Why can't I use the Width tool on lines I drew with the Paintbrush tool?

I have drawn a shape using the Paintbrush tool's new smooth fidelity with a 3 pt stroke. But when I go to use the Varible Width tool it want allow me to modify the line. what am I doing wrong? Is this even possible?

It would appear that apple has managed to p1ss off alot of ipad one users in one fowl swoop, what makes it worse is that fact we were the early adoptors who got asked, why do you want a big iphone for? and then spent time showing people how good it was! actually promoting it for apple! and then to get this kick in the teeth is frustrating! i wish i had known about xcode before!

clearly they were planning on releasing this update to us, otherwise on the spalsh screen it would have stated ipad 2 only, note in the sentence above it states it CLEARLY makes a reference to ipad 2 for airplay, so, whatever the problem, they can fix it and they know it works!

I just wanted to leave a note that it's working now. I'm not sure if it was the latest iTunes update that got it working or that i decided to start a new library instead of using the one i had backed up on Windows 8 (it didn't occur to me to check using the old library when i re-installed iTunes). But if anyone is having this problem, it might be worth trying again with a new installation of iTunes to see if the latest update works for you, and if not, try using a fresh library instead of a backup (by fresh library i mean discard your old library completely and start a new library, not just restore as new iPhone, a whole new library).

Why can't I use my new IPad to pay in stores with apple pay?

I want to know why it is not possible to use your ipad mini 3 or ipad air 2 to pay with apple pay in stores. Why can you only use apple pay online with ipads and with iphones you can use them for in store purchases and online purchases. I mean I guess how it makes sense to apple, sense most people wouldn't want to bring there ipad a long with them to pay, but for some people, especially if you have the latest ipad mini which is like a phablet anyways, I feel like it would be nice if you could use it to pay in store with apple pay.

We have no clue as to what Apple may come up with in future models, but for now the snazzy tap&go allure of ApplePay can only be done using an iPhone 6 or 6plus.
Purportedly the rest of the devices can do thru-the-web Apple Pay-ment, but that's not as sexy and not as widespread.

Can I wirelessly use a 430 EX II as a slave with the built in flash of the EOS T3i?

I have a Rebel EOS T3i. According to its manual, pp 191 ff, I can fire a remote speedlite wirelessly from the camera. I get an error message that the speedlite can't be found even though I have set up my speedlite 430 EX II according to its manual directions, pp25 ff. Thanks for your help

Yes - the 430EX II will function as a slave and the T3i (but not the T2i or earlier) can remotely trigger the speedlite.
It's a bit tricky and can be confusing.
First... set the 430EX II in the right mode. Press-and-HOLD the "Zoom" button for about 2 seconds or so. This activates a menu that lets you put the flash in either a single-fash mode vs. remote "slave" mode. Use half-circle buttons to toggle it to read "slave". Press the "set" button (in the middle of those half-circle shape buttons.) I don't happen to have my 430EX II handy, but it should default to Slave "A" and Channel "1".
Now for the camera.
On your camera menu, the left-most tab (which we'll call "Red Camera #1" to distinguish it from other tabs) has the "Flash Control" as the last option on that screen. Incidentally for cameras with a built-in popup flash, the menu is labeled "Flash Control". For cameras that do NOT have built-in pop-up flash, that same menu is called "External speedlite control".
On that sub-menu (Flash Control), make sure "Flash Firing" (the top option) is set to "Enable" or "CustWireless" -- it must NOT be set to "disable" or nothing will work.
You will see a menu options for "External Flash func. setting" (and also "External flash C.Fn setting".) IGNORE THESE! These are ONLY for flashes which are in the camera hot-shoe and do NOT control wireless remote flashes. This is likely where you were getting confused.
Next go to "Built-in flash func. settings" where, ironically, you get to control how your camera communicates with your REMOTE flash (yes, I realize that's not the most intuitive place to put it.) It turns out that it's your INTERNAL flash that is responsible for communicate with any REMOTE slave flashes. The optical wireless actually uses visible light (a lot of people presume it's an infrared communication -- myself included -- I ultimately learned that was incorrect and it is actually the visible light of the flash itself. It sends out communication to the remote by rapidly pulsing codes to tell the remote flash what to do. All this happens before the image is exposed and you'd swear the flash only blinked once... but it turns out it's actually quite busy pulsing away to communicate.)
In the "Built-in flash func. settings" menu there are a number of things you need to set.
If you set the Built-in flash mode to "EasyWireless" it will gray out many other settings... basically the camera will automatically decide what it wants to do. I think the only setting not gray is the channel number (which needs to match the channel number on your flash. The purpose of channel numbers is to allow you to shoot at events where other photographers are also using wireless flash and not have conflicts where they're triggering your flashes and vice versa.
If you set the Built-in flash mode to "CustWireless" it allows you to set many other options. CustWireless offers the most control. It is ultimately probably the mode you'll use the most once you get used to remote speedlites.
In CustWireless mode, the "Wireless Func." menu option becomes available. This option lets you decide if you want (I'm taking these out of order for simplicity of explaining):
a) both internal and external speedlites to fire as one group (external flash icon, a PLUS sign (+) and the on-camera icon)
b) both internal and external speedlites to fire but allowing you to control the power RATIO (external flash icon, a COLON symbol ( and the on-camera icon means "ratios" can be customized.)
c) only external speedlites (only the external flash icon is on that option - no on-camera icon.)
I want to mention something about that external-only option because it confuses most people at first. The camera communicates with the slave via the on-camera flash. The on-camera flash pulses rapidly to send instructions to the remote flash units. This means that in order to use slave-flashes, the on-camera flash must be raised (in the popped-up position). If you ask for external flash only (no on-camera) the on-camera flash will only pulse instructions BEFORE the camera shutter opens to take the exposure. When I first started learning about external speedlites, I saw the on-camera flash fire and thought my settings were being ignored. Not to worry... when you check your images you will see that there was no light provided by the on-camera flash DURING the exposure... all that flashing happens before the shutter opens. Everything happens so fast that you'd swear all the flashes only fired once... but in reality they actually do a lot of "talking" before taking the picture but this happens incredibly fast.
And one last comment... since the camera communicates via the optical (visible light) flash to talk to the remotes, it is important the the lower-body of your 430EX II can "see" the flash on the camera. In small rooms it doesn't really matter where the lower-body is pointed... it'll notice the pulses of light from the on-camera flash. But in large rooms or outdoors the lower-body of your 430EX II (where the receiver is located) wont get any reflection from walls, etc. In these situations, just rotate the lower body of the 430EX II so that it is facing the on-camera flash. You can then swivel the head of the 430EX II to point wherever you need it. The 430EX II will fire even in full daylight as long as it can "see" that on-camera flash.

Why can't I search/find text I added in a PDF with the TouchUp Text tool in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9/X?

If I use the TouchUp Text tool in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9/X to modify a text, the program can't find the added/changed text. But when I just delete letters/words in the text, the rest/changed words can be found. Is that a known problem? Is there any fix or workaround?

Why can't I use Airplay/Bluetooth audio output and Guitar input at the same time?

Just trying to understand why it is not possible to use one of the 3rd party guitar input devices and have AirPlay/Bluetooth output turned on at the same time. it would be very nice to be able to play wirelessely to the stereo instead of adding yet another cable to the mix.

Why can't I use my Adobe ID if I have to reinstall the digital reader?

I already have an Adobe ID. I had to reinstall the Digital Reader and it will not authorize using my Adobe ID because it says another computor is already using that ID. It is the same computor it is only that I had to reinstall the program.

I've changed my apple ID on one device but didn't for the other. I now can no longer use that device because it keeps coming up with the 'sign in to iCloud' box, but as that id no longer exist it wont allow me to type in the password. HELP?!

My wifi hotspot on my iPad can't be used. Does it have something to do with the device?

I try to use my iPad hotspot on my android device. I managed to connect to it once using wifi hotspot. And now, everytime I try to reconnect. It won't work.

1: Backup your user files folders of Documents, Music, Pictures etc., to a external powered drive (not TimeMachine) and disconnect.
2: Insert the 10.6 installer disk and reboot holding c
3: Simply reinstall OS X without erasing the drive, it will overwrite the installed version of OS X and the root level software, but leave your Applications folder contents (expect Apple bundled programs) and user files alone. (but backup anyway in case it fails)
4: Reboot and the Integro is gone out of your system, but there may still be something laying around in Applicaitons to delete. Use Software Update to get up to date.
5: You don't need anti-virus on a Mac, Apple provides it already for you sight unseen.
6: If you Software update, the bad certificate issues are pulled, thus are not a threat.

Why can't I view VAForm 10-10ez on my iPad, even with the current version of Adobe Acrobat?

That form was created with LiveCycle Designer, so it's an XFA form. XFA forms are generally not supported by PDF viewers on mobile devices. Some will support static XFA forms, but I don't know any that support dynamic XFAs. Readdle's PDF Expert has some support for static XFAs like the form you're trying to use, but it's not free like Adobe Reader. The support is not complete, so some things may not work as intended.
If you have access to a Windows or Mac (OSX) machine, the form will work with Adobe Reader.

Why can't I use the Basic brush tool?

I'm learning the ropes of drawing in Illustrator and I've fallen at the first hurdle. Why can't I use the Basic brush tool? Whenever I select the brush tool and use the 'Basic' brush type, the cursor turns into a hashed circle indicating I can't draw. If I load other brushes, I can draw with other brush types, but I can't use the Basic one. If I select the Basic brush when I have other brushes loaded and try to draw with it, it always defaults to a different brush! I don't understand why.
On a related matter, I'm also having trouble changing brush size. I know that using the [ and ] keys changes brush size, but I have no idea what the values are. If I try this in Photoshop, I can see the brush size in the Options bar, but in Illustrator it doesn't appear anywhere! Not in the Brushes palette, the Stroke palette or the Appearance palette. Where can I see the brush size?

The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.
