Because you make a FaceTime call from FaceTime on the iPad.
On a Mac, you can start and iChat conversation from the Messages app and maybe that is what you are talking about. iChat can still be used in Mountain Lion in order to have a face to face conversation with other Mac users that are not running ML and therefore do not have FaceTime.

I am currently an Alltel customer that was bought out by at&t. We are set to change over in December or January. I may or may not stay with at&t as I have heard bad things about their service. I am interested in a complete touch screen Blackberry and am wondering if Verizon is set to get the Blackberry Storm 3? I heard they were and then heard it was cancelled?! Anyone know? Thanks!

How I solved this.
Log into itunes on your compter
Click on Apps under Library in left menu bar
Click 'Check for Updates' botton right on iMac
New 'Terms and Conditions' notification appears with accept button
Click 'Accept' and your all set.
BTW I had my iphone connect during this procedure.

Personally I think the iOS devices are poor at reconnecting - Airplay establishes that a link is available but when the iPhone/iPad has been away from the house and rejoins the network i think AppleTV already thinks it's connected with a different IP address and fails to recognise it has joined the network again with new credentials.
Something along those lines anyway.
I find that a combination of restarting AppleTV, router and iOS device tends to fix it, but not for everyone.

your iphone is definitely supported for the update, is it not showing up in Settings / General / Software Update?
if not, try plugging your phone into itunes and do the update there.

What year/model iMac do you have?
It usually means you didn't make the .iso bootable when you burned it or you didn't burn it at the slowest speed possible. You can't just drag the files to the DVD and make it work.
If you do a Yahoo/Google search you can find a few programs that will make the .iso into a bootable copy. Just use 2x speed if your using Disk Utility to burn it.
If you have one of the latest models, Boot Camp Assistant can now make a Windows 7 and Boot Camp driver installer USB stick for you.
If you try a search you will find other answers like mine so give it a try and see what else you can find.

Why did Apple make the new iPod unable to use Griffin iTalk or iTrip?

I was so disappointed when I upgraded to the new 5th gen. iPod and was unable to use the accessories I purchased for my previous iPod. Am I missing something? What am I supposed to do? Is there an attachment that will make them usable? Why would Apple make a new iPod that wouldn't include the same connector?

Why cant Apple make a better keyboard/mouse

I went to Costco today and brought home the Microsoft Wireless Desktop 6000 and plugged it into my iMac. What a difference compared to the Apple bluetooth keyboard and mouse. It is so much nicer to type on, and the functionality of the MS mouse beats the Apple one button by far. I know about the mighty mouse, but it still feels cheap compared to the MS mouse.
Why is Apple so cheap about its keyboards? They make the best computer for the money, but ship it with a sub-standard keyboard and mouse. So now if I want to type comfortably and use a good mouse, I have to put up with RF instead of bluetooth, and the fact that they MS desktop set doesn't really match the iMac aesthetically. I dont want to have to trade off. I think Apple should provide form and function for $1299.

Those old "Battleship Potempkin" keyboards were awesome back in the day.
I bought out a school that was redoing their labs and had literally dozens of those in my garage along with some of the newer, smaller Keyboad IIs. I sold them off of eBay after I tested them and gave them a good cleaning. They went surprisingly fast.
There is a company that makes a modern keyboard with the same premium keyswitches of the AEKII, the Matias Tactile Pro Keyboard. I have read rave reviews of it, and for the price, it had better be good.
