Why can't my ipod shuffle restore?

When I connect my ipod to my computer, it says it needs to restore. When I select "restore", it says an error occurred and it cannot restore. Help!

Hi,
Thank you for helping me.  There was no Ipod shuffle community in the menu so I went for Ipod Touch, sorry about that.  In the end I ejected my Ipod Shuffle through my lap top, it works fine.  When I clicked on the eject button I got a message that the device was being used by antoher device or something like that.
To use my new Ipod shuffle I had to restore the original settings and was able to build a playlist for the gym, that's all I need!  Originally I wanted to use the voice over feature, I wanted my playlists from my Ipod nano to sync up to my new Apple device but that didn't work so...  I am not a techie and having to reinstall, restore and the like irritates me.
Thank you for trying to help me.

  • HT201269 Why can't my ipod shuffle be ejected from Itunes?

This is the last problem I am having with my Apple product.  This is a brand new Ipod shuffle, to replace my first Ipod which broke, I have had so many problems getting it to work.  Among other things I got error messages and had to reinstall ITunes which I couldn't do but finally succeeded after visiting this community.  I am very annoyed right now.  I need help!  Must be a simple thing.  I just want to get to the gym!!!

My 4th Gen iPod Nano isn't displaying a "Use iTunes to restore" message, but iTunes is displaying a restore message when I connect it. I have original music that I can't back up on my iPod. Is there any way that I can fix the iPod without restoring it?

It's not designed to work like this. When you sync, the iPod stores some information that basically says 'this iPod belongs to computer xyz'. Apple did this to prevent copyright issues (syncing someone else's music).
If you really want to do this, you'll have to at least tie both iTunes installations to the same account. Maybe have them sync with each other.

  • Why can't I select shuffle slide order in my settings?

Why can't I select shuffle slide order in my settings. . . I see it there as an option, but it won't let me choose it.  I don't want to manually shuffle 329 slides!

It's only available in slideshow that are generated from a album.  There you can select the Shuffle checkbox.  You can also save the settings for that specific album to be used on any set of photos that you might put in there.  Name the album something like Slideshow and reuse it.  Just remove the last batch of photos from it and add the new ones.  That will save you having to set all of the settings each time or just one setting like music.

At the top of the messages is Load Earlier Message, if they're not there they're gone. That's why mail has to be deleted twice.

Why won't my ipod shuffle charge in a portable USB charger?

Does the wall charger successfully charged other devices like iPad, iPhones?
There are some complaints,  that the 10W iPad wall charger does not charge iPod Classic, as it is too high power, Claasic need 1Amp max, but the iPad Charger gives 2 Amp.

  • HT1293 Can a 1GB IPod Shuffle (model A1204 - probably 1st Gen) be made to work with a 64 bit computer?

Can a 1GB IPod Shuffle (model A1204 - probably 1st Gen) be made to work with a 64 bit computer?  I have never used this IPod which I receivede as a gift in 2008.

I have been trying to get somewhere with this Internet Security Suite...and now have come to the conclusion this is not going to work.  Now running Vista 64 bit, and have gotten nothing but the run around to try to complete the downloading of the program.  I've contacted Verizon Tech Support...then tell me that this works with the 64 bit but I need to contact Windows as there is a glitch and they give you the steps to get thru it.  Windows advises me to contact Verizon again as there are no problems with the OS.  Also have contacted Radialpoint and once again nothing...Obviously the Secuirty is not compatible with Vista 64 bit yet, which I just can't believe like you said...it's not like it was just yesterday this OS came out.  My frusteration comes from nobody steps up to take any responsibility as to what the problem is.  If it is not compatible yet then say so and not waste my whole weekend trying to get a straight answer.  I have other computers that I am currently using the service on and do like the program, but as for my Vista 64 bit looks like I may go to Macafee for protection.  It just amazes me as big as Verizon is and as popular this Vista has become they are not on the ball in keeping up with technology.

can i operate ipod shuffle 3rd generation green without headphones

You need headphones with compatible remote control buttons, which may be hard to find.  Even the current Apple EarPod headphones do not have buttons that are compatible.
As an alternative, you can get an adapter with the buttons, and connect ANY standard headphones.  Here's an example

  • Ipod Shuffle Restore problem

I was trying to add songs to my ipod shuffle today. but it told me to restore it as it is currupt; and so I did. However, when I clicked restore on itunes 7.0.2, the progress bar began to move; but i waited for over 2 hours, and it still didnt complete.
I could still listen to the music on my ipod as well as carry everyday tasks with it. But my computer refused to restore it.
p.s. it didnt show the ipod in windows explorer nor in itunes, only in device manager. I fixed this by using the "Safetly Remove Hardware" tool, then replugging it in.
Also when using the ipod software to update my ipod, it crashed.
I'd suspect it as an usb fault, but im not sure.
Please help me solve this problem, thanks in advance!

after my 20G crashed a co worker loaned me his shuffle to hold me over until I made a new purchase. It seems like every time you upgrade in ITunes it creates problems. I have experienced mutiple problems with this guys Shuffle (corrupt messages, Ipod not recognized in USB). After several restores on another PC I was able to load my music again only to not have all the songs play on the shuffle. When docked, I can see them but they won't play. I have restored, deleted, reloaded everything. I don't know what else to do.
The problem seems to be with purchased songs only.
I find the docking to a new pc helps with the restoring issue. Once back to the factory settings, try docking to pc with Itunes library and see what happens.
If anyone can weigh in on my issue, I would appreciate the help.
I can't live without my music!!

  • Why Won't My iPod Shuffle Reboot?

When I put in the installation CD it said I needed to format my iPod, so I did. Then it rebooted my iPod, and still hasn't stopped. It started last night.
This is the second time I've tried. The first time I stopped it after an hour, but this time it's been running almost 12 and still won't finish...
    Please help!

I would recommend restoring your shuffle to the factory condition, and seeing if this helps. You can do this with the restore utility that can be downloaded from the apple website. I presume you have the older white "chewing gum" pack shaped white-colored shuffle rather than the new 2G Shuffle (square in shape; aluminium finish)?

  • Why isn't my ipod shuffle not showing up in my devices, or my desktop?

I received my ipod shuffle (2nd gen) app. 2 years ago, however, this is the first time that I have ever tried to sync my current itunes library onto it. I connected the shuffle with a USB chord, but, the shuffle does not show up in "devices", nor on my desk top like my other ipod does. When it is plugged into the chord, the light flashes orange. I think that orange flashing means that it is "syncing music", however, there is no signs of the shuffle being connected to my Apple Mac in anyway. I have tried rebooting the computer, as well as turning my shuffle on and off. However, nothing has helped it. I have watched videos reviewing "fake shuffles" and I am confident that mine is not a fake. Please help me! Thanks!

I'm having the same problem.  I'm using a new shuffle usb cable in my 2nd generation shuffle and nothing shows up on computer.  I'm wondering if the dock for the second gen is different than the new usb cable direct into the 2nd gen shuffle. I don't have a dock for it.  Before I buy one on ebay I hope someone can assist.

  • Why isn't my iPod Shuffle (Generation 2) showing up or being recognized on my [Hewlett Packard] PC running Windows 8?

When I connect the iPod Shuffle to the computer via USB port, the light blinks orange 3 times, then green for half a second, and is recognized as a drive at first.  But then the green light turns off and is no longer recognized as a device (device disappears).  ***? I'm just frustrated because I've done almost everything I could think of, including watching several hours of YouTube "how-tos".  Grrrr.  Help, someone

It's supposed to initially sync with iTunes (iPod's storage is mounted at first).  Then iTunes dismounts the iPod's storage, until it needs to sync again (such as when you load music).  To keep the iPod's storage mounted continously, you can set it to Enable disk use, on the iPod's Settings tab in iTunes.
But you are saying it does not appear in iTunes at all when it is connected?  The latest version of iTunes may have the sidebar (on left side) hidden, which is where the shuffle appears (under DEVICES).  If the sidebar is hidden, you can show it by going to the menu bar, under View, and selecting Show Sidebar.
After doing that, the shuffle does not appear under DEVICES in the sidebar?
If it does not appear in iTunes, make sure you have shut down and restarted your PC, if you have not since this problem occurred.  Also, do this to reset the shuffle

Have you tried disconnecting all USB devices, except for standard keyboard and mouse (if used), and connecting the shuffle to a direct USB port?

  • IPod Shuffle Restore..I finally GET IT!!!

WOW I've finally figured out how to RESTORE the shuffle software. I went out a bought a "Tech Gear" usb 2.0 pci card hoping to increase the transfer rate. It did fly through the first 7 songs then it hung...and hung. To make a long story short I figured the pci card was not going to work with the shuffle so I took it out and hooked the shuffle up to the usb at the back of my Mac. There's where it hit the fan. When I plugged it in "iTunes cannot...please restore to factory settings..." Well I figured after reading all the postings about restoring or updating the software I wouldn't have a problem with this...WRONG!
I began to panic when the iPod didn't show up in the iTunes Source list because that is how I've updated the software before.
Now you begin to panic....But if you follow the link http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300701 and carefully read where the software is located on your hard drive you realize that you don't use iTunes to restore the iPod software.
°°°°TO RESORE iPOD SHUFFLE°°°° open Applications folder/Utilities folder/iPod Software Updater folder and choose the latest and greatest updater!!!!
I realize that this has probably been posted before but it worked for me so I'll post this in hope that it will save someone some time and effort.

Warranties on most any product cover manufacturer defects, NOT damage that you do to the product.
If you scratch your tv does the warranty cover it?
    Your computer?
    Your car?
    Anything?

  • Can't install iPod Shuffle?

I've had my 20GB iPod for almost a year now, and I've just bought an iPod Shuffle, but can't seem to install it. iTunes won't recognise it, and when I use the CD, I get the same problem. Can anyone help?
    Thanks!

hey brendan the problem is that it depends what version of i tunes u have if u have 4.7 that is primary better for using the shuffle because it has all the right applications for it. The new version 6 might cause problems with shuffles it did for mine. Try uninstalling the 20 gb i pod and installing the shuffle first. Then installing the 20 gb one after that might work. Cause im not to familar with the 20 gb ones im not sure if u can run two i pods at the same time one on application like i tunes it simply one lets u run one.
