Why can't my Apple TV connect to the internet?

My Apple TV was working fine earlier, but today it I am getting the message "Your TV cannot connect to the internet". I have tried resetting it, restoring it, it can find the network in Settings and says the signal is strong, it accepts my password - but won't connect! What is the problem?

Hi from Perth. I am getting exactly the same problem. I've been using Apple TV for six months, updated software a couple of times, no problem, but suddenly today, it can't see the Internet any more. I've rebooted everything. Reset settings, pulled out plugs, no dice. I've made no changes whatsoever to any part of the setup.

I suddenly can no longer connect to the Internet through my AirPort Extreme. Everything was fine until this morning. My Base Station is connected to a DSL modem and then my computer connects to the Internet wirelessly through the Base Station. The center light is on in the Base Station. The left light flickers telling me there is wireless activity. I can still access my printer through the Base Station. But the right light is no longer flickering. I have rebooted everything several times. Does anyone have insight into this problem. This is the second time this has happened. For over a month I could not access the Internet through the Base Station, and then suddenly and arbitrarily it started working again. This morning it just stopped again.

I've had the same problem - mine started after I upgraded to 10.4.8 on my MacBook a week or so ago.
I can see other networks around my home and when I travel, but can only connect via ethernet cable (and my ISP is comcast - I thought the upgrade was supposed to help make connecting with comcast better).
My G3 has no problem connecting, so I don't think it's exactly a problem with my modem, or base station, or even comcast. I think it has something to do with my base station and upgrading to 10.4.8. Btw, dropping back to 10.4.6 hasn't helped.

Hi, I'm having trouble connecting my ipod touch to the internet. I put in the correct password, but the checkmark doesn't show, yet the signal waves/bars, so I try to use safari, and it tells me "Safari cannot connect to the page because it is not connected to the internet." It only worked one random day, and then the next it was back to the same thing -_- Plus the signal bars come, and go evey few seconds. Please help! Thanks

You have an Airport Extreme base station that is set to "Create a wireless network" and you have the box checked for "allow this network to be extended"....
Then you have an Airport Express that is set to "Extend a wireless network" which you selected the name of your network in the box...

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. Went from wrt 310n to 610n now i can't get it to connect to the internet.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had this problem. I changed my router from an old linksys wireless G speedboost to the wrt 310n. The setup disc was wonderful and I had no problems at all. What surprised me was that the setup disc knew I had a router and guided about changing the router.. Everything went well and I had no problems for a day. Then I saw the dual band 610n wireless n. So I took out the wrt 310n and exchanged it for the 610n. During the setup disc which looked almost similar to the 310n one, I encountered a slight problem. It states that I don't have an internet connection. I rebooted everything and still does not work. I'm connected to the network but no internet connection. My computer gets an IP address of 192.168.1.100. I checked my username and password because I'm using a PPPOE DSL connection. I hooked up my modem directly to the computer and I got an internet connectoin. So I did the setup disc. When it was time to switch to the router, it still does not pick up an internet connection. Any tips in solving this? Is my stuff defective?

Thanks for responding. I tried that method and it didn't work for me. Also, I need the MTU to be above 1400 for online play. This guy says the solution is to change the router's address to 192.168.2.1. Ok I'm confused, but why does changing the router's address seem to work for some people. I'm gonna try this when I get home from work later. But can anyone tell me why changing the router's address may be the answer to get this router to connect to the internet? Has this solution worked for anyone else that was having the same problem. Also, why isn't this implemented in wrt610n, but all the router versions before it seems to be fine? (WRT310N, WRTGS, etc.) You would think the wrt610n is almost like the top of the line router you can get for your home that they would have implemented this in the setup disc or the router. For it being Dual band maybe? Who knows, this is a mystery to me.

Apple Mails connection to the Internet

Sometimes I get an email with a link in it to connect to the internet. I am using Apple Mail. It connects to Internet Explorer 5 which we all know doesn't work too good anymore.
How/where do I change the Apple Mail preference to connect to the internet with a different browser?

The default browser is a system-wide setting, not specific to Mail. It can be changed in Safari > Preferences > General > Default Web Browser.

Why won't my Macbook pro connect to the internet, yet my desktop PC will?

My 13 inch Macbook Pro was purchased back in March of this year, but recently I've been unable to connect to the internet. Within the network settings it says that my Airport is on and has a self assigned IP and that both the ethernet and firewire are not connected. Yet when on my desktop PC, everything seems to be working fine. I've concluded that it couldn't be my router, at least I'm pretty confident it's not.
I've tried the usual reboot, unplug router routine but it still won't budge.
Please help!

Why can NOT my apple TV connect to itune store after I upgraded it to ios 5.1(5201)?

I am in Singapore, and own this apple tv for a few days and everything were alway ok.
Today, I upgraded the ios to version 5.1(5201). After the upgrade process was done, the apple tv can not login to itune store.
I am a software engineer. I confirm that the network setting are fine and the username and password are correct, so I doubt it is server's problem.
Even when I "reset all setting", I can not activate my Apple TV.
Even more, I try to click "update software", and it said "it is unsuccessful ...". I remembered that it should inform me "the version is newest" before I "reset all setting".
So, I doubt it is because before the server serving Singapore has some problem now.
However, now I can not choose location to US or others, because after I upgraded, the location selection box is empty.
So, I have no idea.........

Are you connected to the wi fi, or celular ?
Try logging out and in from your apple id.
Reset all settings. Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings.

Why won't my iPhone 5c connect to the internet without wi-fi?

This is so strange, but I can't use my iPhone 5c apps when I'm not connected to wifi. This makes no sense because I have a data plan. It's not unlimited, but I've already checked with my carrier, and my data for the month has barely been used. The internet simply doesn't work without wi-fi. I've tried everything short of restoring the phone to its factory settings. I've done a hard reset by pressing the home and power buttons at the same time, powered the phone off and on several times. I've tried resetting the network settings. Nothing has worked. On wi-fi, my phone will work just fine. I can connect to all my apps and the internet. But on LTE or 3G, I can't even send an iMessage.
I really don't want to have to head into the Apple store and get a new phone, but I will if no one can figure out what's wrong. I'm about to try a full restore to factory settings after backing everything up to my computer. So we'll see how it goes.

I would check under settings < cellular that everything is turned on (or at least for the apps you want to use cellular data)
But with having mulitiple issue on cell data, it sounds like a possible issue the carrier would want to address. '

Why won't my Power Book connect to the internet via Airport (AEBS) ?

Since getting a new Broadband provider and ADSL modem (before I had cable modem which worked perfectly) which is cabled up to my EMAC (with Airport card) I cannot connect my Power Book to the internet ? I have reconfigured and hopefully set the preferences correctly on both computers i.e. Personal Web sharing- On, Internet sharing -On etc.
I can send files between the two computers and they connect to my network fine, but the Power Book cannot get the internet. Can anyone please help ?

Personal Web Sharing is not necessary.
I believe VickyMC is using her eMac to share the Internet account to her PowerBook. She has Personal Web Sharing enabled so that the ports are opened to allow access through the eMac to the Internet.

If you are in a wi-fi only area, then you need to join a wi-fi network. Does your office have wi-fi? Has the Admin given you the iformation to join the wi-fi network?
To join a wi-fi network...
1. Go to Settings/Wi-Fi
2. Tap Other...
3. Enter the name of your wi-fi network
4 Tap Security
5. Tap the type of security the network uses and return to Wi-Fi
6. Enter the password and tap Join

Why won't my macbook air connect to the internet?

I recently arrived at my relatives house and connected to their guest internet via password. I opened network preferences, selected the network, and it connected. Then when I went to google chrome and safari, I was sent to a page where a login password was required. I entered this password and surfed the internet until mid day. Then this evening I went to log on to the internet and my macbook air wouldn't bring up the log in page like it had earlier this morning and yesterday evening. My iPod touch connects just fine, and so do the windows computers in the house. There is a three-device limit for the guest internet, but currently there is only one computer on it. I tried restarting my macbook several times, I deleted the account from the list of frequently accessed wifi spots, but nothing seems to work. Help please! And nothing too technical, I'm not really too computer savvy. Thanks.

I recently had a similar problem. I tried many solutions that others propsed.
My particular solution, I "looked" into my Westell router and found its IP address. Seeing the other 5 devices (all were working on the internet), I saw how the ending number of the address identified the particular device on the router. I went to the System Preferences on the MacBook Air, opened up Network, chose Advanced and went to the tab TCP/IP and then in the Configure IPv4 address pull down used the manual DHCP and entered a new number that was 12 higher than another computer.
Example 192.168.200.1 was router, another computer was 192.168.200.68 and I gave the Air .80 as the last number. It worked!
I don't know what will happen when I return to my usual home network where it was working as well as on others.
