Why can't I update my iTunes or apps?

Why can't I update my iTunes on my iPad....  Or any apps. Tells me "can't connect to iTunes"  even tho password is good?

iTunes is built into ios and is only a link to the store to buy media, it is not like itunes on a pc and can not be updated outside of an IOS update.
If you are receiving that error message it means itunes is experiencing server problems, your internet connection is experiencing problems or your firewall/antivirus junk is causing problems.

    There are plenty of apps still compatible with iOS 4.2.1. Not a majority, necessarily, but they're still out there. If the app you want requires a newer version, find another app the accomplishes the same thing.
    Of course, it may be too late for that now, since you chose to hack/jailbreak your iPhone, and it is currently a brick. As varjak paw stated, this forum will not help you with your hacked phone.

    When buying, I click on the price (or FREE), and then click on BUY or INSTALL. The circle comes up, animated, and then returns back to the price or BUY. Nothing else happens.

  • TS1702 My apps won't update and I get a message saying "This apple I'd is only valid for use in a Canadian store". I only have a canadian account. Why can't I update on already purchased apps?

    I live in white rock but do travel to the states a lot. I've heard that if you have an American account you can buy apps from the us but have to log in back and forth to use them. But I only have one account and it's Canadian. Everything worked fine until recently I can no longer update apps I've been using since I bought my iPad. It always kicks me back and forth between us and Canadian stores but doesn't update anything. I've tried restarting and reloading, deleting and repurchasing. I haven't seen anybody else with this one! Please help!

    1. Make sure internet is working
    2. Make sure iPad is using the latest software
    3. Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>On
    4. Make sure Time Zone is correct
    5. Try restart iPad

    I have had this iTunes for a while and I don't think it's updating because I don't have the iCloud on it and it's hasn't connected with the iTunes Store either. I constantly try to connect the iTunes Store but it never works, I always make double check that I do have Internet on my laptop but it never works! I don't want to Re-install my iTunes because i have more than 500 songs and i do not want to lose them all. Everytime i check for updates it says "The iTunes update server could not be contacted. Please check your internet connection, or try again later. when ever i plug in my iPod or iPhone, it syncs perfectly but i can't access the iTunes store from my laptop, i can't use the iCloud because it's just not there and I also can't get my purchased songs on my laptop.

    With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:
    Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
    (If there's a SpeedBit LSP showing up in Autoruns, it's usually best to just uninstall your SpeedBit Video Accelerator.)

    Well the requirements for iTunes 11.1 state that it needs 10.6.8 to work.

    i use my parents Apple ID and it works for them but not for me. They changed the password and I put in the password to update and it stop after I submit the password. it goes back to update. I tried my own Apple ID and it still doesn't work.

    Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it!   It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    This works for some users. Not sure why.
    Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.
