    Hi, I own an iPhone 4, recently I restored it and now I can't activate iMessage and FaceTime using my phone number.
    I read and performed all the steps shown in apple troubleshooting article about activating iMessage and FaceTime and that didn't work either.
    Before restoring the iPhone both iMessage and FaceTime were working just fine...
    Why is that? What can I do?

    I have an iPhone, an itouch, an iPad and my kids each have an itouch as well as my bf who has an iPad mini. Is there a way that we can use iMessage and FaceTime with each other? All devices use one account for purchases. Can we each have an ID without losing our music and movies?

    Thank you for the reply... But now, I have to ask, HOW?! Lol I have added and verified their emails, but I don't think that's the same is it? I basically need step by step instructions. Maybe I just missed it, but I have searched how to do this and can't figure it out. So any help would be greatly appreciated... We each have a couple hundred various songs and movies etc downloaded, but all registered and synced to my account and I really don't want to have to buy duplicates of one direction, Taylor Swift, etc. ☺ so to anyone who can give me a hand...     if the issue happens when you're trying to reach someone who doesn't have an appleid or is not connected, then it's normal.
    also check in settings>general>date & time> and set automaticly ON, that's a problem with facetime and iMessage...

    After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with iMessage and FaceTime. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice for the issue you are experiencing:
    If you have difficulty activating FaceTime or iMessage - Apple Support
    If you see "Could not sign in, please check your network connection and try again" when signing in to your Apple ID
    To resolve this issue, follow these steps.
    Update to the latest version of iOS.
    Verify that you have a data connection by going to www.apple.com in Safari. You can complete Apple ID activation using Wi-Fi or a cellular data connection. If you need help connecting to Wi-Fi, follow these steps.
    If you're using Wi-Fi, make sure that your local Wi-Fi network is using the recommended Wi-Fi settings.
    Sign in to your account and ensure that the primary email address and alternate e-mail addresses have been verified. If verification is pending, follow the instructions in the email Apple sent to that email address to complete verification. Or remove the e-mail addresses from the account.
    If your Apple ID isn't an email address, you can change it. The Apple ID that you're using to activate FaceTime or iMessage must be an email address. Find more information on how to change your Apple ID.
    Tap Settings > General > Date & Time. Make sure that your iPhone is set to the correct time zone. If Set Automatically is on but the wrong time zone appears, turn Set Automatically off and choose the correct time zone, date, and time.
    Enable iMessage and FaceTime while connected to a different Wi-Fi network (in a different location) if a cellular data connection is not available.
    You can see that you've activated FaceTime and iMessage with your Apple ID by following these steps.
    Tap Settings > FaceTime > You can be reached by FaceTime at:

    I just bought the new iPad WiFi but I can't activate iMessage and FaceTime.. I get message about failed connection to the WiFi network although it is connected and I can browse the web, Facebook, get stream photos and such without trouble.

    After reviewing your post, it sounds like you linked the phone number to iMessage and iMessage wont turn on. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.
    iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage - Apple Support
    The telephone number will be dimmed when you view these settings on an iPhone.

    Go to settings and check both face time and imessage. Make sure they are both turned on.  Also, check restrictions in settings while you are there.  Somethingnmay have gotten scrambledmduring the upgrade.

    I'm using an iPhone 6 64gb.
    I recently bought my phone. HHowever I seem to find some difficulty with my iMessage and FaceTime activation.
    It keeps saying "waiting for activation" for both the iMessage and FaceTime.
    And when I tried signing in using my Apple ID, tthey said that I could not sign in, please check network connection and try again.
    I've tried the various tips given by some people, bit doesn't seem to work too.
    This include rebooting my phone, switching on and off the airplane mode during iMessage activation.
    Please help. I really need the iMessage especially.

    I was having the same problem on my iPad mini until just a few minutes ago. It kept telling me to check my network, which was working fine with all the other devices in my house. I recently noticed all my FB.posts weren't reflecting the proper time so I checked my Date and Time settings. Sure enough, it was wrong. I adjusted it to the correct time and time zone, logged back into iMessage and now it connects just fine.
