Why can't I view my photos on Apple TV?

I am set up to stream photos from iPhoto to my Apple TV. When I go to the Photos area, I see a thumbnail "preview" of my photo, but when I try to go to an album and view the photos, I get an error that says "Apple TV cannot play the current song".
This ins't a song! It's a .jpg. What's going on?

Welcome to the  Discussion Forums.
Photos can of course be streamed from a streaming only (or secondary library).
Your issue sounds unusual and clearly there is something wrong. Can you see any of your photos. Do you have music selected to play with the photos that may be causing an issue. Have you tried restarting your tv.

iCloud services merely "push" your Phto Stream files to enabled devices.
You can't view your photos at iCloud.com.

    Hello Andra,
It sounds like you are not able to access the iTunes and App Stores on your iPod touch.  I found an article with steps you can take to address issues like this.  The steps in this article address both the iTunes and App Stores:
Can't connect to the iTunes Store

  • Why can't I view my photos when I log into my iCloud account?

Why can't I see my photos on iCloud when I have Photo stream activated on my IPhone and computer

Because photo stream is a sync service, it is not a storage service where you can post gallaries and view photos directly in icloud.com.
It's only used for syncing photos between devices and computers.

  • Why can't i view my photos and videos in landscape mode?

Can somebody please tell me why my videos and photos dont switch over to landscape mode when i flip my phone over? I used to also be able to that with my email and text. What's going on?

Do you have rotation lock on?
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and tap the lock icon on the top right.

  • Why can't i view my photos in iPhoto after a time machine restore?

    Hi,
I've just had to restore my entire system after a hard drive replacement.
Returned all my music, photos, documents etc back into the computer but none of my photos are in iphoto.
Why is this and how do i correct it?
    Thanks.

Scavenge the library with iPhoto Library Manager independently of iPhoto (File ▹ Rebuild). Books, calendars, and slideshows won't be preserved.

  • Why can't I view my photos?

I have been using iPhoto for many years, but since upgrading to Leopard I can't see my iPhoto pictures. I see the icon in the Finder - it's 3.04 Gb - but in IPhoto there are no pictures. What's going on?

    Pat:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Run the three fixes below in order as needed:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select all options.
2 - rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: It may take some time to create the new library if you have a lot of photos.
3 - start over with a new library and import the Originals folder from your original library as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the Events from the original library.
    1. Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
    2. Open the library package like this.
    3. Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    4. Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library if you have the Finder checkbox unchecked in the Events preference pane.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Why can't I view my photos on my iphone 4s

When I take pictures with my iphone 4s they do not show up under photos.  When I try and open photos it just shuts down.  When I click the tab on the bottom left of the Camera application that shows the picture I just took, It takes me to photos, but shows that I have none.  What do I need to do?  I am connected to photostream and the photos I take on my phone do show up on my iPad2, but not on my phone.  Any suggestions would be helpful

I restored my phone as a New Device through my itunes account and this solved the photo app crashing problem.

  • Why can't I view this on my Apple TV?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4As0e4de-rI
But I can play it normally on my iMac...

There has long been a feeling that AppleTV YouTube feeds differ from the standard ones, and it can take a while for newer content to get 'converted'.
I can't see it in Safari even as it tells me i'm in the wrong country !

    You did something wrong
Seriously if you want help you need to give some information
    What happens?
Did you restore the iPhoto library as a single entity?
What did you do and how?

  • Why can't i view on iCloud what is on my lost iPhones? i can see how much GB's they are taking up but can't click on the data to see what it is..

Why can't I view my icloud backups on a new apple device using the same icloud id? Unluckily I lost 4 iphones in 2 yrs. all had same icloud acct on them, so when i log on to locate my current iphone on my macbook or on new iphone, it shows a list of all the lost iphones and their data take up.
When i click on settings on my ios> go to icloud > storage & backup> manage storage:
LOST IPHONE 1- 4.5 GB  DOCUMENTS & DATA : it shows PREVIEW 1.2 MB PAGES1.6 MB TEXT EDIT91.6 KB PHOTOS 3.2 GB
LOST IPHONE 2- 3.2 GB  DOCUMENTS & DATA: it shows same thing just different gb's mb's kb's
    LOST IPHONE 3- etc.......
but you can't click on those documents & data to show what exactly they are so you can move them or save and delete. If I go into icloud there's nothing there from that long ago. is that data deleted? if i were to get that certain iphone back and turn it on would the pics, docs still be in icloud? it says all that room in my icloud is still taken up so where can i view it?? anyone know??
                            THANK YOU!

If you haven't already, you could force-quit Quicktime by using the menu option from the desktop (finder) and choose Quicktime.
Not sure what you have frozen on the screen, be it a failed movie, or some unusual screen shot. If you can find by date (created) you may be able to look for .mov or quicktime suffix name or other video file content to delete it.
And you may have to restart your computer and perhaps run repair disk permissions from Disk Utility's first aid on the hard disk drive in your computer.
Not sure if all that would help now, but it is something a few days late...!
    Good luck & happy computing!

Why Can't I see my photos in my icloud account?

Because there is no iCloud photo viewer.  You need to move them to your computer or your iOS device to view them.  Photo stream is just a mechanism to share photo's across multiple devices - it is not an online permanent storage, nor an online viewer feature.
Photo stream storage space is not even part of your personal iCloud account - it is separate, intended for temporary (max. 30 days) storage of photos solely to allow you to copy them onto other devices.
