Why can't touch and drag icons on flash websites? Maybe a possible future update?

Hello, I use Firefox 23 with Adobe Flash Player 11.1 plug in. One of my favorite flash sites to visit is the pokemon and the pokemon global link website. I can't touch and drag in this browser utilizing flash. The icons respond to me selecting them, but I am unable to drag them. It makes it very difficult to utilize these sites. I have no problem doing this in my dolphin browser. I'm a HUGE Firefox fan and I would like to get rid of dolphin browser completely. Is there a way to touch and drag on flash sites? Could this be applied to a future update possibly?

Hi barb, well for one thing the vs of Flash Player is the old one. You need to update to the latest version which is 10.0.42.34.
The first link should be http://www.gourdlamps.com/presentations; that one and the other one work fine for me.
It could be that those two websites have updated to 10.0.42.34.

Then go to this thread and follow my instructions, except use the links I gave you. The procedures are the same.
Before you do any of this, take a look at the Uninstall article and the last two NOTES. They are very important when uninstalling IE. The last NOTE: Use the "See Details" If you see the old version of 10.0.32.18 still there, follow those instructions in that NOTE.

Also one other difference is after Adobe confirms you have the 10.0.42.34 installed, you would go to the manage add ons
and look for Shockwave Flash Object.....ActiveX Control......Flash10d.ocx ...... make sure that is listed and it is Enabled.
Java: If you have any old Java entries in your Add/Remove, Remove them via the Add/Remove process, wait until the entry no longer appears and when you are finished, Reboot. Hi,
I am having issues with my Macbook Pro 13inch trackpad.
I can't click anything and drag any icons/files as I usually could. I also cannot select and highlight texts too.
Earlier I was advised by someone on Apple Discussions Community to clean the trackpad for about 2 min with a
dampcloth. Later, it seemed to work as usual but after 3 weeks I'm facing the problem yet again.
Anyone has a solution for this problem ?

If the issue is with pressing the trackpad to click, if that is what you mean by clicking and dragging issues, more often than not it will be an issue with the trackpad itself and you may need a repair. The trackpad can be replaced on your Mac.

I'm able to highlight and open files on my desktop but I can't drag them. Just happened yesterday, I was moving files onto my computer from an external HD, might have something to do with it.

By mouse do you mean your trackpad or are you using a USB mouse?
If external, then see if you have the same problem with your trackpad.
If trackpad, are you having trouble keeping the drag going? If so, see the "origami" solution.
Identify the model of MacBook you have and "mouse" for the best answer.

If I try to manually sync, it says my phone is synced to another library and will be erased/synced with the library on my computer, which I don't want to do. There are some songs on my current computer that would be deleted. Do I have to completely try to rebuild the playlist? I thought when I removed it from my phone last year, but saved it to my computer, I would just be able to drop/drag it to add it back on this year.

Why can't I place disk icons on my desktop?
I installed OSX Lion, version 10.7.1 from the App Store onto the internal disk of my MacBookPro which was cloned to an external FW800 GoFlexDesk drive. I booted from that external drive, ran the disk utility to erase and then repartition my internal drive so that I would have a "clean" installation of Lion. My disk icon (for the internal drive) does not even show in Finder windows. In Snow Leopard I showed my internal drive, my Time Capsule drives, and any external drives on my desktop as icons. Now these do not even show in Finder. I know they are there, because if I choose the path view option, they are shown when I pick "All My Files" under favorites. I can navigate backwards in the path bar, but still they do not actually allow me to select them or drag them to the desktop. In Snow Leopard, it was an option to show disks on desktop in general system preferences, but I find that option no where in Lion! What simple little thing am I missing?

Not a good idea.
What you could do, is have the Library content on the external hard drive and simply tell your iTunes programme to look on the hard drive for your music etc.. However, once you set that up, that hard drive needs to be connected and ready to read, before you start the iTunes programme. If it isn't ready, iTunes will simply go back to the default location for the music, find nothing and then you'll be back here saying that you've lost your Library.

The mail app is crashing on you for some reason. Close the mail app and reset your iPad.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If that doesn't help, you can also try resetting all settings. You will not lose any data, but most of the device settings will have to be entered in the settings app again. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings.

On a touchpad, I do the touch-and-drag gesture (tap once, then drag with touchpad) until I highlight all of the text. However, if the text is large, then merely putting the mouse at the bottom of the screen makes for considerbly slow scrolling. Normally on Windows, I would instead apply a second finger to drag up and down, which would scroll the screen at a desired faster rate.
Is there an equivalent that you can do in Linux? The TapAndDragGesture in synaptics allows for the touch-and-drag feature, but it doesn't allow for the extra one where you can apply the second finger to scroll up/down while still highlighting. I haven't found any other alternatives that allow one to highlight while scrolling relatively fast. (LockedDrags doesn't do this either.)

This topic isnt really something normally answered in the Arch forums. Im not saying people wont answer (as I myself am going to), but generally this is something better for upstream developers to consider as opposed to Arch users. Just trying to point you in a more productive direction for the future Many times if you ask something like this Archers will just ignore you so you get the point..
That said, my touchpad on Arch works exactly as you describe desiring. I double-tap 1 finger to initiate the highlight function, then move down to select more text of course. If I reach the end of the visible page, I can simply swipe my second finger and it will initiate vertical scrolling without affecting text selection. FWIW, I switched to xf86-input-synaptics-git in the AUR for multitouch, and that is how it works for me.
I do not have edge scrolling or sustained scrolling enabled on my system as it drives me nuts. When I really want to select a ton of text quickly, Ill initiate by holding the left touchpad mouse button down, then two-finger scrolling up or down. That is the easiest way for me..

User selecting multiple UIButtons with touch and drag

I am wondering if it's possible to have a user touch and drag across multiple buttons so that I can tell which buttons have been selected.
This is similar to to a matrix of buttons in OS X. If a user clicks and drags over a number of buttons, there is an array that can be read to see which were 'selected'. I don't see a UIMatrix and Embed Objects In menu in Interface Builder while in iPhone development only gives a View selection.

It seems this is being done by others. However, right now, I'm tracking the touch location and manually figuring out which button is under the drag. I let the underlying view be the user interaction and turn off the interaction on the UIButtons themselves. Yet, this seems to task the processor quite a bit and it takes too long to highlight the UIButtons.
It's such a simple thing for OS X, I can' believe they dropped this functionality on the iPhone. Can anyone please give some hints as to something to try here.

I have created a site with iWeb. I have replaced the iWeb Nav bar with a vertical one I made myself. Problem is, my top button disables itself if it overlaps into the "hidden" nav bar area. I can cmd click and drag it into this area, but then all the rest

I don't know how to bring the rest of the page up without dragging it also into the designated nav bar area. Well, you made a good start with SEO by getting rid of the iWeb default navigation since it doesn't help the spiders and, out there in the real world, there are more people than you would think with javascript turned off in their browsers.
One of the downsides of iWeb is that it doesn't allow for the alt attribute in the img tag. Its well worth adding these to give you extra keywords even if you have captioned all your images. Use iWeb SEO Tool for this...

Running you files through an optimizer will help to reduce this problem and further reduce the size of image files even beyond the initial optimization you do before loading them into iWeb...
