  • Cannot any longer save new smart collections

Hi, after reinstalling Photoshop CS6 I cannot any longer save smart collections in Bridge. Always I want to create a smart collection by entering criteria, but when I click on SAVE, it is not saved. After some time of waiting, I always have to cancel, to close the pop-up window that should allow me to save the new smart collection. In my old installation (before I had to install a new hard disk), setting up and saving smart collections never was a problem.
ALL updates of CS6 have been installed. And I am under WINDOWS 7. Version of CS6 is: 13.01 x64
Before, I used a regular hard disk for the system, now I have a SSD, plus several hard disks for data storage.
Can anybody help me with advice what the problem is?

  • Why don't I have reduce motion option with iOS 7.0.2 upgrade?

Why don't I have reduce motion option with iOS 7.0.2 upgrade?  It is making me really dizzy and sick to my stomach similar to reading in the car (can't do that either).  I read to go into general settings, accessibility and click reduce motion....I do not have this option at all.  HELP!

Seconded. Although my main problem w/ that zoom-out-as-app-loads effect is that I suspect it's the source of that annoying delay between app zooming open & UI being active/accepting input. When I switch between apps, after the zoom completes, there's 1-2 seconds where the app accepts no UI input at all. This seemed instantaneous in iOS 6.
(Oh, off-topic, but the control center is devilishly hard to sweep up. most of the time I accidentally start Safari or Mail.)

  • Slow Motion Problem with Motion 3

Hi, I am new to using Motion 3 and am having major frustration trying to get slow motion to work. I have applied a speed reduction to a short clip about 5 seconds in lengh. I've tried reducing the speed to 50% on one and about 10% on the other, booth using Optical Flow. But for some reason the resulting clip is very jerky and I have no idea why it is doing this. I have tried it with multiple other clips but it is till doing the same thing. Does anyone have any ideas? Please I am desperate to resolve this problem!
Here is a clip of the resulting problem if it helps...

Haven't heard a thing, but snce backward works and forward doesn't I think it is definitely a bug, not intentional. Since Verizon really doesn't watch these threads, these forums are users helping other users, I suggest you go over to dslreports.com, register if you are not already registered (it is free), and then post in the Verizon Direct forum there. Actual Verizon techs are there to help, and you can report the problem and no one other than Verizon reps can see any of your personal or account info.

  • Weird Slow motion effect with Motion4 and FCP7.

    Hi everyone,
I was testing a simple slow motion clip when I encountered a weird issue with it.
Basically the clip of a person running in a room where there is a bookshelf and the weird effect is that it looks like there is an "halo" around the person and within such "overlap" everything on that path looks "melted/vibrant" distorted.
To better clarify the issue I uploaded a sample clip here:
    http://www.vimeo.com/5891093
After doing some tests I've found a workaround to this. So the sample clip shows the problem and the portion without any problem.
The clip was shot in XDCAM EX 720p 25fps.
After ingesting and importing the MOV file into Motion I had exported the slowed clip out of Motion using the same codec XDCAM EX 720p VBR.
When I imported that MOV into FCP I got that weird effect on both canvas and final export to H.264.
As second test, instead of using the export from Motion, I decided to use the Motion project in the FCP timeline. Once rendered (as the motn clip was in the Motion Codec Decompression) as XDCAM the same issue appeared on both the canvas and final export to H.264.
At this point the strange thing was that if I opened the Motion project in the viewer it was working perfectly fine.
I then decided to export within FCP the Motion project to XDCAM 720p before instantiating it in the timeline.
So did that and I got a 720p clip that I imported in the timeline without any rendering needs.
With that clip the canvas was playing ok and so was the final export to H.264.
As the initial work in Motion 4 was ok and I didn't see any issue, I thought this might be some sort of FCP 7 issue (or some bad settings that I have on my system).
Anyway I've found my work around and just decided to share here just in case someone else could understand the behind the scene of this.
During these tests I have tried to place the Motion project on different timelines (in ProRes 422, ProRes 444) just to see whether the issue was due to a combination of factors including the XDCAM codec, but didn't fix the problem.
    Cheers,
    Armando.

Just for the record, I made another test with a different material and now I start thinking it could be a Motion4 weird behavior than an FCP7 issue.
I have shot another clip this time with an in camera slow motion (shot @60fps in XDCAM EX 720p 25pfs format), then applied to Motion4 for another 50% optical flow time remapping.
This time after checking well at Motion results, I can see the issue in the bookshelf area with vibrant/melting spots.
After importing the Motion project into FCP and then exported as self contained MOV in XDCAM EX 720p, the issue is gone as in the other tests.
I went back to the previous tests I made and checked better in Motion; the problem was slightly noticeable even there in one test.
So I guess it is Motion producing that weird output and not FCP, which seems btw fixing the issue.
    Regards,
    Armando.

  • Any way to use 80GB Classic with a "Portable" video device

I have asked questions about this topic in other threads over the past month, but I am going to revive it here. I am leaving on a trip shortly, and I'm trying to receive a definitive answer whether there is any conceivable way to use my 80 GB iPod Classic with a portable video player. Some of the most frequently ones mentioned are the Motorola iFlip, the Philips 750, Sonics V55....I have read confusing reports of people going backwards to firmware 1.0.2 to use the TV out feature to get them to play on a TV...with Apple cables..., but I still have been unable to decipher whether anyone anywhere has successfully been able to use an iPod Classic with any type of "Portable" video device. I am not opposed to paying for appropriate cables or even an Apple produced device, but I don't believe one exists. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

Which probably refers to the iPod 5th generation (commonly called the iPod Video). Do Philips specifically advertise this as compatible with the iPod Classic?
Yes, you are correct, it probably does refer to the Ipod 5th generation of Ipods; however, that's not stated on any packaging for the Philips product. It simply says: "Docking Entertainment System DVD Portable with dock for iPod" and later in the instruction manual it says: You can dock your iPod player for playback of stored files and recharging. Only 30G, 60G and 80G iPod players with video are supported." So my point is that how would anyone know that Philips is refering to the 5th generation Ipods until after the product was purchased and used? My answer: He or she would not know...could not know based solely on the packaging and instructions...and in some cases until a knowledgeable Philips customer service person provided the correct answer. This miscommunication could have been avoided completely if only Philips had incorporated "5th generation Ipods" in it's promotional and instruction language. Even after the units were shipped, a simple disclaimer could have been sent to retail stores that carried the product and placed in (or on) the packaging. Furthermore, Philips could alter the manual on its own Web site to provide a clarification. So far, none of these tasks has occurred.
I'm curious as to why you think it's Apple's responsibility to ensure the new iPods work with this Philips product.
I not never said who is responsible. Neither company wants to accept responsibility. It appears, however, that Apple altered its firmware and/or software that renders many products (including the Philips DCP 750/37)incompatible with the Ipod Classic. All I want is to use my Ipod Classic with a third party product. I don't care where the fix comes from that allows this to happen.

  • Slow Motion Problems With Twixtor Pro in AE CS5.5

Hello forum! I recorded some footage at 1080p and at 60 fps. My shutter speed was 1/1000 and the ISO was 3200. After importing my footage and applying twixtor pro to a solid and setting the color source to my footage, i get a lot of ghosting effects. Some other things i did with Twixtor: Changed speed % to 20, Cahnged Frame Interp to Motion Weighted Blend, Changed, Input Frame Rate to 29.97, and Finally Changed Warping to Inverse w/ smart blend. Below is my video. If the emedded video below doesn't work (because I'm new to the forums), then heres the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qGmW7or3gw

    Peregrinecommando99 wrote:
I'm a bit confused... How would a 1/2 shutter speed be better than 1/1000? I thought 1/1000 was faster?
Maybe this will help. If you were going for a target slow mo of 1/2 speed and your playback was going to be at 30 fps then you'd shoot at 60 fps. If you had a film camera with a normal shutter shooting at 60 fps wold give you and exposure of about 1/100 of a second. That means that if you have a video camera that will shoot at 60 P, or even 60I that your shutter speed should not be any faster than 1/100 of a second. Slowing down 60P or 60i footage is easy, It only gets hard when you want to slow something down to 1/4 or even 1/8 normal speed.
Let's take 1/8 speed. IOW one second of real time takes eight seconds of playback time.
If your project was set to 24 fps that means your target filming frame rate would be 8 X 24 or 192 fps. That means your shutter speed would be somewhere close to 1/400 of a second or half the duration of the frame rate. So I guess I should have said frame rate times 2.
Setting the shutter to 1/1000 will give you an unnatural look to the slow mo because the edges will be too sharp. There are some occasions when you want that crystal sharp image in slow mo, but you have to be able to film the original scene at a high frame rate. Images with very sharp fast moving edges give Twixtor a very hard time. The edges end up creating weird ghosting that can’t be interpolated away. It’s just too much information for the motion vectors to successfully recreate. 1/8 speed is about my limit for Twixtor. If the camera was capable of 60i or 60p that that means doesn't mean I could slow down that original footage to 1/16 speed. It means that at 1/8 speed I'd have twice as much original information to work with and would therefore get a better result. It also means that I'd still want a shutter speed that was no faster than 1/400 of a second.
Did you follow that? First rule of slow mo: Film at as high a frame rate as you can with your camera. Second rule: Try and emulate the shutter speed of a film camera that is over-cranked. Third rule of slow mo: Don't try and slow down too much. The amount of slowdown you can successfully achieve depends entirely on the movement in the frame. Unfortunately, the faster the motion, the harder it is to slow it down using software interpolation.
I spent several months working with re:vision fx on deinterlacing and speed changes in interlaced footage. This advice comes from several hundred experiments on several types of footage and from 40+ years behind the viewfinder of film cameras. I hope this helps.

Do you create the connection object on the server and pass it over to the client, we do not allow passing the connection object over the wire.

  • Why is my itunes so slow when syncing with 10.5.1

syncing and backing up my iPhone using iTunes is taking forever. what's the problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One thing that you can do in general to help overall performance is upgrade your RAM. The late 2006 iMacs should be able to take up to 3GB of RAM(some people install 4GB anyway) but even going up to 2GB should help your system a lot. Besides RAM is cheap these days: http://eshop.macsales.com/MyOWC/Upgrades.cfm?model=288&type=Memory&TI=3454&shoup grds=Show+Upgrades
The Free Agent drives are USB only so for one thing USB will be slower than your internal drive by at least half, however it still shouldn't take 10-15 seconds to access unless something else is going on. What version of iTunes do you have? Did you try Repairing the Disk Permissions and Verifying your internal drive? Try resetting the SMC and see if that helps: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303446
Should I expect to delete files quicker on the iMac in iTunes? If there is a
problem, what can I do so that I get iTunes to perform better using an external
    drive?
Yes. The internal drive inside your iMac has read/write speeds somewhere between 55-65MB/sec while your USB will max out at about 30MB/sec. This may not fix your problem but just as recommendation, next time purchase an external drive that has a Firewire connection. Firewire 400 maxes out at about 40MB/sec but overall performance is usually better than USB 2.0.

  • Cannot import Sony Camcorder latest HDR-TD20 3D digital camcorder videos onto iPhoto

hi, i just bought the latest Sony camcorder HDR-TD20.  when connecting the camcorder to iMac/iPhoto,  iPhoto can only recognize the photos i took in the camcorder, but didn't recognize or detect any of the videos I recorded on the camcorder.  i believe they're in AVCHD files...
can any one let me know whether there's a new driver that needs to update iPhoto in order for iPhoto to recognize these video files?
iMovie however, seems to recognize the movies and is able to import there...  but i realy would like to keep all photos and videos in one place - i.e., iPhoto

    iPhoto doesn't work with AVCHD.
If you're shooting AVCHD then you are shooting to edit. So, shoot, process in iMovie, export as a .mov and import that to iPhoto.
If you're not shooting to edit then don't shoot AVCHD.

  • Slow motion lost after sync from mac to iphone

    Hi,
I can capture videos in slow motion but those videos play at normal speed once Sync them via iTunes.
    1. Capture videos in slow motion.
    2. The videos first play in slow motion in the iPhone. There is a time line slider to move the slo-mo effect back and forth.
    3. I do a back-up via iTunes including videos.
    4. After syncing, the videos in the iPhone appear in one album called "Slo-Mo".
    5. In the thumbnail of the video clip I can see the small dial icon that all other slow motion videos have.
    6. Playing the video shows a normal speed clip without the timeline slider under the video frames view.
The videos DO retain the slo-mo "effect" in Aperture and iPhoto also. Not in the iPhone after syncing.
Any hints to solve this?  thanks
    jp
    iPhone 6 iOS8

    Hi,
iOS 8.1 didn't fix the issue so here is my workaround to " show-off " my slow motion clips:
I have tried to open the clips with iMovie in the iPhone.  ( I guess not everyone has iMovie installed...?)
So, you can create a new project in iOS iMovie and import the clip you want. Slow motion clips preserve the little dial icon so you can see which ones have the slo-mo effect. It will preserve the slow-motion sections of the original clip and will play "slow".
If for some magical reason your clip doesn't play "slow" in iOS iMovie click on the small "tachometer" icon and select the desired speed.
So. iMovie does know the clip has enough frames to play in slow motion... why the camera app doesn't ?
    good luck,
    jp

  • Smooth Slow Motion from 50 fps Clip in 50 fps Timeline

If I want 50% smooth slow motion from a 50 FPS video clip, I would normally ask PP to interpret that clip as 25 FPS - that works great.
If however I import the 50 FPS video clip and interprett it as 50 FPS, I would have to set the speed of the video clip in the timeline to 50% to get the same level of slow motion.
The question is - when I follow the latter method, does PP create new frames for the slow motion or is it clever enough to use all the frames from the original 50 FPS video clip? to put it another away, does PP always generate NEW frames for slow motion or does it try to use the frames we are attempting to ignore?
I've done some basic tests and so far I can't see any real difference between the two methods. This leads me to beleive PP is effectively using all of the original 50 frames when the 50 fps video clip is imported into a 50 fps timeline and then slowed down in the timeline by 50%. - if this is the case, well done PP!!! If this is not the case, then it would be a welcomed enhancement in future releases.
I guess what you are all wondering is why would I want to import a 50 fps video clip into a 50 fps timeline and then slow it down in the timeline - well, as a wedding Videographer, it is simply because some parts of the video need to be in slow motion and other parts like messages and speeches need to be interpreted at normal speed. If playback in the timeline is at normal speed, i find it simpler to slow down the "Walking Down the Isle" clips rather than having to speed up the speeaches and messages.
In short, when importing 50 fps video for smooth slow motion, are both the following methods equally effective in terms of smooth motion?
Method 1: Import the 50 fps video clip into 25 fps timeline
Method 2: import the 50 fps video clip into 50 fps timeline and set the speed of the video clip in the timeline to 50% - I'm assuming PP does not generate new frames and gets them from the original 50 fps file instead..
To put it another way, does PP ALWAYS attempt to generate new fromes when slowing down video in the timeline? When extra frames are available in the original video file, does PP try to get the extra frames from that file instead of generating new ones?

I recorded 2 video clips of the same scene. The camera was panning from right to left.
First video clip - recorded at 25 fps
second video clip - recorded at 50 fps
Both video clips recorded at the same panning speed of the same scene.
    1. If I import the 25 fps video into 25 fps timeline and slow it down by 50%, the exported video looks jerky.
    2. If I import the 50 fps video clip into 25 fps timeline, the exported video looks smooth motion.
    3. If I import the 50 fps video clip into 50 fps timeline, slow it down in the timeline by 50%, and export the video as 25 fps then the result is still smooth motion.
I've only done the experiment once and may have to repeat to be absolutely sure.
