Why can't I use my headphone on my 2G Ipod Touch?

Everytime I put in my headphones I always have to twist the plug of my headphones to listen to music and if I bump it or touch it lightly I the sound will either go off or I would only be able to hear out of one ear bud. I have brought many headphones and the problem it still there. Do I have to buy a new ipod? Because my warranty is expired and they won't fix it. JUst why is this happening and it there a way to fix it?

Most likely the headphone jack is broken and so doesn't make good contact any longer. If your iPod is out of warranty, you either will have to pay Apple's exchange price for out-of-warranty iPods or search the web for a third-party repair service and see if one can repair the jack for less; searching for "iPod repair" should turn up several such companies.
Regards.

  • Can no longer use itunes to put music on ipod touch?

I have an iPhone that I have no issues when using the itunes macch, BUT my iPod Touch I do not want to always have to connect to wi-fi to use music, on a run for instance, when there is n wi-fi available.  I want to use iTunes like before wheree I connected it to iTunes and picked which music I wanted synced with the iPod and then the music was on there.  Right now all I can do is see an option to download the music t my ipod when connected to a wi-fi network.  I am on sattelite internet so I cna not going to use all my download allowance for something I already downloaded and just need to transfer.
Basically what I want to do is transfer whatever I want from Itunes to my iPod touch and then turn on iCloud for the rest that isn't on the iPod, so if I AM in a wi-fi area I can listen if I want, but if i am not in a wi-fi area I astill have some music that is on my iPod itself.
Please help! So annoying!! I love apple, but they need directions for these issues.
    Lyndsie

Yes you can use the music, but you cannot use the iTunes program to do it.
    So:
Find the music files on your computer.
Make sure the audio format(s) are compatible.  MP3 is a definite yes, but the iTunes favorite AAC is a maybe, and you will have to check what your player can handle.
Then, follow your player's instructions to copy the music to the player.  For many players this means to just connect it and drag the file icons into it.

  • Why can't I use the Column Browser for my iPod when connected to the computer?

In iTunes 11, I can use the Column Browser while viewing my music library on the computer.  But it's inexplicably not available for viewing the music on my iPod when it's connected to the computer to sync.
The Column Browser is the simplest, easiest, most elegant way for me to review what's on my iPod, and create Playlists from my music and CD books.  It was available in 10.7 and is available on the computer, why not the iPod????!!!???
Why mess around changing something that isn't broken - after all these years why can't that option still be available?  It doesn't have to be the default, just be available. Will I have to downgrade to 10.7 yet again????
And you don't even have a relevant category for me to choose from below!!  It makes sense to me that you provide a general "Using iTunes" category.

Thanks for your reply, but I've already done that and the Column Browser options are completely grayed out.  I've taken a screen shot and hope I can paste it in here.  You'll see I have the sidebar open.  That's the way I prefer to deal with iTunes.
This happened after I updated to iTunes 11.0.4.  Perhaps that changed the setting options. I think I had the Column Browser option prior to that, but I just got a new iPod and I was busy loading stuff, so not completely sure if it worked before the update.  But I think I would have noticed, because it bugs me so much not to have the option.

  • Not sure if this is a iCloud or Wi-fi issue. Why can't I put my new playlists onto my iPod Touch?

    Hello!
A month or so ago, I bought a new MacBook Pro for myself, an iMac for the wife, a 2TB TimeCapsule iCloud and  Music Match. The whole 9 yards. Since then, I have't been able to put new playlists onto my iPod Touch. When I plug it in and switch to the "Music" tab for the iPod, I get " iTunes Match is On. Brian's Newest iPod can access music in iCloud. Songs can be downloaded and played via Wi-Fi or a cellular network."
Well, no I can't. The reason I know this is because yesterday, I was given two brand new music CDs, which I uploaded onto the MacBook Pro. Made a new "AC/DC" playlist and everthing. And now I can't get this playlist or any new playlist onto my Pod. Looking for "AC/DC" under the "Artist" tab or "Back in Black" on my iPod does't work either.
This is Gawd-Awful annoying. I don't WANT to play everything from Wi-Fi or cellular network. (Don't need/want an iPhone-that shouldn't count again me, should it?) The whole point of buying a 32 GB iPod was because I am usually not on a network of any type during most of my day. How do I get the stinkin' music onto it?
Maybe I am missing the point of both iCloud and Music Match. I thought the second allowed me to download better versions of all the songs I have on my computers. (Was that payment a one-time thing or will I have to pony up each year, btw?) And iCloud meant that I could listen to any and all of my songs on anything with an Apple Logo on it via wi-fi. But is that the only way?
    Okay, done ranting now.
    Thanks.
    Brian

Nope, though it did allow me to get some missing songs back onto my iPod. That's something. But neither "Back in Black" or "Dirty Deeds" show up anywhere on the Touch. Could this be because iTunes has no deal with AC/DC?
Quite frankly, at this point, I'd really rather not have the "ease of use" of iCloud attached to the iPod. It's not like I change my playlists that much. It would just be nice to get what I want onto my MP3 player. Not sure which one it was: iCloud, Music Match or the Air Port but the only real result of all the $ I plunked down is seeing all of my Wife's 231 Christmas songs popping up on my laptop. Really don't want them here. She SURE AS **** is sick of seeing all of my stuff on her computer.
    Thanks again.

  • Why can't I download music for 90 days on iPod touch?

I tried to download music for my iPod touch but it said that it was already associated with an iTunes account. And that I have to wait for 90 days to download my purchases that I want to get again.

iTunes Store: Associating a device or computer to your Apple ID
"Once a device or computer is associated with your Apple ID, you cannot associate that device or computer with another Apple ID for 90 days. You can view which devices or computers are currently associated, remove unused devices or computers, and see how long before they can be associated with a different Apple ID from the Account Information page in iTunes on your computer:"

  • Why can't i update to 4.2 on my ipod touch

i have tried several times and keep getting the same error message

Sounds like there is a problem with the existing backup for your iPod Touch.
You can delete the current backup followed by trying to manually create a new backup to see if this resolves the backup problem.
Go to iTunes > Preferences. Under the Devices tab, select and delete the current backup for your iPod Touch.
Follow this by right-clicing on your iPod Touch under Devices in the iTunes source list. At the menu window that appears, select Back Up to create a new backup for your iPod Touch.
The backup does not include any iTunes content on your iPod Touch including all 3rd party apps. All iTunes content on your iPod Touch including all 3rd party apps should be in your iTunes library on your computer. All photos on your iPod Touch that were transferred from your computer are not included with the backup either. All photos transferred from your computer should remain on your computer.

  • Why can't I use fire-wire to sync my ipod?!?!

The system won't allow me to synch my ipod with fire wire!! Why!?! I just bought a super nice mac pro you would think they would let me step it from from SLOW USB!!!!!!!!

Firewire support was discontinued with the introduction of the the 5th Generation iPod and the iPod Nano so it hasn't been an option for quite a while now. Current iPods will charge over Firewire but they no longer sync using it. You can send your feedback on it's absence directly to Apple at this link: Apple Product Feedback

  • Why can't I download my itunes library to my iPod touch?

iTunes can detect my device and when I synch a 3 step process starts:  waiting synch to start, preparing to synch, changes applied and finish. Why won't my library download from iTunes to iPod?

Is there enough space on your ipod?
I've done the same as you; 'a 3 step process starts: waiting synch to start, preparing to synch, changes applied and finish' only to find the library hasn't downloaded...turned out my ipod was full and I wasn't being given any warning/info messages about it.

It's not jailbroke or anything but it says the terms and conditions have changed. When I agree, it says your session has times out. Try again. But it doesn't give me an option to try again and has a done button underneath it. I press done. The textplus app says "Waiting..." and is gray. What can I do to download this app?

iTunes has to contact Apple to send your agreement to the new conditions, but your security software has to allow this contact. If blocked, you'll get a time out message. Follow the instructions here to check your security software settings: iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues

  • Why can't I log in to my iTunes account (iPod Touch)? Whenever I put in the password it refreshes and keeps prompting me - it doesn't say it is incorrect, it just refreshes it.

I just bought an iTunes card and was eager to redeem it. My iPod prompted me to log in as usual, but when I put in the correct password it just kept prompting me again. I've tried putting in my password to log in but it won't allow me to get into my account, rather it just refreshes and prompts me, and I've been doing this about ten times before I gave up. My internet connection is fine and all else is running smoothly.
And no, it isn't the incorrect password. I have tried putting in an alternative password to check, before refreshing it said it was incorrect.
With the correct password it'll just keep prompting me over and over so I cannot get in. This is really annoying and I don't know what to do as this hasn't happened before.
If anyone knows what is going on please inform me.
(Also: I cannot sync my iPod into any computers at the moment. I lost the previous computer and if I synced it with the new one I would lose everything on it, and some information on there is dear to me such as photos and videos. That is if I had a choice - computers with iTunes don't seem to recognise it as an iPod device, rather a camera which I can't take anything off of.
This is another problem on its own, though.)

Have you tried going to Settings>iTunes and App Stores (or just Store) and signing out and then signing in again?

  • Why can't i tap the wifi button on my ipod touch 4g?

When i go to "Settings" the wifi button is greyed out and i can't tap it. Help me please!!

Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.
