? I am in the UK.

I am in th UK and have bought an 80GB iPod on which I want to play videos while I travel.
The UK video and TV content is almost non-existent. Jimmy Carr? Bloody Ricky Gervais? How utterly appaling. If there is amy more content, I cannot find it, and I find the iStore site difficult to use and impossible to find anything on.
The US store is full of shows and movies I wish to download, but it say my account cannot buy from this store. Why is this?
If this is a permanent state of affairs, you can have my iPod back and cancel my subscription. What regional rubbish in an international communications age.

Blame the studios. I am sure Apple would like to allow cross country purchases. You want access to the American store, whereas I would like the Australian and British stores in addition to the American one.
