Why Can't Older Internet Explorer Versions Be Self-Destructed?

Web Designers And Developers Always Have To Pay The Price For Older Browsers, esp. older I.E versions. Lot's of people especially old folks and computer illiterates still use them due to the fact they know very little About Browsers
and updates, Why Can't All the Older Unsupported version be Killed.
How?
Same way browsers or any other software get prompted(their users get prompted) there's a new version once they connect to the web, then told they should click 'update' to update, all users of older browsers would be prompted "this
browser is just stupidly outdated, it'll self-destruct in 10 secs, and the latest supported version would be downloaded automatically, sit back and enjoy" Problem solved!

The last Mac version of IE is so old it doesn't display web pages correctly. It also doesn't have ActiveX. If that's why the site requires IE, the old Mac PowerPC version of IE still wouldn't help you.
You could use Boot Camp to install Windows to its own bootable partition. Or, use VM software (Parallels, VMware, VirtualBox), and install Windows in a VM. Then you'd have Windows running inside OS X with access to IE.

I have a website for some studies that says Internet Explorer or Netscape are the required browsers.

Internet Explorer is only available for Windows and Netscape was discontinued. There was a Internet Explorer version for Macs, but it was years ago and only for PowerPC-based Macs.
First, you can try enabling the Internet Explorer mode in Safari to see if you can access to the site. To do it, first open Safari, go to Safari menu (on the menu bar) > Preferences > Advanced, and mark "Show Develop menu in menu bar". Then, close Preferences and go to Develop menu (on the menu bar) > User Agent, and choose one of the Internet Explorer options

Certain Internet Explorer versions crash on clicking of datepicker icon

Hi,
I am using sun's web ui calendar tag to display the date field as well as the datepicker icons. However,
on certain internet explorer versions, a crash occurs on clicking the datepicker link. The IE version is as follows:-

It works fine for the GDR release. Can someone help please?

Try reporting this issue at a forum/mailinglist/issuetracker devoted to the specific component library you're using.
I guess you mean it as part of the Woodstock component library. They have an issuetracker.

I just installed Foxfire. I like it very much and want to keep it as my permanate browser. My question is can I remove Internet Explorer 8.

No. I am not sure that IE can be totally removed from Windows XP. As I recall, it is interwoven into the XP operating system. Removing IE8 in ''Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs'' will simply back up to the previous IE version until you end up at IE6 (full of security issues). If that is the case, it is best keep IE8 on your system. If you ever need to do '''''manual updates''''' for Windows, you will need IE to do so.

I have a GP scenario, which is built on Java Webdynpro, with the views desiged with the interactive form. Everything seems to work perfect when i work on the Internet Explorer Version 6. But when i use Version 7 and above none of the parameters pass from one user to other.. Is there any specific reason for this?

i have the same problem. there is a program that works. it calls KX project.. it works.. i have too. but i think the music not even powerfull as the original program. my bass it not loud enough.. with KX can i not turn it up.. only with my system. :S mayby is there a other alternatief program.. sorry for the complicaded english

You can read the User-Agent header using request.getUserAgent() or request.getHeader("User-Agent") in your jsp or servlet.

Internet Explorer versions for 5.1.9

We have a system that is running Business Objects 5.1.9.
We need to update to Internet Explorer version 7 from 6.
I have searched all over for the relevant documenation without success.
Can anyone help point in the direction of the documentation.
We need to understand if there will be any issues but are short of development environments to test it.

However, I would highly recommend using Wamcom Mozilla instead. You can stop popup advertisements, and it is much better support of many newer websites than Internet Explorer on Mac OS 9. It can be found here:

Install Windows 7 into a virtual machine program (IE comes with it), I suggest VirtualBox as it's free and gets updates for near forever. However VMFusion and Parallels has more features but then to drop you if you don't upgrade OS X.

It is not recommended to uninstall IE on Windows XP. You can disable IE instead and you won't see the desktop shortcut.

When I updated to Firefox 3.6.3. I can't open Internet Explorer anymore. Clicking on the icon just dies, and going through the Search function also fails. If I do a system restore back to before the update, it will open, but Firefox will NOT.
