I was wondering how i'm able to put music from the itunes on my Macbook Pro to my iPhone 5.
when i connect the usb it says
The iphone " insert name " cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 10.7 or later. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes.
i downloaded the latest itunes to no effect.
any advice would be so appreciated, i just got my iphone today. music is the only thing i really want on it.

From your post I see that you're unable to move files to your external hard drive ever since it was unplugged before being ejected. To start troubleshooting this issue, I'd like you to please repair the disk using Disk Utility.

The iphone is not a storage/backup device. The picture sycn is one way - computer to iphone. The photos are also reduced in size when synced to iphone so they are not of the original quality
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup of your computer.
Have you failed to do this?
If so, not good at all, you can e-mail the pics to yourself - keep in mind they will never be of the original quality -

Just plug my iphone in to a mac and copy a photo from the mac to my iphone.
I don't have internet access - I can't email it, or mobileme it, or dropbox it.iTunes. Other than that there is no direct method. However, do try the iPhone forums.

Please disregard. I figured it out. Answer for anyone else running into this problem: You have to turn off iTunes Match on both devices. Apparently, if you activate iTunes Match it deactivates your abiltiy to direct sync.

I Created an Album in iPhoto and called it " My iPhone Photos "...
And put just the Photos I wanted into it...
Now when I Sync my iPhone... I just Check / Tick that Album...

Why won't my music sync from my Macbook Pro to my iPhone 5?
When syncing my phone, the music doesn't go from the computer to the phone. Just recently I got a bunch of physical albums and after I uploaded them to the computer, I wanted to put them on my phone. I checked to make sure I have enough data, and I did. But when I try to sync the music from my Macbook Pro to my Iphone 5, it doesn't work. On my computer it says that the music is on my phone, yet it isn't. I tried deleting all the music and resyncing it, but that didn't work either. It shows some of the songs greyed out on the computer with dotted circles next the them, what is that? Also, on my phone, some of the songs have circles next to them with squares in them and when i click them they just turn grey. I've been trying for a few days and I am getting very frustrated. Please help!
I have this same problem. It is constantly recurring and after trying just about everything, I'm almost ready to give up.
Things I've tried, that have not worked:
restarting computer
closing all open apps on iPhone before sync
restarting iphone before sync
syncing with wire
syncing without wire (over wifi)
converting the music files to another encoding
dragging the music files individually onto the iphone in iTunes
dragging a selection of music files
putting music files in a playlist and adding that playlist

Since I updated to 10.9 I am not able to upload photos from iphoto (v.8.1.2) to facebook. When I try to upload the "publish" button is not highlighted so I can not click on it. I used to be able to upload from iphoto all the time. Is there some setting that I have to change?

I have ~5000 photos on my MacBook Pro, only a few if which were taken with my iPhone. If I use Sync in iTunes any photos on my computer that were not taken with my iPhone are deleted from my computer. There is no obvious way to prevent this happening. Could I create a duplicate iPhoto library and "sacrifice" it while syncing my iPhone without losing other libraries? Any other ideas?
No, that doesn't work that way.
Photos on your computer ae not deleted by iTunes. When you sync photos to an iPhone using iTunes, photos on the iPhone that are not in the folders or albums being synced by itunes will be deleted from the iPhone. Photos on your computer should not be touched at all.
Also transferring pictures from the iPhone to a computer has nothing to do with iTunes.
It is done through Photos, iPhoto, Aperture, or even Image Capture. -

Whenever there is a new verison of Itunes ready to be downloaded and installed I click on install it goes out to the web and begins downloading Itunes & QuickTime and the progress bar stops about 1/4 of the way accross and the updates never download
