Why cant anyone hear me on a call unless its using the speaker phone?

I have had the 4s for 3 weeks and suddenly people cant hear me unless i go to speaker phone, i can record with audio but siri doesnt hear anything

Pretty much. Except that Apple will replace it for a fixed fee that is far less than the cost of a new phone. In the US the replacement cost for an iPhone 4 is $149. It is comparable in the UK. Unless you can prove that the fault was present at the time of purchase. A switch wearing out would probably be considered normal wear and tear, not a "fault".

Yes, when I disable the conversations add-on, I can then get to the attachment...but I like the conversations add-on otherwise and it used to handle the attachments just fine.

HT4623 when i get a call or make one I have to use the speaker phone.I hear nothing after the phone rings but when I hit the soeakerphone icon i can hear the caller but so does everyone else.

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)

Tried blue tooth on/ and bluetooth off. Phone ring is set high. Both phones are having the same problem, so must be missing something?

Lingling28, I want your friends to be able to hear your lovely voice when they talk to you! Is this happening on all your calls or calls in a certain area? Dial *228 option 2 and reboot your phone. While on a call, verify the call audio is all the way turned up by using the side volume keys. Also, if you have a case, make sure it is not covering the microphone. Try taking it off completely.

I attempted to answer my iphone 5 today and I can hear everyone else when they call however nobody is able to hear my voice. Text messages can be sent and recieved. I've synced the phone and reset the carrier still no luck, I think this has happened after the last update 6.1.2? help please.

This could be a reason, copied from Troubleshooting iPhone hardware
If you are using a third-party iPhone case, make sure it is not covering the microphone or top microphone (iPhone 4 only). Try making some calls without the case to see if a caller can now hear you more clearly.

Perhaps the volume is all the way down for Siri on your phone. Siri has its own volume control. Start Siri and then turn up the volume with the button on the side and see if you hear it.
