You may be able to get the las compatible version by:
Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)

You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

Why cant I put video on my ipod touch 2g iOS 4.2.1?
I know there are a ton of discussions involving this but I need specifics in regards to the specs. So what I am going to do is post EXACTLY what I converted the file to, and can someone please tell me where I went wrong?
Also, do I need some sort of media player app to play these videos? I tried searching for hours the other night for an app like this (thats free) compatible with 4.2.1 to no avail. It is extremely frustrating.
Also I am going to post this seperatly i think but I downloaded and app called idownloader lite. I wanted to be able to go on the internet and download a video to watch for later use offline. It says to go thr ough their browser find a video (not from youtube) and copy and paste the url to do this. but it NEVER works! Does anyone know of a website that will work with this?

I have a 3rd gen ipod touch and don't have the money to get a newer ipod so why cant you make iOS 6 available for 3rd gen ipod touches?
1) You are not talking to Apple here. We are users just like you.
2) The 3rd gen iPod does not have the hardware to be able to use iOS 6
3) As of now, almost all available apps will also run on iOS 5. -

Is there a way to search the apps store for these older apps?If I may ask, why do you not just upgrade your iPod's operating system? Even the first-generation iPod touch can run iOS 3, and the 2nd-generation iPod touch can run iOS 4, though not all features work. Then you would have a much broader range of apps available to you.

I have the verison 10.5 of iTunes and I connect my 3rd Gen iPod touch, I click Check for Update but it says "4.2.1 is the current verison" I don't know what to do.
You probably have a 2G iPod and those can only go to 4.2.1. If 8 or 16 GB it is a 2G. A 32 GB can be either . To identify yours:

I just updated my iPod Touch 2 generation to iOS 4 and I was excited about changing the home screen wallpaper, but when i went to change it, that option wasn't there. Is there some reason this feature is not available on the iPod Touch (or mine at least)? I am confused and disappointed..
You never could change the background... At least, I never could!
You can change the picture for the "home" screen, unless I'm mistaken. This is the screen you see when you click on the iPod waking it from stand-by. You'll see the "slide to unlock" slider, and your image in the background, but that's it!
Now, here's the "thing"... Granted, I've not been using it for a couple of months, so correct me if I'm wrong. Behind all the icons, the background had the typical "space" image. Dark, with red gassy clusters and stars... The same default image from OS X. Or, maybe I'm going crazy, and it's always been solid black.
After I ran the update, I did the same thing as everyone else... Tried to set my background, only to find it isn't supported on the 2g. I was surprised to find it solid black though. Were did my star picture go?
So, please let me know if I'm imagining the old starry background was there, or if the update has sucked it away to blackness.
(Otherwise, folders are good... That is all.) -

The 2G can only go to iOS 4.2.1 and that requires iTunes version 10 or later. If you have a Mac, that requires OSX 10.5.8 or later.

How do I get my 5th gen. iPod touch running iOS 7.1.1 out of recovery mode?
One day I woke up and I found my iPod on the floor. I forgot to plug it in so I thought it died, but decided to test and see. When I tried to turn it on, the Apple logo went away and displayed the connect to iTunes screen. I connected it to iTunes and clicked restore. After a few minutes, there was an error message saying that iTunes couldn't restore the iPod and the error code was 21. Have any ideas on how to get it out of recovery mode? I'm desperate and my iPhone and/or iPad won't hold my 3,500+ songs. I miss my music. Thanks for the support! :)

Same way as always. Go to the App store app and select one compatible with your iPod and purchase it. Many app require iOS 4.3 or later and will not install on on a 2G iPod since a 2G can only go to 4.2.1
