Why can't i update my iPod to iOS 5 it says can't connect to iTunes update server?

ios 5 is supposed to be released today but i keep getting the message saying cant connect to update server?

Thinking seems to be 10:00 am Pacific time...should still be able to connect to the 4.3 update, but maybe they have taken that down in anticipation.
You do need iTunes 10.5 for the iOS 5 update, so have you installed that?

What gen iPod Touch is it ? If it's the second gen then it only supports up to iOS 4.2.1

Disable your firewall and antivirus software, restart your iPad, quit iTunes, restart your computer and then try to update again.

Make sure your system time & date is set properly. If it is not, then move it backwards 2 months, then try to connect to the store. Good chance it will work then.
Change it back after again.

If you have the latest version of iTunes, and nothing else is working, maybe putting the device into recovery mode will help.
To put the device into recovery mode:

After you've done this, you should be able to restore your device. This will remove your data.

- Powering off and then back on your router.
- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
Public DNS — Google Developers
OpenDNS IP Addresses
- Try on another computer/network
- Wait if it is an Apple problem

Try reseting your device.
Hold the power button and the home button down until the device shuts off, then power it back on and see if the problem is resolved.

As Apple has posted on their website since early June, only the 5th gen ipod touch can handle ios 7.

Photo Stream has only the recent shots in Camera Roll.
