Why cant I save as in pages any more

The "save as" function has dissapeared from the File menu in pages...
It was there yesterday, but not there today
I did on OS update a couple of days ago, but the "save as" function has worked since then, just not today.
any ideas?
I am running OS X 10.8.5 (not sure what animal that is..)

You're welcome. Apple seems to have removed Save As because it doesn't align well with their new file management scheme. But so many users complained, they brought it back. I never use it myself, because I find that the new commands work fine for me.

To be clear, you can see the image from your file system but cannot access it from code?
I'd like to know what could be my bug because I don't understand why I can access from the URL,

I'm not knowledgeable with chmod under Linux, let's say if we give it full accessibility, what will be the result?
Anyway if you can see the image from file system, that already means the upload is succeed, I think you may need get some suggestion from php side to see how can we save the image with a correct permission.

I use my phone for work and want to send to multiple staff groups or project leaders the same information at the same time and not all of them have email capable phones so text has always been the best solution.

22ms is a long time for your computer, but I am wondering about your network. Are you 10 base or 100 base? Switch or hub? Have you tried a direct connection with a crossover cable? Just trying to spark ideas here. I use TCP all the time but only at 500 ms intervals.

Cant I save a web page with its pictures in safari?

when i used save as... to save a web page, it can only save the page as text only, is there any way to save text and the pictures as well.
im using safari 1.3.1 in os 10.3.9

You can only save a page with images in Safari 2.x which comes with OS X 10.3.x. For earlier versions you can go to Print > Save as PDF to capture and image of the page. You can use Firefox or Camino to save a page in standard html format along with a folder of images. This method allows you to view the page with any browser whereas Safari's webarchives can only be viewed in Safari.

Why doesnt my computer reload pages any more after power out?

From time to time I have a power out and it used to be that, when I came back on, I would get a message saying oops, shall we reload the pages you were previously on? Which was great. Now, that isnt happening any more and I dont always remember some of the pages I was dealing with, so I need this feature back. What do I need to do. I am on Windows XP, have cleared my cache and cookies etc so please do ask me to do that again... thanks!

I cant download apps on my ipod any more and I dont know why.

I have an iPod 5 and I just got it a couple months ago. I tried to download two apps, but it never worked. I tried a couple of times, but it still didn't work. I don't know what to do any more. HELP!!!!

Same issue, possibly different circumstance? After each software update on my iPod 5, apps that I use regularly and/or have paid for are removed from my iPod. When I go to the app store to reinstall them, there is no option to reinstall or download. I have no restrictions set on my iPod.

.mac family pack. Why can't I change these addresses any more?

I bought a family pack years ago and set up email addresses for family members and one for a vacation rental we had. We no longer own the vacation rental and I want to delete that account and set up a new .mac address for what we are now doing? I used to have to pay for the email accounts. Are they now free?

There is no DotMac or MobileMe any more. Each of your Family Pack accounts should have been migrated individually to iCloud, but even if you didn't do that you should be able tro re-enable the addresses (though not access any previous contents) by signing in in System Preferences>iCloud.
You cannot delete Apple IDs or iCloud accounts, but if the account you refer to wasn't migrated it's not active anyway. You cannot re-use the address in another account, and though you can set up new iCloud accounts you cannot create @mac.com addresses, only @icloud.com addresses. There is no Family Pack facility in iCloud.
iCloud is free at basic level with 5GB storage; you can purchase extra storage if you wish.

Why is it that for some PDF files under "Files" the "Save As..." function isnt working!

Ronda, Thanks again for your support. However, I would like to mention that doing it your way there is a particular issue. I have now realized it saves the document in question with the same file name, as the last document saved on that particular day, and not in the file name as you received te document!
This has a major implication, because you will not be able to quickly locate the document if you need it. The strange thing than is, you will discover the same document being listed in your "home account" Mac username folder in the file name as you receive it. I save all my documents that I donwload, into my download folder, and not into any other folder!
Do avoid this, one needs to specifically change / rename the document as one want it to be. But this greatly slows the speed of processing considering that few similar documents everyday!
Do you know a way to speed this process of saving PDF files, and only into one particular folder?

Why cant textEdit save as .txt files?

It does not save to plain .txt. Why?

The text itself may be universal but the end-of-line characters are not. TextEdit on the Mac uses a line feed character (LF = 0x0A) as it's end of line character... the standard on Unix systems. Windows uses a combination of both a carriage return and a line feed (CRLF = 0x0D0A). It's the lack of the carriage returns that's causing the Windows machine to treat your text file as a single line. (Note that pre-OS X Mac apps used just a carriage return (CR = 0x0D) as their end-of-line character... so there are actually three variations you might run across).
Some editors can deal with all three types of end of line characters and will also let you convert a file from one type to another. I'm not sure if TextEdit can do this. I believe the editor built into Xcode can though and probably BBEdit or TextWrangler. I'm sure there are probably some Windows editors that will also deal with different line endings.

Why cant I save a cs4 file as cs5 in adobe flash cs5

When ever I try to save a cs4 file as CS5 the adobe flash cs5 will stop responding for no reasons
also, some times and only for some files when I save the cs4 file as uncompressed cs5 and then save that uncompressed cs5 to normal cs5 the conversion works and some times not.
ofcourse any of the cs5 files cannot be saved as cs3 or cs2 for no reasons..
p/s: microsoft office can be saved to any previous versions.. adobe should learn something from them..

IWeb and galleries - Why cant I make a gallery-page??

Hello! I'm new to Mac (Just bought an MacBook) as well as iWeb. I have pictures from 6 different holidays which I would like to post on the iWeb-site I'm creating at the moment. Is the only solution to make 6 gallery pages right along side the main pages, such as "Welcome", "CV", "blog" and so on? I'm looking for something like a "Gallery page" where you click on a holiday (Icon or picture), which takes you to a page where you can check the photos or watch a slideshow. I've tried a bunch of times, but it won't work, which is why I'm asking out here!

Please note, you must have your photos organized into your desired albums in iPhoto. Otherwise, this will create everthing for you! And it won't clutter up your navigation menu!

Why cant I save some pad files as pdf's in CS5

I have a PSD file I cant "save as" a jpg, I alsi get nothing when I print it and save for web and devices is greyed out...

Could it be you're using 32 bits/channel?
If so, down convert to 16 bits/channel, then you should be able to print and save as a JPEG.

Why can't I paste in pages any longer?

New pages documents will no longer let me do any editing at all. Keyboard shortcuts don't work, and the dropdown menues are greyed out. If I go to a previously created document I can copy or cut but can't paste. None of the documents are locked. This is so bizzarre. I've been using pages for YEARS, since the beginning, and I've never seen this happen. Any ideas out there?

Seems that PAges 5.2 has yet another bug. Go back to using Pages 09. It should be in Applications/iwork 09 folder.

I upgraded to Adobe Reader X 10.1.3, why cant I save .pdf now, Win XP Pro

I upgraded to Adobe Reader X 10.1.3.
Now I can't save pdfs to disk.
It is always telling me disk full or protected.
I am using XP pro with full admin rights.
Reading boards here I see no Firefox support so I even tried IE 8 thinking maybe browser. Nope same deal.
Ahh wait let's try saving to other folders on c:\drive no, let's try usb stick, that works. But don't always have stick.
would like to save to my pdf specific file on c:\drive

Thanks for trying the steps! It does not seem to be a permission issue.
1. Were you able to save this PDF via the normal route that you follow i.e. saving the PDF after rendering the same.?
2. For any file with which you are facing this error, can you try changing the name of the file to something else and see if you face the same issue?
3. Does the Save As feature work in the Standalone Reader application?
4. Please try and delete all folders (or atleast whatever is possible) from C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0 (Assuming you installed the program in the default location). Now repair the installation from within the Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
It would be great if you could also let me know which Antivirus software are you using. Does disabling the same help?

WHY CANT I POST TABLES INTO PAGES?

I keep trying to post a table from the internet application "Statcrunch 5.0" into pages, but every time it only pastes the values and removes the borders of the table, making the data ridiculously confusing.

Just a footnote to this thread.
I hand-created a pure HTML, 4x6 table without any div containers, or CSS. Looks like this, unadorned in Safari.
From the Pages v5.2.2 document toolbar, I added a table, and adjusted it down to a 1x2 example. I used a number automatic data format for the first cell. In the second cell, I created a custom, comma-delimited, number data format.
I then used paste and match style into the first cell (A1) of the table, which then automatically expanded to 5x6 table, that applied the formatting that I assigned to the original Pages table cells. As cleanup, I selected the header row, chose to center align, and bold the column labels. Done. Looks like this.
The above technique did not work well for a different HTML table with div containers, and heavy CSS styling.
