Why can't I use 2 scrolling movieclips in the same movie?

Hi all,
I've created a couple of sites now that both use scrolling
movieclips...
If there is one scrolling mc, it works fine but as soon as I
add another (using the same code and instance names - just a
different mc) the up buttons fail to work properly. I've tried
changing the instance names but it makes no difference.
Does anyone know why this happens? Is it a bug in Flash 8? Is
there a way round this?

it might be easier to see what i'm doing rather than actually
describing it...

here. the
unlocked layers on the main timeline are the ones of interest.
have you had this problem before? if you test the movie and
select a section with the scrollbars (ie. the gallery) it just
jumps to a random place for no apparent reason!

Why can't I use Paypal for iTunes in The Netherlands?

For some time now I have been trying to complete my account so I can finally make purchases from the iTunes store. Today I tried again hoping that there would finally be a payment option besides credit cards. I was delighted to see the paypal option. I went through all the steps but eventually got an error message saying that iTunes needs a US based paypal account. Turns out I was in the US iTunes store when I tried to create my account. When I switched to the Dutch store there was no paypal option, only credit cards. Why the H can't I use paypal in the Dutch iTunes store when US citizens can choose PP? And if the PP option is in the works for The Netherlands, when will it be available?

Sorry, but Paypal is not available as a purchase option in the Netherlands nor, to the best of my knowledge, anywhere other than the US. Why this is, no one here knows or can say.

Do you really think it's not possible to do both and set them up the way that you want them to be set up? You just don't understand how the process works.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the control center if you are running iOS 7. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to control center . Tap on the bell icon and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock can be accessed in the same manner as described above.

Can two computers use USB to print to the same printers?

My wife and I have two macs, side by side, one a G5 iMac and the other a G5 PowerMac, both running 10.5.1 We have four printers, and we both use all of them at different times. We have one powered USB hub with four ports.
What we would like to do is have all of the printers available to each of us. We had tried Bluetooth and that works OK, but as we understand it both computers have to be turned on to connect that way, and sometimes we are not both at our computers at the same time.
Is there a way for us to do this?

You can turn all 4 printers into network printers using a 4 USB port to ethernet print server like this one at Amazon:

I've used devices like this for PC networks, but this one says it's also compatible with Mac OS X.2 and up. There are many more of these print servers available, so it's probably a matter of budget for quality.
When I've set these things up on PC's I first had to connect the printers directly to the PC so that I could get the drivers for the printer to install. Then I changed them to network printers. On your Mac's you've already got the drivers working for the different printers, so you won't have to deal with that until you replace a printer with it's new driver.
Of course, for this to work, you will have to have an ethernet network to plug the device into, but you didn't provide any information about your connectivity options.
Neither Mac has to be running for the other one to print.

I can't believe I can't run Safari and Skype at the same time without my computer freezing up, it's a MacBook Pro with Mac OS 10.6.8 and it has an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU with 2.2 Ghz and 2 Gb of RAM. Is this a hardware problem or a software problem?

I haven't gone to the trouble of actually testing to see which uses more CPU power, but Firefox has been faster than Safari on every Mac I've ever owned.
To see CPU usage by process, open the terminal (in Utilities) and enter 'top' at the command line. You might have to expand the window as processes don't appear in any logical order.
It could also be hardware-related: I have late 2009 mini with similar specs and it pinwheels easily.

Why can't I share between two users on the same computer?

I just got a new Mac Pro, and I had some difficulty getting Migration Assistant to work, so by the time I finally did get it to work, I already had a few apps and docs on my computer. So after I ran Migration Assistant, I discovered that some of my files had disappeared. I finally figured out that I now had two different users on my computer (that were both me) and I had to switch to the other version of me to get my missing files. So I logged into my other user account, and I moved everything into the shared folder, and then went back to my current profile and tried to open the drop box. I got this message: "The folder “Drop Box” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents." So I went back and set the sharing and permissions so that everyone could read and write. Then I went back, and I still got the same error message. So then I went back and set the permissions of every folder in the hierarchy so that everyone can read and write. Still got the same error message. Then I went into my old account, went into Sharing in the System Preferences, turned on sharing and set it so everyone has read and write access. Still got the same error message. So before I just copy everything onto an external drive, I thought I'd see if anyone here had any ideas.
I really wish I could opt out of this whole "users" business, on my own computer computer in my own home. That's one thing I really miss about OS 9.

Can my ipad use wifi and bluetooth at the same time?

I can stream radio via wifi radio apps and play through earphones. I can connect to my bluetooth speaker and play music stored on my ipad ok.
When I connect up to my bluetooth speaker and try to stream the radio app it plays for a couple of seconds then stops for 20 seconds then plays for 2 seconds and carries on start, stop, start (I guess it's buffering or something?).
Is it not possible to listen to a radio app and stream it to a bluetooth speaker at the same time?
Any suggestions welcome

A quick check of the talktalk forum and it's my talktalk D-link 2780 router. It's a known problem.
It all works ok on next doors router so Off to PC World for a decent router.

Can 2 workstations use 1 catalog not at the same time

I have my primary workstation here in my office where I do all editing etc.
My printer unfortunately is 2 floors up, so I am bussy running up and down for every single sheet I print.
So, I am thinking on setting up a workstation near the printer as well, just to do the printing, not any editing.
My idea would be to save and use all images and catalogs on my NAS and open the same catalog on the other workstation.
Would that work?

No. You cannot have your catalogue on a network drive. Lightroom won't allow it.
The usual way of sharing a catalogue between two computers is to put the catalogue and all images on an external hard drive (preferably with a fast (not USB 2) interface) and carry that drive between machines. That might help in your case.

You can try to set the pref ui.trackpoint_hack.enabled to 0 or 1 on the about:config page to see if that makes it work.
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page. 
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold(user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.

Why can't I use my Apple ID in the app store?

I made an Apple ID and every time I try to log in it say your account has not been used in the app store and has me sign in and agree to terms and conditions then after I press continue a shadow appears we're a window should be and if I click on it sometimes it will have me chose where I'm from or Mr.Mrs.or Ms. But if u press out side the shadow it says do u want to cancel it.? I've re done this many times and still I can't download apps if anyone has an answer please let me know as soon as possible.
