Apparently cookies was turned off in Safari. I rarely use it so I have no idea how that happened. Anyway, turning them on seems to have cured the problem.

Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
* Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
* Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons -

If you are speaking of the encryption of Windows 7, then you don't. (unless you are running Windows on your Mac)
If you want to use it on your Mac on the native OS X, remove the encryption with your Windows machine, first.
If it is formatted in NTFS, you will then be able to read the contents natively, but not write to it. You can add an NTFS driver to OS X, or you can reformat to either Mac OS, or ExFAT, losing your existing data on that drive. I used to be a fan of some of the third-party solutions, but have since ditched them, as it takes continual maintenance to retain functionality with OS X updates.
What you have right this very moment is a drive very much married to Windows, with the expense of not much compatibility to the Mac. -

What operating system do you have on your computer?
In order to run the latest version of iTunes fully you need to have one of the following:
- Windows XP with Service Pack 3
- Windows Vista
- Windows 7
- Mac OS X 10.6.5 or higher -

Uninstall iTunes, apple mobile device service, apple application support
Then go to apple and redownload and reinstall iTunes and try again. -
Why the **** is iTunes 11 so ****? Reset the modem like one post said might be the problem,
Started in only basic processes to ensure no conflicting APP processes (another post said this might help)

i tried right clicking the songs and it doesnt give me the "open with" option and i know that itunes is my defualt player. this has become a real problem. usually its song files i download from bandcamp and then move to my itunes audio folder. this never use to be a problem until recently.

I have a MacBook Pro and have just purchased an iphone 5, you need to have the latest version of itunes which is 10.7, I have just downloaded it and it wont let me open it as it says you need a OSX or version 10.6, I have bith and it still wont open. Any ideas?
Yeah ... best to take what you hear with a pinch of salt, and get second opinions if possible. (Including with advice from me.)
If your MacBook Pro is compatible with Snow Leopard or higher operating systems (OS X 10.6.x or 10.7.x, or 10.8.x), then if you update your operating system to a higher version, then you should be able to install iTunes 10.7.0.21.
That will cost some money ... so it's best to check before buying the new operating system that your Mac can run it.
I'd check in at the MacBook Pro community. Let them know which particular MacBook Pro model you're running, and ask if it's compatible with a newer operating system that Leopard.
