Why can't Siri schedule an appointment?

I am unable to schedule an appointment with Siri in my iPhone 4S, the command sequence is as follows:
Siri: What can I help you with?
Me: I want to schedule an appointment for February first at seven PM.
Siri: OK, Scheduling appointment for February first at seven PM, would you like to confirm?
I select confirm of the two options available, the other option is cancel...
Siri: One moment please
I wait like five seconds...
Siri: Sorry, I'm afraid I can't do that.
Me: Why not?
Siri: I don't know.
Me: You better, or I'll send you to get recycled! You'll be a soda can by this time next week!
Siri: No comment
I like this phone but I really wanted this Siri feature to schedule appointment. Please help before this phone winds up at my grocery store shelf!

Check your iCloud settings. I was having the same problem until I looked at this and realized that I was not signed in. This fixed my problem instantly. I would've gotten rid of this phone too If I couldn't fix it that was the main feature I was looking forward to. I really hope this helps let me know. Good luck Apple users.

I've recently experienced an issue with the Apple Retail store. I have been told by 2 different retail stores that my machine must wait at the store for 5 days before being repaired. Although the parts are in stock - that is how long the line is. Ofcourse I asked - why can't I schedule to bring my machine in a couple of days before the repair is to be done? The response was basically that is not how Apple does it. So if the turn around time for a repair is 2day - but the queue is backed up 5 days, my machine must sit there doing nothing for 5 days. Obviously, Siri could use a little tweaking - IMO - but you have to speak very clearly and make sure that the mic is not impeded in any way.

Why can't siri find me in Haiti when the Map app can?

I know everyone is asking the same questions but I was just wondering, why can't siri find me outside the US (Haiti) when the map application clearly can and has all the info and restaurants, etc. Also Siri can"t seem to be able to dial 8 digits numbers ( 509-xxxx-xxxx). Anyhow, I just want to know if this is going to be permanent or will there be an update to fix it.

Why can't Siri text my friend's father if I have them both in my contacts?

If Siri can text my mother or father or whoever because I have them in my info, why can't she do the same if I ask her to text people related to my friends. Say I ask Siri to text so and so's rather and I have them both in my contacts. Siri says I don't know who his father is even though I put it in their contacts?

Yes I understand that those are my relationships, but doesn't Siri go through my contact info and find that. Why is it do hard to go through someone else's? It's the same number of people involved in each process. This isn't a big issue I have no problem with directly going to that contact I just want to know why Siri can't do that.

Can Siri schedule an appointment but not send an invitation?

I often make appointments with friends and colleagues, but while working out details, add an appointment (such as "Lunch with Joe") to my calendar to block the time.
I've asked Siri to do this a number of times, and it gets the day and time right, and even will ask me "which Joe" so I can choose the right one.
But then Siri sends a calendar invite to the person I named. I don't want this to happen.
I can't seem to figure out how to include a name in the title of an appointment and also then tell Siri not to create an invite, but only an appointment.
Any suggestions, help, pointers are much appreciated! Thanks!

Why can't Siri find out who the artist is of a song the name of the artist isn't music?

I was trying to find out who made the parody of John Anderson's song Swingin using these lyrics ( I was standing on the front porch seeing ugly from her head to her toes and we were standing) the first time I asked she said I can't do that Genius isn't on or something like that I asked her what Genius is and she showed me the defanation didn't need to know that but what ever now she eather says I can't look for music or I'm not lesaning to music app I was till I held down the square talk to her I keep telling her I don't want her to the song just the title and artist name? And why does she not have a cash or temp files for resent conversations it doesn't make any since to me as to why she has no idea what the last thing you said to her is so when you tell here the search or what ever she did was in error or 404 should I tell Siri that system found that answer to be in error code 404 and go from there, shouldn't a digital asstent be a fully growing I.A. And by growing I mean shouldn't have to lookup any book known entity from the internet at some point in time but as it is now she is only as smart as she is and most her knolge is from the web which isn't the best way of learning everything I'm sure us smart kids could idk talk to her if she at least remberd any thing at all ever at least per chat I have don't realy care if who ever reads this does or not even if I didn't wouldn't change my opinion but espaaly as Daddy I fill the need to try and teach my kids every thing they need to know in life and Siri doesn't have a cance at learning from her mestaks becouse she can't rember what you just said or ask if I designed a A.I. That wasn't Geting smarter by the day I wouldn't tell a soul I was the desiner I would be ashamed of my work if it couldn't carry on a conversation and be able to just know how to spell Genius on its own after it Wikipediaed the answer 1sec or 1000 years later

Why can't siri call any of my contacts? nor can they locate annything in indonesia? why is this? aren't they connected to the web?

i live in indonesia, and siri seems to not be able to locate anything, why is that? but through gps maps, it works fine.
and when i tell siri to call anyone on my contacts, it says its not able to, but when i first bought it, it was fine. why was this? could it be due to the update of ios 5.01? can anyone help?

You cannot manually manage music with match turned on on your iOS device. If you want to manage music manually, you will need to turn off match on your iPhone.

I solved the problem. The above code works fine if used alone, but I was also using the DevExpress.XtraScheduler control, and when I updated the GroupWise calendar items using a background thread, from that point on I couldn't talk to GroupWise at all. So I've rewritten my code not to use a background thread and it appears to be working fine.

Why can't siri find my appointments?

When i ask siri what am i doning today, it will say, 'You don't have any events on your calender today.' even though i do. It can create new events on my calender that will show up (but it still wont be able to find these events it has created). Also i couldent seem to sync my calenders except over iCloud, any tips from anyone?

I am not sure why Siri is missing your events, unless you have more than one calendar and the event is not in the main calendar.
As far as syncing your calendar, with the upgrade to Mavericks, you have lost the ability to sync via iTunes. You can only sync calendar and contacts via iCloud.

Why can't siri remind frequently

I asked Siri to remind me at 5:00pm to take some paracetamol
And then every four hours after.
Siri says I'm sorry but I can't remind that frequently why not??

Hi Tonefox, thanks for the info on Siri and in particular Siri in Australia. I am probably not as clued up as you but I do have to agree with geng07.
I have read the definition that Wikipedia gives for Beta version after reading your post. The advertising gives every indication thats what the phone does. It's disappointing to say the least and with no indication of when this might happen it does leave a bad taste in the mouth especially when we pay top dollar and expect all that is advertised to be functional.
Is there anything else I should be aware of before I head bang again?

Why can't Siri locate contact addresses for map directions?

Having an issue with iphone 4s using Siri for locating addresses saved within contacts for map directions.
The problem is only evident on about half of the contacts so far.. the message i get is 'I couldn't find an address for .." even though the contact I asked for clearly has their address saved. I've doubled checked I've used the right address fields and seem fine.
I'm unable to distinguine the problem between the contacts where Siri works as it should and locate the address, and the ones it can't - including my home address.
Very frustating when I want directions in the car for driving and using hands free.
Any ideas guys?!

It seems to be a bug in the software. Other people have said it may have so something to do with siri not understanding UK postcodes properly. I don't really know but I seem to have found a solution, although cumbersome.
-Load up your contact from phonebook app
-Tap the address (apple maps should go straight to it)
-Double tap home and switch back to phonebook app
-Delete the address
-Diuble tap back into maps (the pin point should still be there)
-Press the little blue arrow on the pin
-Add to contacts > Existing contact
-Select contact
(Now this is the important bit)
-Tap edit then tap the right hand column off the address section in order to set it as home, work, etc.
-Done
Phew!!
It's long winded I know, but now I can just tell siri to get directions to so and so's home safely while driving without fiddling around tapping buttons.
Sort it out Apple. It should 'Just Work' outside of the US too you know.

Why can't Siri understand the pronunciation of the word sung?

Will I ever know Siri's answer to " what would you do if I sung out of tune? ". Each time I say the word sung it comes out as the word song. Why is this happening?

Try the grammatically correct version of that phrase...
