Why can't iPhone 4 users upgrade their Siri in AppStore

I have had and used Siri that I downloaded to my iPhone 4 over a year ago and I don't appreciate that Apple expects me to pay $200 basically just to keep my app functionality with a few improvements to the former app. I would even pay for the Siri app that is not equal to what's on the iPhone 4S. Apple should look into this. More profit opportunity for those not ready, able, or willing to upgrade to the 4S.

Thanks for your quick response. I found some other responses too in other posts that confirmed what I thought. Apple purchased Siri and integrated into the 4S phone. It's a great deal for Siri and Apple. Good business decision. However it would have been nice to keep some level of function in the stand alone app. Also the new chip is not the factor for the application though it likely speeds it's operation up.

CREATE A NEW USER
Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Users & Groups
Decide on whether to setup as Admin or Standard User.
Switch to the New User by logging out under the Apple in the Menu Bar or use Fast User Switching
Fast User Switching allows other users to leave current applications and windows open. Depending on RAM, you might need to log out rather than use FUS.

They can, but not at the same time.
If one user left iTunes running, and another user tries to use iTunes from a different Windows user ID, that second user will get an error message. If they really want to use iTunes, they either have to beg the first user to log in and close iTunes, or else they have to restart the computer.
If you are asking the technical reason why, it is something about context switching.

Why can't Apple ever get upgrades right?

More a vent than anything else, but feel free to jump in.
I tried upgrading to iOS 5 tonight, and like every single other uprgade on every single apple device I own and there are a few, it fails. It fails for some just plain stupid reasons that I as an old IT guy just don't understand. To wit:
- Why does the upgrade have to talk to an upgrade server to verify things so often?
Once to verify the checksum on the upgrade file, once after it's applied. The system should never need to call back after that, everything (restore of files, apps etc) should be handled locally. No reason for Apple to verify them, in fact I should be able to do the enotre procedure offline.
- Why can I not download the upgrade on any install of iTunes vs just one?
It's upgrading, not adding or removing anything, so why do I have to clog up a system all night because the family iDevices were all connected here? But that's a whole other issue that's been flogged to death here.
- Why can't we download the files and upgrade the devices offline? See the above question as well.
I'm guessing that given the poor communication with apple's systems and the beating they're probably taking tonight with the verification traffic, someone's got to be thinking about this?
- Why does EVERY change want to delete everything on the device?
So stupid, not even going there. I have to delete eveything on my iPod to add ONE book? Really?
I keep hoping that some time they'll get it right, but now that Steve is gone (RIP good sir) I'm guessing not so much....

Even if you update a Microsoft product it too has to be verified by the host as a legitimate program that can be signed off as genuine. Things happen, though Apple's upgrading is far better than others. Getting frustrated with it only makes things worse as you can do things without knowing you clicked the wrong button or forgot to press a button.

I was offered an update to Flash Player. Downloaded it but then was told I had to agree to the licensing agreement but it will not show me the agreement except for a few lines of it. I don't know what (exactly) your problem is, or what Microsoft has to do with it, but did you click the little checkbox left of "I have read and agree..."?

Why can't Apple & At&t get their info straight?!?!?

So I got the 16GB model of the iPhone 3Gs directly through at&t via the online store. I decided that I wanted to upgrade to the 32GB model. Within the past two days I've gotten ALL these answers by both parties
1)Apple says I can't exchange the phone at their store, I have to go through AT&T
2)AT&T says I can't exchange with at&t, I have to do it at the apple store.
3)At&t says I have to do it at an AT&T retail store
4)At&t says I have to return it in the mail and wait for another iPhone 32GB to get sent to me.... Leaving me without a phone for DAYS.
*** is wrong with everyone?!?!?!?! Can't anyone get their facts straight. I've wasted HOURS of time waiting in line at the Apple store and going to the AT&T store. Why can't I just simply RETURN my 16GB model and pay an extra $100 for the 32GB?!?!?!?! What's the f'in problem?!?!?!

From my experience, it makes more sense to buy direct from an Apple store. I drove an hour to get to my closet Apple store to avoid this stuff. I've read to many horror stories on this topic.

We tried to return the week 21 phone to the Santa Monica apple store, but the genius said because we bought it from AT&T we had to return it to AT&T; he said Apple will not replace any phones purchased from AT&T. Only looking at the icons on the black home screen, he said the phone looked just fine and meets Apple's specifications. We didn't bother arguing with him, the guy was not going to help us.
We called AT&T and they said that's not true, Apple handles all returns. AT&T transferred the call to Apple, and sure enough Apple replaced the phone, even though this phone was ordered on-line at AT&T and shipped by AT&T originally.

Apple have to find data sources and licensing for this eventually for the whole world, and it's going to take a while. At the moment, only USA is covered.

Why can't iPhones send picture texts???

Most new cell phones can send picture text messages. If the iPhone is so up-to-date, why can't picture messages be sent or received?

mms should have never been replaced... My Nokia N96 is also a smart phone and it has email capabilities as well... and have u ever sent and or received a picture using email from the iphone, The iphone has so much more crap to scroll down b4 you finally get to the picture and not to mention its not as fast as mms also it has more hang ups and errors .... Maybe apple should re-evaluate and add the mms option because I for one will only use my iphone for the cool apps but for everything else my Nokia N96 is much faster and more practical for text and mms messages

I tried to upgrade to iOS 5 so I could move my MobileMe account to iCloud. Lost my calendar, didn't upgrade, and no iCloud appeared in my settings. Can my 3G phone be upgraded to iOS 5? If not how do I get my MobileMe account to sync with my iPhone again?

Got a refurbished 4S from VZ for my wife. Settings icon showed one alert, and saw it was to upgrade the software to iOs 8.x. But the phone says there is not enough memory. Right out of the package, I cannot upgrade the operating system. Is there a problem with this phone?

So, I would have to find some way to eliminate some of the Apple-supplied applications to free up storage. Is the upgrade to iOs 8.x really worth the effort?

My apps won't update on my iPod touch 4g. I would press update and it would say installing but then went back to saying update. Since it wouldn't work, I upgraded my software to the 6.1 and it still does the same thing. I reset it w the home button & power button but its still doing the same thing. What do I do?

I appreciate the info, however this problem exists not only on the devices, but also directly within iTunes. We are unable to download any previously purchased apps, app upgrades, etc. from within iTunes. iTunes returns an error of (11111). This is in addition to all of our iDevices simultaneously ceasing to download previously purchased apps, upgrades, etc. At this point, we've eliminated the possibility of it being device specific (in my case alone, this started happening on 2 iPhones, 2 iPod Touch 4G and an iPad 2 simultaneously) or account specific (I'll post links to the other current threads here addressing the same problem). It appears to be a failure of the actual iTunes store and the iOS App Store.

Again, I really do appreciate your help, but I don't want to put anyone else involved in this thread through the task of backing up and restoring if it isn't going to have any impact on the problem - especially if they, too, are running older iOS for one reason or another and suddenly find they can't restore to their previous iOS as they do this.

Is there a way I can prevent my users from resetting their iPad back to factory settings thru the SETTINGS icon > reset. Ideally I would like to password protect the SETTINGS icon/section. What are my chances? Can this type of stuff be written as an app? Cheers

Obviously, you live in the Windows world. Seriously, don't worry about it. Even if they do so, it's kind of easy to restore. Just tell them not to do it. Most people are pretty mature about these things. And yes, I know what I'm talking about, I ran a company where we gave out Tablet PC's to sales reps to take orders. No one messed them up.

Apple really needs to let iPhone 4S users upgrade to the iPhone 5 instead of buying a whole new phone. Apple should just make a small fee of $50 or so.

Standalone, i.e. perpetual license version? In which case click on the "Products" link at the very bottom of the adobe.com home page, you'll then see Lightroom on the list. Click on "Buy", then you have the option to buy a "Full" license, but if you're upgrading then click on the "Full" drop-down arrow and select "Upgrade".
Existing CC subscriber? Logout of the CC desktop app, log back in again, you should then see the update options.
