Why can't I update my iMovie from version 8.0.6?

I haven't been able to update my 8.0.6 to anything higher? Ive tried to upload 9.0.2 but it keeps saying I need to already have installed version 9.0 or higher but I can't seem to find that.
8.0.6 quits unexpectedly every 30 seconds.  I can't work on any projects at all.

Hey Alwazdansing,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you want to install a newer version of iMovie you can find it in the Mac App Store. If you need to already have installed 9.0, it is not installed on the computer. Since the version of iMovie is quitting unexpectedly, you should take a look at this article.

Why can't I update to Mavericks from 10.6.8 on a Mac Pro Desktop Early 2008. It meets all requirements listed by Apple.

I'm having the same issue with same error message "OS X Mavericks cannot be installed on this computer". I click the "INSTALL" button in the app store and I get the message.
I have a macbook pro 15 inch, 60 GB of free space, 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 3 GB of Ram (well really 4 but it can't see the 1 extra gig). Mac OS X version 10.7.5.   I read the install description and I meet the requirement.
I have checked Launchpad for a stalled install (all 3 pages) and have checked if I have a time machine backup file on my root directory. No, I don't.

  • HT1338 why can i not update my software from 10.6.8

why can i not update my software from 10.6.8?

Because there are no updates beyond OS X 10.6.8.
If you want to upgrade to a later version, you have to buy it. Mountain Lion is $19.99 US.

  • Why can't I update/ download apps from the app store after upgrading to iOS 7.0.3?

I have an iphone 5 and updated my phone to the lastest version (ios 7.0.3) last night. I can't download/ update any apps from the app store using my cellular network.  The only error message is that the app cant be downloaded at this time. As soon as I click the download button, the image of the icon shows up with "Waiting" underneath the icon.  I tried tapping on the app icon to pause the download but that isn't working. I have disabled Wi-Fi setting and enabled"the use cellular data" option in the itunes and app store setting page.  Memory is not an issue because I have a lot of memory available.  In the cellular setting page the App Store is enabled to use cellular data.  It seems like it is a setting issue.  What can be done to fix this problem

Thanks for your suggestion.  Not long ago before I saw your response I tried to download the app and I seemed to have some progress (I had 5 bars and 1x). It looked it was 3/4 of the download complete only to have the same error message.
Since then I reset the phone and I have tried downloading the app when there 5 bars with 3g.  Every time the icon has waiting underneath it and I get the same error message.

  • Why can't I update my apps from my iTunes on Mac?

So I have 16 apps on my iPhone that needs to be updated. I have limited internet access on my iPhone so I can't update my apps from there. So, I have to update my apps via iTunes on my Mac. However, when I clicked "16 Updates Available" at the bottom part of the apps window, it led me to a window saying "No updates are currently available. To check updates for another Apple ID, sign in with that Apple ID".
    Why is this happening?
I need to update my apps and I have re-checked my Apple ID numerous times to make sure the correct one is associated.

If you are getting the bank white screen in the updates tap - There is a problem with Apple’s servers that only they can fix.
According to Fly150 in another discussion, this will work.
This is a workaround only and not a fix. If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
    1. Go to App Store
    2. Select Purchased
    3. Select All
    4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
    Select update on the Apps
Another option is to update your apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the updated apps to the iPad.
    1. Launch iTunes
    2. Click on Apps in the list under the Library heading in the left Sidebar.
Click on Updates at the top in the window on the right
    Update all of the apps
Connect your iPad and Sync with iTunes
If you do not see the sidebar in iTunes 11 - go to View>Show Sidebar from the iTunes menu at the top.
You can also try closing the App Store on the iPad and reboot the device and see if that fixes your problem.
Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Why can i not update to the new version of iPhoto and Garageband through the appstore?

When trying to update, I keep getting the pop-up:
"We could not complete your request
There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (null)".
How can I update to the new version?
Im running on the OS X Lion 10.7.4 system for Macbook Pro I have the Version 9.2 of iPhoto and 6.0.4 of Garageband. If that's of any assistance.

Because you don't. You update using Software Update or by going to the Apple web site.
I think iLife is being updated from MAS now, thus the need for a AppleID to update it.
One person had iLife and tried to update with a differnent AppleID and it rejected it, seems they bought a open box machine and iLife was installed using another AppleID for display purposes.
When one reinstalls Lion, and has to install iLife, they have to go to MAS to do it.
Restoring iLife applications after Internet Restore of OS X Lion
If you reinstall Lion on a new Mac that shipped with OS X Lion installed, on an erased or replaced hard drive, you can download iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand from the Mac App Store.
    After installation, start from Lion.
Double-click the App Store icon in the dock.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
    Click Purchases.
If you haven't previously accepted your bundled iLife applications within the Mac App Store, you should see your iLife applications appear in the Accept portion of the screen. Click Accept.
You may be asked for your Apple ID and password once again. Your iLife applications now move to the Purchased section. These applications are part of the software that came with your Lion based computer. Your account will not be charged for them. Click Install to compete installation of your applications.

  • Why can't i update my iMac past version 10.4.11

My parents bought this mac a while ago so it is considerably older. They still know nothing about how to work it so thats been my responsibility for a while. I need help with either updating my mac or finding the next cheapest software to purchase so that I am able to sync my iPod with iTunes, be able to download current applications and also be able to use skype/oovoo again.
    Thanks

Please do "About this Mac" from your Apple menu and post what it says ab out your processor type and speed. Looks something like this:
That will help us give you a more detailed answer. Also post how much RAM your iMac has; that info is in teh same window as the processor info. 10.5 needs a lot of RAM.
If the processor speed shows less than 1gHz, you cannot install OS 10.5 unless you resort to a third party hack.
Apple decided that the minimum processor for a reasonable level of performance was a G4 running at 867mHz. Presumably, 10.5 is too taxing of a slower processor than 867.

  • Why can't I update to the latest itunes version? My computer says an error occured and that if the problem persists to load manually

Why can't I update to the latest version of itunes. My computer tells me an error occured and if it happens again to load manually

Had exactly same problem on iPad1. "Unable to check for update. An error occurred while checking for a software update".  Been getting this since 3/7/2012.  Apple support said probably server overload.  Checked these comments and found answer that worked.
    -- Reset device
. Backup your iPhone/iPad to iCloud (very important). Settings>iCloud> Storage and Backup>Backup Now (at the bottom)
. Erase your device.  Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content And Settings
.  Device will reset and wipe itself
.  When it restarts follow the instructions on screen and setup your device.
You're choices here do not really matter except for restoring From a  backup.
Do not restore a backup, chose "Set up as new".
.  When complete, the Software Update should now work which will install IOS 5.1
.  When installed, Erase the device again (see Above).
.  Once erased, follow the Wizard but this time select that you wish to restore from a backup
In iCloud.  Select the backup that you took in first step.
.  Your device should be back to normal and with IOS 5.1.
This takes time to complete but it worked. Thanks to Glosdeveloper for this.  By the way this was an "over the air" update (as opposed to plugged in.

  • HT4972 why can't I update my iPhone to OS 5

Why can't I update my iOS from 4.2.10 to 5.0.?

You appear to have an iPhone 3G, which can't be updated past 4.2.1. If you happen to have a newer iPhone, it will be updated to 6.0.1 or 6.0.2, not 5.0.

  • HT5784 Why does Apple only "update" to already outdated versions

Hi, why can't Apple update to current stable versions of OpenSSL (1.0.1e), Ruby (2.0), Rails (3.2.13), etc. Why can't Apple ship current stable versions of all the command line tools like emacs, vi, zsh, ruby, python, etc. And Rails 2 must be a joke, that's extremely outdated. Why is this?
I don't understand it. Sure I can upgrade my userland myself with Homebrew, etc. but it would be nice if Apple won't forget the pro users and therefore will ship a modern userland.
It looks like there was a time when current versions were shipped, but now it's not interesting anymore and only security fixes are released.
    Any thoughts on that?
    Regards,
    Clemens

But the majority is still very old.
The bash version used in Mavericks is 6 years old.
That is a completely different issue. Bash, and a few other key pieces of open source software, switched to the GPLv3 license sometime in 2007. That license was designed specifically to keep Apple from using the software.
The version of bash on Mavericks is all that you will ever, ever get unless you build your own. I suggest trying out zsh which is under no such licensing contraints. The lastest version of zsh is included in Mavericks.
Do you think it helps to create a feature request to update OpenSSL, etc. at radar.apple.com ? (I am thinking about Mac OS X 10.10)
That would be a good idea. While I understand Apple's approach, it isn't great from a marketing perspective. Apple really does need to switch to the latest OpenSSL, even if only for appearance's sake.

You need to ask Apple for assistance with getting back into your old ID. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to resolve this issue through the Account Security team, fill out and submit this form.
